    Birthday Essentials Slimline Card

Hello crafty friends! Sammi here to share with you a slimline card I made using the newly released Birthday Essentials Dies and the Happy Birthday Sentiment die w/ Shadow. The new Birthday release is so much fun!! It’s an amazing release and you can always use birthday cards!

Here is what I did to make this card:

    1. Using the Slimline Film Strip Border Dies, I cut out the film strip with some 110 Neenah cardstock. Using Bearly Art glue, I glued the film strip onto a white slimline card base.
    2. I then used the negatives from the insides of the film strip to measure the three squares and cut out the balloon paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack. Using foam tape, I popped the squares onto the card base.
    3. I then took the balloons, candles, striped hat and ribbon and bow from the Birthday Essential dies and cut them out with the polka dot and solids paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack. I then glued them onto the card panel with Bearly Art glue.
    4. I then cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment using the Happy Birthday Sentiment die w/ Shadow using the red and yellow solid paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack and glued them together. I then popped it onto the card panel with some foam tape.
    5. I then added some Bumble Bee Pearl Mix and Spring Leaves Pearl Mix embellishments to complete the look.

I love how it screams Happy Birthday! Such a bright and cheery card and perfect for a birthday card! Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great day!

  • Shaker Gift Card Holder

    Shaker Gift Card Holder

Happy Monday crafty friends! Sammi here and I want to show you how to make a easy shaker gift card holder using the Kat Scrappiness Shaker Dimension Sets! I love the idea of making a fun gift card holder and the shaker card kits are perfect from Kat Scrappiness. There are so many sets to choose from and they are only $2.99 each!

Before I begin, I want to remind everyone that Kat Scrappiness is having a sale on all Slimline items until December 24th! You can save 15%!

To make this shaker gift card holder, here is what I did:

    1. I painted the chipboard portion of the shaker kit with acrylic paint and let it dry. After it dried, I added some sparkle by using a glitter brush, such as Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens.
    2. I then cut a piece of Cozy Chistmas Slimline paper for the backing of my shaker window and glued the foam portion of the kit onto the paper back.
    3. I then added the shaker mix, which I used a combination of Holiday Bliss and By The Sea sequin mixes.
    4. I then glued the acetate that comes in the kit onto the chipboard portion and then glued it onto the foam piece to seal in the shaker mix.
    5. I then cut a piece of red card stock the size of the back of the shaker piece, allow 1/2″ extra on both sides so I could make a hinge for the gift card holder. I then scored the hinge at 1/2″ from each side and folded it inward. Using a cirle die, I cut a half circle on the top to make it easy to grab the gift card once inserted. I then used a corner rounder to round the edges and then glued it onto the back of the of the shaker piece. You need to make sure to let the glue set before using the pocket to allow it to seal completely.
    6. I then cut a piece of Cozy Christmas Slimline paper a little smaller than the red cardstock and used the circle die to add another half circle to align with the red cardstock piece. I then used a corner rounder to round the edges and then glued it onto the red cardstock.
    7. I then added the Merry Christmas from the Merry Critters stamp set by embossing it with Wow! White embossing powder after treating the red cardstock with anti-static powder using the new KS Telescopic Embossing Tool and cutting it down to size and glued it onto the front of the shaker piece.

I love how this turned out! There are so many sets to choose from and you can do this with any occasion such as Christmas, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day. There are so many types of kits to choose from! I hope you will give it a go! I will list the links to several kits you can choose from!

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year! I will see you all in 2022!!

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you!

I prepared some easy shaker cards and more for you! Now Kat Scrappiness is selling Shaker Dimension Sets that are easy to manipulate, decorate and create amazing shaker cards. Let me show you my designs:

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

On my first card, I used the new Merry Christmas Snowglobe Shaker Card Kit. Originally It is color Kraft and to make it different I inked the lower part with VersaFine Satin Red and covered it with clear embossing powder. After melt the powder, I repeated the process and obtained a very shiny touch. To make the snowglobe more special, I inked the circular part with VersaMark and covered with Sparkle Embossing Powder. I repeated the process to obtain  a very sparkle touch.

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

In a separate piece of whisper white card stock, I stamped different images from the stamp set Merry Critters from Kat Scrappiness and colored the images with Illustrator Markers from Spectrum Noir. I fussy cut the images and arranged over an inked circle that I cut with one of the Never Ending Circle Dies. I arranged all the pieces with different highs and added some 3mm Clear Solid Stars and some Golden Anniversary Sequins to make the shaker effect. Then I pasted my shaker piece over a whisper white card base that I decorated with the Star Fusion Cover Plate.

My next card is a Fall card that I made using the stamp set Happy Fall Y’all and the Medallion Cover Plate in combination with the Medium Oval Shaker Card Kit. This shaker kit came in white and I changed the colors of the frame using Powder Puff Chalk Ink from Quick Quotes Scrapbook Company. To make the background I die cut an oval with one Never Ending Oval Die and used Harmony Water Reactive Inks from Spectrum Noir.

