3 Ideas & Techniques with the Butterfly Backdrop Die

Hi everyone! It’s Lindsay Adreon, from Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel, here with you today. I am super excited to be guest designing today with Kat Scrappiness! This past release, the new Butterfly Backdrop die was release and when I seen it, I had so many different ideas for it I couldn’t choose just one, so I picked three to share with you today! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below to see three different ideas and techniques you can use with the new Butterfly Backdrop Die from Kat Scrappiness!

My first card is definitely the most shiny of the three! I love using glitter and making a full glittered background with this die is easier than you might think! Be sure to watch the video above for all the details. But I did want to tone it down just a touch so I added a border to the top and bottom of the card using the new Zig Zag Border dies. I also added a few Brown Jewels from Kat Scrappiness to give this card a few finishing touches!

My second card is super easy and can be completely customized to fit your card recipient or card making style. I started by die cutting a piece of heavy weight white card stock and kept both pieces. Behind the large piece I added an ink blended panel and then popped up the little butterflies back over the panel. I did add a little fold to the butterflies wings so they would have a lot of dimension!

For my final card, I used the die cut as a stencil! This is one of my favorite ways to use large background dies like this. And because this card was so simple, I wanted to add a little more interest by making a shaped card base. I used the new Zig Zag Rectangle Die Set from Kat Scrappiness to create the card base. Be sure to watch the video above to see how easy it is to use the dies to create fun shaped card bases!

I hope you all enjoyed the three different ideas and techniques I shared today to use with the Kat Scrappiness Butterfly Backdrop Die! I’ve listed and linked all of the Kat Scrappiness products I used on each of my projects down below. Thank you for letting me spend a bit of time with you today! Happy Crafting!!

Happy Easter – Crafter’s Essentials Easter

Hi everyone!  Did you get a chance to see all the new dies that were released this month?

Today, I have a shaker card with a lot of Kat Scrappiness products including the new Crafters Essentials: Easter die set and some sprinkles.

I started off by using one of the scalloped stitched circle dies with some blue and while polka dot paper.  I then cut out a circle using the Never Ending circle dies out of pink card stock.  I adhered those pieces together and used the bunny from Crafters Essentials: Easter die set to cut the bunny out.  Next, I adhered a piece of clear acetate to the back.

For the shaker part, I added white sprinkles and some white hearts from the Black and White heart sprinkles.  I double up the foam adhesive on the back of this and then added a piece of the same pink card stock to the back.

I found some cute pink Easter paper with words relating to Easter in my stash.  I used the Stitched Scalloped rectangles to cut out the front panel of my card.  I strategically cut it out so that the word Easter would be at the bottom of the card.  I then used the word Happy from one of the sentiments from the Happy Fall Ya’ll stamp set to white heat emboss that over the word Easter.

I adhered everything to a white card base and finally added a cute bunny tail with one of the Bunny Tail pom poms!

I decided to add the bunny that was cut from the scalloped circle to the inside of the card.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

Hi there, Martha Lucia here with you. Today I am featuring the Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals Die Cuts. Let me start with the zig zag hearts:

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

To make my first card I used the two small sizes of zig zag hearts and the process was very simple:

    1. Cut the card base using whisper white card stock.
    2. Using a stitched frame die cut cut the second layer. I used the stitched rectangle from Gina Marie Designs.
    3. Cut 20 small hearts in five different colors. If you want you can mix the colors or use a single color.
    4. Paste the colors over the second layer of the card.
    5. Using a different color of card stock, cut the second size of zig zag heart and stamp a sentiment inside of it.
    6. Paste the bigger hearth using double sided foam tape
    7. Decorate with white hearts sprinkles.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

My next cards were made using the Zig Zag Ovals and Zig Zag Borders Die Cuts with Mixed Media techniques.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

To create this I used a piece of craft paper and applied deco foil transfer with a paint brush. Then I covered with some scraps of Deco Foil Transfer Sheets and activate the foil with the minc. When the piece was ready, I cut all the zig zag Ovals passing the entire piece with the dies through my die cut machine.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

I pasted the foiled zig zag ovals over a whisper white card base and cut the lateral excess. To finalize the card I added a foiled butterfly from Gina Marie Designs and a stamped sentiment.

On my next card, I combined the zig zag ovals and one of the curve borders included on the zig zag borders collection.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

To make this, I used acrylic paint, a stencil and gel press to create the background texture over whisper white card stock. I cut one of the borders of the created piece with the zig zag border and I also cut the same border in a yellow card stock to paste it a little moved behind of the end and create a diamond effect.

