Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Marvelous Moms Challenge

    Hi Crafty Friends,

HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY! I started as a scrapbooker so this is near and dear to my heart. I also worked at Archivers for years! Do you remember that great scrapbooking store? I was the Receiving Supervisor so I got to see all the goodies before you did!

In honor of this day, Kat Scrappiness is hosting a week long challenge! The theme is MARVELOUS MOTHERS!

All you have to do to enter is make any project that fits this theme, it can be a scrapbook page, a card, a tag, mixed media project, etc.  Just focus on mom. It doesn’t have to be your mom, it can be you, your grandma, a friend who is a mom, a sister, an aunt.  Enter your project in the linky below.  It’s super simple!  The challenge begins today May 4th and will remain open until May 10th. The winner will be announced on Mother’s Day! There are TWO prizes! One is a Kat’s Favorite Things Kit Valued at $50 and the other is valued at $25.

    Make Crafty Friends Q & A:

Q: What is the best thing your mom past down to you? It can be a personality trait, physical appearance, anything!

A: Me? My mom past down empathy and kindness. I have never been a bully and can easily put myself in others shoes. On the vain front… she gave me great blue eyes and dimples!

I made a scrapbook page! This is a picture from last year when my mom turned 70! She looks amazing for 70 right? I have good genes! I threw her a surprise party with all her friends! It was priceless. Here is how I created my page!

I started with this darling MOM patterned paper. I found matching solid papers and framed my photo with both yellow and pink.

I left about a 1/4 in border for my frames, I taped the framed photo to the center of my page.

Next I used the Kat Scrappiness dies and cut out 12 yellow hearts from the Layering Heart Die Set (fits ALL Kat Scrappiness Decorative Heart sets!) and 12 pink out of the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Fancy Scalloped Hearts!

I taped them down and glued on the blue lettering to spell my name and what I call my mom… MOMSIE :). I finished the page adding the die cut LOVE YA and the enamel dots.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I can’t wait to see what you create! Link up your project below and tell us about your mom! You can leave a comment here or on my blog with your “Make Crafty Friends Q & A” Answer! Don’t forget to use your discount TODAY 15%!

    Rainbow Card with Video

Welcome back to the blog Kat Scrappiness fans!

It’s Lisa here with you today and I have a fun card to share

with you using the newest Cloud Backdrop Die from the April Release.

This die puts the cutest stitched clouds into your background

    without actually cutting them out.

I thought what better to go with clouds than a fun and colorful rainbow.

What do you do if you don’t have a rainbow die?

    Well you improvise, right…

I used the Double Stitched Circle Dies to make my bright rainbow

for this card and I added some fun clouds from the He Is Risen Dies .

I used a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Wavy Sayings stamp set

and stamped it onto one of the clouds in Versafine Black Onyx Ink.

I thought it would be cute to add some shiny rain drops to the card

so I used an old teardrop punch from my stash and punched out

5 raindrops to match my rainbow. I wanted to give them a shiny

appearance so I added Gina K Crystalline Drops to each one of them.

I filmed a video to show you just how I made my rainbow from the

Double Stitched Circle Dies and you can watch it here or on YouTube.

Thanks so much for joining me and as always you can use my code LISA10

and save 10% on your order in the Kat Scrappiness store!

Have a great day, I already am!

You Mean So Much To Me Using Friendship Greetings

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. I have a simple yet elegant card to share with you today using the Friendship Greetings Stamp Set. Below are the steps to create your own card.

    Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Stamp Friendship Greetings image on White Cardstock using Gina K Amalgam Ink. This is an alcohol friendly ink. Color in with any alcohol markers of your choice. I used the TriBlends from Spectrum Noir. Fussy cut the image or use the Scan ‘N’ Cut. Adhere to card using Foam Tape.

Step 3 – Stamp Friendship Greetings sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink for Hello and Versafine Morning Mist for You Mean So Much To Me.

Step 4 – For added interest and sparkle use a Crystal Katana to randomly adhere White Jewels with collage medium.

This card can be used for any occasion by changing the sentiment. Below is a link to all the products used. To receive 10% off your next order at Kat Scrappiness use code: TINA10 at checkout. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Whoooo… is Having A Birthday & Sunshine Chameleon By Guest Designer Meghan Kennihan

    Hi Crafty Friends,

This is my LAST post as a Guest Designer for Kat Scrappiness, but I’m sure I’ll be back soon if they will have me! I really enjoyed my time this month because I ADORE Kathleen and Kat Scrappiness products. They are the best group of ladies and the store amazing with all the unique products they carry! I made two cards for my last day. The first one is a fun birthday card using the new release die sets from this month! They make fun backgrounds so easy to make!

    Make Crafty Friends Q & A:

Q: Have you ever seen an owl in the wilderness? Not a zoo….

A: Me? No…. sadly I have not, I have heard them but never seen on except in a zoo

I started my card with the blue panel using the Stitched Cloud Backdrop die. Then I die cut the Wood Grain Frame and inked it with brown distress oxide to make the wood grain stand out!

I assembled the scene, adding these darling owls from Gerda Designs that are carried in the Kat Scrappiness Store! And of course the cute little pun sentiment!

    Supplies:

Kat Scrappiness Stitched Cloud Panel Die

Kat Scrappiness Wood Grain Frame Die

Kat Scrappiness Gerda Designs  Owl Rather Be With You

For my second card, I had a little fun with the Lawn Fawn One In A Chameleon set that is in the store. Who doesn’t love sunshine? And this Chameleon has made himself yellow to shine bright just like the sun!

    Make Crafty Friends Q & A:

Q: What is the worst sunburn you have ever gotten?

A: Me? I did a 100 mile bike ride in a tank top and I missed the middle of my back with the lotion… I got 2nd degree burns and I still have a freckle sports bra shaped outline on my back!

I started this card with the blue panel stamping the little chameleon in darker blue all over. I taped it down to my yellow base then I took a few different ribbons and taped them down as the sunshine rays.

Next, I die cut the “sun” circle using the Kat Scrappiness Distressed Edge Circle and inked the edges in orange. I also die cut the clouds from the Kat Scrappiness He Has Risen die set and inked the edges in blue.

I finished my card by using foam tape to pop up the clouds and sun. Then stamping the fun sentiment on the clouds!

Thank you so much for having me! I would love if you would stop by my blog here, please take a moment to comment and follow so you can answer all the Make Crafty Friends Q & As and follow me on Instagram here!