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

To embellish the card, I used one of my favorites products from Kat Scrappiness, Sequins! I used the Autumn Harvest collection and the colors are simply gorgeous!

Now I have a different product to share with you. The fabulous Halloween Borders!

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

I decided to create a non scary Halloween card. The base and the second layer of my card is Whisper White. I just inked the second layer with five different tones of Harmony Water Reactive Ink from Spectrum Noir and stamped on the center a sentiment Halloween Stamp. The colors of Harmony Ink that I used are: Pale Fig, Crushed Velvet, Plum Pudding, Lemon Tonic and Baby Blue. The sentiment is Trick or Treat by Rena from my stach that I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Shaker Cards and more by Martha Lucia

I die cut the the second layer using the large Zig Zag Rectangle Stitched Die from Kat Scrappiness and pasted over the card base using double sided foam tape. To embellish the card, I used basic black card stock to die cut the spiderweb and the bats borders included on the Halloween Border Dies from Kat Scrappiness. I separate the bats, and pasted over the front card area with double sided foam tape and finalized with the super cute gosh included on the Halloween Party Sequin Mix from Kat Scrappiness.

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon with more new products!

    More Hoppy for You!

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you!

Today I’m sharing this colorful card featuring the Hoppy for You stamp set and the Foliage Frame Die Cut and Distressed Edge Rectangle Die all from Kat Scrappiness.

To create the base and second layer of this card I used Bazzill Basics Paper. I just cut in a half the Foliage Frame Die and pasted directly over the card base leaving the leaves free. Then I a separate piece of Whisper White card stock I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink the Kangaroo images from the stamp set Hoppy for you.

I colored the Kangaroos with Sperctrum Noir Alcohol Markers and fussy cut with the scissors. The sentiment is one message included on the Hoppy for You stamp set that I die cut and customized with the Distressed Edge Rectangle Die from Kat Scrappiness. I used the second size and like it is  more wide I just replaced the card stock according with the size that I need it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and don’t forget to hop for your Hoppy for you stamp set!

  • Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

    Hello friends, Martha Lucia here!

As I promised you a few days ago, I have more cards to share with you using the new Zig Zag Die Cuts. Let the fun start:

Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

To make this card I used the new Zig Zag Rectangle Dies from Kat Scrappiness and I want to share the entire process with you:

    1. Cut all the rectangles using different colors of card stock but cut them centered on a regular layer of card stock (4-1/4″x 5-1/2″). If you want you can use different tones of the same lane of colors or simply different colors. Keep all the negative pieces.
    2. Paste centered all the zig zag rectangles starting from large to small.
    3. Create the card base. It could be horizontal or vertical. My sample is a vertical card.
    4. Arrange the entire piece created with the zig zag rectangles on top of the card base leaving on of the sides off.
    5. Paste the zig zag rectangles and cut the excess with the paper trimmer.
    6. Arrange the excess over the free areas of the card base and repeat the process.
    7. Personalize and finalize your decoration.

Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

On my first card, I suggested to cut all the zig zag rectangles centered on the layers and keep all the negative parts. With these negative parts you can create a second card. I decided to make a shaker card. Let me share it with you:

Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

To create this card, I only used three negative frames obtained with my first cuts. This time I arranged them in opposite side, small to large, to create a window on the center.

    1. Centered and Paste the three frames. Don’t worry if you have excess on the side borders. The most important border is the large frame. Then you can cut all the excess.
    2. Paste a transparency sheet to cover the centered window.
    3. Turn around the card and add some Sprinkles and/or Confections over the transparency and cover it with a second sheet of transparency.
    4. Create a card base.
    5. Paste a decorate layer to see through the window.
    6. If it is necessary, resize the negative layers created with the zig zag rectangles.
    7. Add some pieces of double sided foam tape to the entire shaker piece and paste over the card base.
    8. Finalize and personalize your decoration. To my sample, I just added some splatters of Dandelion Fireworks.

Zig Zag Rectangles by Martha Lucia

To decorate my shaker card I used the XL Butterfly Die from Gina Marie Designs and the new Cupcake Sprinkles. I also added a stamped sentiment from the Spring Stroll stamp set that I cut using one of the Stitched Sentiments Strips.

You can buy these Zig Zag Rectangles or any other product with the 10%OFF using the code Martha10 on Kat Scrappiness Store. I am sure that you will always find something that you will like and you will use in your creations.

Thank you for stopping by and happy shopping!

  • Star Fusion Coverplate by Martha Lucia

Star Fusion Coverplate by Martha Lucia

Happy Saturday! Martha Lucia here with you featuring one of our new coverplates. Today I am using the Star Fusion Coverplate and I prepared two cards using it.