Zig Zag Hearts, Borders and Ovals

I pasted the entire piece over a basic black card base and finalized my card adding a stamped sentiment that I cut using one of the zig zag ovals with gold glossy Rinea foiled paper.

    Kat Scrappiness Easter Dies Video

Hi Crafters! Priscilla here with  a video of three Easter cards I made with the new Kat Scrappiness Easter dies.

Kat just released another fantastic “Crafters Essentials” set featuring several adorable dies for those Easter cards you’ll be making soon. It’s called “Crafters Essentials-Easter.”

In addition, a more solemn die set called “He is Risen” was also just released, perfect for the religious aspect of this holiday.

Click HERE to watch my video on the Kat Scrappiness YouTube channel. I’ll show you how I made these three cards.

For my first card, I used the “Crafters Essentials-Easter” set to created this Easter basket-themed card.

My bunny sports one of the white “Bunny Tails”  pom poms that Kat has in her shop, along with the “Easter Egg Hunt” sequins that he’s “guarding” on this card.

My second card uses the new “He is Risen”  die set to create a sunset-themed “Good Friday” scene.

I created the sunset sky using several Distress Oxide inks and some of Kat’s “Sparking Clear Jewels.”

The “happy easter” sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

My final card combines both die sets. I used the bunny die from the “Crafters Essential-Easter” set and the grass and clouds from the “He is Risen” set.

I added Kat’s “Black & White Heart Sprinkles” to the cloud and hid the “Easter Egg Hunt” sequins in the grass. To make the white “Bunny Tails” pom pom black, I simply dipped it in the black alcohol ink.

Her’s all three cards made from these dies.

Well, that’s all for today. See you again soon!

The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “Priscilla10” for 10% off your order at the shop.

Kat Scrappiness March Release – Day 2 – He Is Risen

Hello Kat Scrappiness fans!  It is the second day of the March Release.  We will also be giving away the die set that is being revealed each day during release week and a SPECIAL GIFT to whoever places an order until March 22nd, using the supplies link below. PLEASE SCROLL THROUGH AT THE END OF THE POST TO FIND OUT HOW TO WIN.

For the second day of the reveals, we are showcasing the He is Risen dies.  Here’s what it looks like:

I finally received the dies today and I couldn’t wait to play with the He Is Risen die set.  Just to let you know, the other design team members are not able to participate in this release today because of their religious belief.

    CAREN BARTHOLOMEW

Caren Used a Sunburst Stencil to ink up her background with some distress oxide inks.  She die-cut the grass from some patterned paper and adhered the same, with some liquid adhesive.  She die-cut the clouds with some glittered card stock and the crosses using some light gray card stock.  She adhered the die-cuts on her card and added “Easter Blessings” as her sentiment.

    GUEST DT – LINDSAY ADREON

Our guest designer this month is Lindsay Adreon and she created this beautiful card with the dies.  She inked up her background with some distress inks and added the white clouds.  She die-cut the crosses and also added the grass that are all inked up with distress inks.  Lindsay also used the zigzag dies and finished her design by adding some sparkling clear jewels and stamped the word “Blessings” as her sentiment. She will have a video showing how she made her cards.

For Lindsay’s second card, she colored her watercolor card stock with some Arteza brush pens and created this gorgeous background.  She die-cut an oval vellum using the oval zig zag die and also die-cut the crosses with some black card stock.  So pretty!

    LISA GOLZBEIN

Can you say less is more?  I absolutely ADORE this card by Lisa.  She die-cut the crosses on some kraft card stock and layered a ribbon on it.  The gorgeous white background with some teal patterned paper made this card super classy.

Another beautiful card by Lisa.  She used the zigzag rectangle die and used the crosses from the He is Risen die set to die-cut the middle and adhered this piece on some script patterned paper.

    MARIA RUSSELL

I inked up my Bristol Smooth white card stock with some distress oxide inks in rainbow colors.  I used Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet.  I sprayed some water using my distress sprayer and blot it dry with my paper towel.  I used the Sunburst Embossing Folder by Sunny Studio to dry-emboss my colored background.  I die-cut the crosses from some black card stock using the He is Risen die set and adhered the same on my background.  I die-cut a piece of some white card stock using the Fancy Scalloped Border dies for my hill.  To finish my design I added some sparkling clear jewels.  Here’s a closer look:

    PRISCILLA JOSEPH

Priscilla created this wonderful background using different distress oxide inks.  Isn’t it beautiful?  She will have her own blog post and/or video showing you how she made this card.  She die-cut the crosses from the He is Risen die set with some black card stock and adhered the same on her colored background.  She added the Happy Easter line border by Lawn Fawn as her sentiment and finished her design by adding some sparkling clear jewels.
