  • Shaker feat. NEW Stamp Set from Kat Scrappiness

Shaker feat. NEW Stamp Set from Kat Scrappiness

Hey, everyone! Kevin here, sharing this fun and modern shaker card featuring some brand new Kat Scrappiness products. Check it out-

I started by doing some simple die cutting with two different KS sets. I grabbed the Fancy Scalloped Squares and the Stitched Squares sets and die cut some green card stock from my stash. This created the perfect frame for my shaker window. I added the acetate to the frame and then some foam strips. I added a piece of patterned paper from an older pack to enclose the new Spring Leaves sequins, but you could find a similar piece from the Wedding Bliss pad from Echo Park.

I adhered the shaker window to a light gray card base. A couple butterflies and a sentiment from the brand new Lola the Giraffe set finished things off. I love the modern colors of this card and those sequins are one of my new favorites!

  • Classic Thank You Cards feat. Kat Scrappiness Dies

Classic Thank You Cards feat. Kat Scrappiness Dies

Hello, everyone! It’s Kevin again, this time sharing two classic thank you cards made with some of my favorite Kat Scrappiness dies. Before we get started, I want to tell you guys where I got my inspiration from. I am addicted to Instagram, like I am sure many of you are, and I came across a wonderful pair of cards from Marge. Make sure you check her out! Let’s get started with my versions-

    http://wp.me/p7LAvt-Ih

I started by doing most of my die cutting. I used the Double Stitched Rectangles from KS to cut some kraft card stock and patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and my stash. On the smallest rectangles I white heat embossed some images from the stamp sets I am using- Lawn Fawn’s Octopi My Heart, I’m So Jelly  and Virginia Turtle’s Pricks Really Suck.

Then I die cut a couple of the Fancy Scalloped Ovals from Kat Scrappiness and stamped the octopus and cactus on them. I stamped them a little bit higher than center to leave room for the sentiments.

Next, I die cut Kat’s “Thank You” dies and added some color using a few Distress Inks. I tried to get an ombre effect by adding heavier color to the bottom of the die cut.  After layering the stitched rectangles onto a white A2 sized card bases I added the ovals with some foam tape. Then I used some tape runner to adhere the sentiments. I little bit of Wink of Stella on the sentiments finished them off.

I hope you found some inspiration today! I had a lot of fun creating this pair of thank you cards inspired by Marge. Have a great day!

  • How to Create a Simple Mixed Media Valentine’s Tag

How to Create a Simple Mixed Media Valentine’s Tag

Newton's Nook TagHello there, Josefine is back 😛 Today I wanted to share a Valentine’s tag with you using Kat’s new tag dies and a really cute stamp set from Newton’s Nook. You know that I’m “a little” into mixed media, so I wanted to create something more towards that direction with the new Kat Scrappiness dies. But I also wanted to create something that fits to the current season so I decided to go with something pink 🙂

I always think it’s easier to follow a mixed media project in a video vs explanations as text. So I just had to create a new tutorial video for you. I hope you’ll enjoy it 😉

As you can see I didn’t use a lot of planning or precision while creating my Valentine’s tag. I just love to play around and just be messy without thinking about it. What I love about the new tags is that they give you a new design to play with. Usually I use the same old boring form.

    Tip

When you get some manila file folders, you can use these tag dies to create your own manila tags. Because their surface can handle wet medium much better than regular card stock, you can use all sorts of paints, inks and mediums on it without worrying about the paper being destroyed.

  • Art Impressions Penguin Stackers Bookmark Card

Art Impressions Penguin Stackers Bookmark Card

Hi crafty friends! I hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the holidays! We are so close to the big day! I have got a lot of shopping to do still but I decided to make something as one of my gifts. Check it out!

I’m not sure if you have any book lovers to buy for this year, but my grandma loves reading! So I decided to make her a bookmark as part of her gift and incorporate it into a card design!

I started by stamping the Penguin Stackers from Art Impressions onto a die cut rectangle using the Stampoholic Nano. I used the second smallest of the Double Stitched Rectangles from Kat Scrappiness and used SSS Intense Black Ink for my stamping.

Next, I used some Copic markers to color in those adorable penguins. I used very traditional Christmas colors along with a few shades of yellow and gray. Since the penguins are so small, I did not have a whole lot of room for shading, so I started with my darkest color then blended it out with my lightest. I only used 3 shades for the santa hats.

Then I started to assemble my card. But, first I used Lawn Fawn’s Merry Messages to create a sentiment filled background onto my card base. Then I found some wood grain paper from my stash and cut out a window with a craft knife that was slightly smaller than the bookmark. I used the tiniest little Circle Die from KS to create an opening so my grandma would know to pull out her gift! I used a layer of foam tape to add the wood grain piece and then slid in my bookmark and added some baker’s twine to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone gets their holiday cards done soon if you haven’t already! I know I still have quite a few to send out! Happy Holidays!

  • I Wheelie Like You

Hello, crafty people! Today I am here to share a super punny fall card. I love revisiting older stamps and finding a way to make them work for the current season. I used the adorable “Wheelie Like You” set from Lawn Fawn to create this autumn-tastic love note.

    fullsizerender

I started by stamping and die cutting the images then coloring them in with my Copics. Then I cut down a couple strips of paper- a gold piece and a pattern from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid- Fall. Before adding the strips to the card base I ink blended a soft yellow-orange background around where my hamster wheel would go. I popped up the hamster and wheel then stamped the fun sentiment. Too finish things off I added a sprinkling of coordinating sequins from Kat’s Aww-tumn mix. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Hope you found some creative inspiration!!!

  • Using Clarity Stencil Brushes for a Fall Card

clarity stencil brushesHello everyone, I’m up on the Kat Scrappiness blog again and this time with a process video 🙂

I’m featuring the Clarity Stencil Brushes with this card, as I just recently got a pack and fell in love with them immediately! I like them so much better than the Ranger ink blending tool to apply Distress Ink through stencils. I’m also using a hilarious stamp set from Newton’s Nook, a Carta Bella paper pack and stencil, and a really pretty sequins mix from Kat Scrappiness. But see for yourself:

I hope you enjoyed my video for this snarky birthday card with Newton the cat. I still giggle about it and probably will for a while 😀