Star Fusion Coverplate by Martha Lucia

On my first sample I used the Star Fusion coverplate over a card base soft blue. I took a piece of whisper white card stock and sprayed it with different colors of Fireworks. I let the paper dry naturally but if you need to speed the process you can use the heat tool. Then I cut from the sprayed layer the Star Fusion Coverplate and pasted it directly over the card base.

Star Fusion Coverplate by Martha Lucia

To complete my design I added a poppy parade strip with a 3D embossed on the left side of the card and arranged some stamped flowers and sentiment from the stamp set Reckless Love of Joy Clair Stamps. To cut my sentiment I used the small size of the Stitched Sentiments Strips Die Cuts released a month ago.

Star Fusion Coverplate by Martha Lucia

My second card was totally made with whisper white card stock. I just created the card base and inked the top layer with two different colors of distress ink. Then I took another piece of whisper white card stock and made the partial cutting of the Star Fusion Coverplate. My idea has to have only on the center part of this layer the design of the Star Fusion coverplate to see the soft colors behind of it.

I pasted the die cut layer with double sided foam tape to give more dimension and finalized the decoration with a  sentiment and image from the stamp set Spring Stroll from Joy Clair. I fussy cut my scissors the image and for the sentiment I used the Stitched Sentiments Strips Die Cuts because this set include 5 different sizes that work wonderful with many designs. My final touch was a complete spray of Sheer Shimmer over the finalized card.

Did you like the Star Fusion Coverplate? You can find it HERE and you can see all the new die cuts released this week HERE.

  • February Release Day 1 – Medallion Coverplate Die

February Release Day 1 – Medallion Coverplate Die

Hello Kat Scrappiness fans! It is day 1 of the February product release and today, the design team is showcasing the Medallion Coverplate Die.  We are also having a giveaway everyday during release week so please scroll down at the end of the blog post to find out how to WIN this Medallion Coverplate die.  The design team has been super busy creating the samples for you.  We will not have a blog hop at this time but you will be able to see how they created their projects all throughout the month of February so please stay tuned.  Some of the girls are even planning on posting a YouTube process video.  Are you ready to see the Medallion Coverplate Die?  Here’s what it looks like:

Here are some amazing samples by the design team.

    CAREN BARTHOLOMEW

Caren created this super cute Valentine’s Day card with the new coverplate die and did some inlaid technique.  She used the stitched sentiment strip die for her Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment. What an awesome card, Caren!

Caren created another card using the medallion coverplate and die-cut a scalloped circle as her focal point.  She also used the Give Thanks sentiment from the Happy Fall Y’all stamp set and added the fall leaf and some sequins to adorn the card. Wow!

    LISA GOLZBEIN

Lisa did some ink-blending on her card stock with some distress oxide inks in pastel colors, and die cut the same using the medallion coverplate.  She also used the Thank You script sentiment die and added some jewels to finish her design.  So beautiful and perfect for Spring.  Here’s a closer look:

    MARIA RUSSELL

I created a love-themed card.  I die-cut the medallion coverplate from some 110 lb card stock and adhered acetate sheet.  I added the foam adhesive to create the well and used the Golden Anniversary sequins as my shaker element.  I adhered this piece onto a white card-base and added an image from a stamp set from my stash.  I also used the new Stiched Sentiment strip die and heat-embossed the sentiment and adhered this strip on the center of my card.  Here’s a closer look:

I created this simple card by die-cutting a tiffany-blue card stock using the coverplate die.  I stamped the sentiment from Virginia Turtle stamp set (purchased from the shop awhile back) using Versafine ink.  I added the black bow using a Penny Black die set.  I finished the design by adding some Sparkling clear jewels from the shop.  Doesn’t the black bow remind you of the outfit by Audrey Hepburn in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Here’s a closer look:

    MARTHA GOMEZ

Martha used the Medallion coverplate die and cut it in half.  She adhered the die-cut on top of a green background using foam adhesive and stamped her sentiment on the stitched sentiment strip die.  To finish her design, she added the red heart.  Here’s a closer look:

    PRISCILLA JOSEPH

Priscilla created this gorgeous Valentine’s Day card with the Medallion Coverplate as her background.  She stamped and heat-embossed the heart wreath using the Floral Heart stamp set by Neat and Tangled.  To finish her design, she added some Fuschia Jewels.  Here’s a closer look:

Priscilla used the Medallion Coverplate die with the Cross Stitched Rectangle dies and a stamp set from Papertrey Ink called “Glorious Globes”.  I love the tone on tone background that she created on her card.   Here’s a closer look:

    TINA GUIGUI DORNBAUM

Tina created this beautiful card by inking up her background with distress oxide inks and die-cut the piece using the coverplate die.  She adhered this piece onto a black card stock to make the colors pop!  She stamped the sentiment with versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder and added some sequins to finish her design.  I love the colors that she used!

Here’s another card from Tina but this time, she colored the background instead of the die-cut and added a very colorful butterfly as her focal point.
