  • Dropping by to say “HI”

    Dropping by to say “HI”

Hi there! Hannah here! 😀 I have a SUPER bright card for you today!

This card came about primarily because I wanted to use For You, Deer Stamp and Die set by Lawn Fawn. It came out just prior to Christmas and I didn’t want it to become one of those “one use” stamp sets that got used once and never gets used again. Also, Lawn Fawn has a similar set coming out and I really can’t wait to play with it, so this was partially me just messing with ideas that may or may not potentially work.

The stamp set works PERFECTLY with the letters “H” and “I” in the Kat Scrappiness Large Alphabet Dies, with the partial sentiment of “Dropping By To Say.” All I needed to do was figure out how I was going to combine the two aspects. I decided that it would be super cute of one of the characters from the stamp set was hanging out in the letter “H.” The deer fit better than the bear, in my opinion, so I colored him in and adhered him to the letter “H” that I had cut out of some fun patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs that I had floating around my craft room.

From that pad of paper, I selected two other sheets that I was going to use, the pink flower background was obvious that I was going to use as a background for the card. I wanted my little deer to feel as if he was frolicking in the flowers! I dusted the outside edges with some Distress Oxide so that any paper showing along the outside edge would look like it was receding.

After die cutting an opening in the other piece of patterned paper using the NEW Distressed Edge Oval Dies I trimmed the panel down with the Stitched Rope Nested Rectangle Dies, also by Kat Scrappiness. The edges of this paper I also ran some Distress Oxide around as well, and because this paper was so bright, I ran some around the front, just to tone it down. Because I love dimension, I cut a piece of fun foam down to be just slightly smaller than this top piece of paper, I also die cut fun foam letters “H” and “I” too.

Using more Distress Oxide, and some clear embossing powder, I embossed the sentiment “Dropping By To Say” in the corner of this panel. Then it was a matter of piecing everything together with my favorite adhesives and decorating with some sequins. For this I loved the Grandma’s Garden sequin pack from Kat Scrappiness, there are little tiny flowers in it, which I could insert some gems from the pack onto the inside. PERFECTION!

Sometimes you just need a fun card to send to a friend, and I hope that this card fits the bill. If I have inspired you, please let me know! • I Lava You, Valentine!

    I Lava You, Valentine!

Hannah here! How are you this lovely February day? Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I am SO excited! I don’t know why I love this “holiday” so much, we hardly celebrate it at our house, I think it has to do with my love of hearts. 😉

I recently came back from Creativation where I had the opportunity to play with alcohol inks for the first time ever. We were using them for a much different purpose than they are generally used for, however, it did inspire me to purchase a bunch and start playing with them. This really was the basis for my card, I wanted to play with alcohol inks. 😉

So, play I did! I gathered 3 inks in “lava” colors, and some Yupo paper, and went to town having fun!

While that was drying I stamped out my image from Avery Elle, the Lava You set, using Memento Tuxedo Black. Then using the filler stamps from the set I stamped those in with other Distress Inks. I then die cut this image out using the coordinating Lava You die set and colored the ocean water with Copic Markers.

Because I was making a shaker card, when don’t I made a shaker card, I needed a frame, so I created a lovely blend of Distress Inks on a piece of paper using Clarity Stencil Brushes. Next, I die cut my frame out using two of the Distress Edge Rectangle Dies by Kat Scrappiness.

I built my shaker window to this frame with the help of some fun foam, some acetate, and score tape. I adhered my volcano onto the front and added a bit more fun foam behind the volcano for stability, and used score tape to adhere this to my Yupo paper while sneaking in a TON of sequins in there. Like A TON!

I didn’t care for the Yupo Paper that extended past my frame, so I trimmed it down and adhered that to some red paper which I had run some Delicata Golden Glitz along the edge of.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the inside of my card using some Distress Oxide.

I hope I have inspired you, and I hope you’ll find the products you need to create at Kat Scrappiness! If you need a discount code to save a little money, please feel free to use Hannah10 at checkout!

  • Tic-Tac-Toe Valentine’s

    Tic-Tac-Toe Valentine’s

We’ve got less than a month until Valentine’s Day and we are ready for the LOVE! Yup, this is Hannah, bringing you another card for Kat Scrappiness! I was snuggling my kiddo in bed one night, thinking about this card, and the next day I got to make it come true! How fun is that?!?!?! That is what I love about Kat Scrappiness, she’s got such a great and wide variety of products that I can make so many of my dream cards come true!

I started with what has now become my FAVORITE rectangular die ever! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Distressed Edge Rectangle Dies! I am using them all the time now! So I used the largest die out of the set and cut out a rectangle using Neenah Solar White Cardstock in an 80lb weight. I also cut out a second rectangle in order to do my measurements and notes and a third out of fun foam.

I started by finding the center of both the verticle and horizontal points. The smallest of the Double Stitched Hearts by Kat Scrappiness is roughly an inch square, so using a clear ruler I measured half an inch off of either side of the center lines. Because I needed space in between my hearts I measured a quarter of an inch on either side of those half inch lines. I know it sounds like a confusing mess, but take a look at my photo. Really, the important part was figuring out the center inch and making sure I could align the other 8 hearts around it.

I die cut three hearts out of that panel using that Double Stitched Hearts die. Because this is a shaker card! I also cut 6 more hearts out of a pack of Doodlebug paper. On the backside of my Neenah panel taped on acetate using Scor-Tape.

I went back to the fun foam panel, and die cut those same small hearts out using the scratch piece as a template, see the first photo. You can see how I cut out one heart but hadn’t cut the other two yet. Because fun foam can squish when it goes through a die cutting machine it squishes out and cuts a touch larger than you want, just a touch. For this reason, I almost always trim down the edges of my foam panels. I cut all four outside edges as well as the hearts.

Are you reading this right? Each heart shakes separately! Using more Scor-Tape, I adhered this fun foam panel to my Neenah panel, and using MORE Scor-Tape I adhered that to my card base which is made of Neenah Solar White Cardstock in 110lb weight. While I was taping it on I carefully snuck my sequins underneath the acetate hearts as I was removing the Scor-Tape cover. The Hearts O’Plenty sequin pack is the PERFECT sequin mix for this card!

Now that my card was almost completely built, I was able to add those hearts from the patterned cardstock. I popped them up from the panel using 3D Self-Adhesive Squares!

  • Chocolate Valentines

    Chocolate Valentines

Valentines Day is coming! Fortunately, you are in luck because Kat Scrappiness is your Valentine’s headquarters! Kat has so many amazing products in store and there is still quite a lot of time to get your order in! I have a card which was really quick to create but packs a lot of love!

I started with the new Distressed Edge Rectangle Dies I used the largest rectangle die cut a panel with Neenah Solar White in 80lb. Then using the Mini Hearts Stencil from CC Designs and some Distress Oxides I covered that panel with pink hearts! FUN!

I heat set my hearts and dusted them thoroughly with an embossing buddy, then using Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder I heat embossed a sentiment from Kat’s Chocolate Lover’s Sentiment Stamp Set.

Going back to the same rectangle dies, I chose two smaller ones and taped them together to cut out a pink rectangle out of some pink cardstock I had. While the dies were still taped together I cut out several white rectangles out of less expensive cardstock which would be used to allow the sequins to move around in the card. I think in the end I used about 4 or 5 white sections for enough bulk.

I cut a rectangle out of acetate and adhered that to the back of the pink frame using Scor-Tape. Then I started adding my white rectangle layers.

I took an A2 sized sheet of that same pink cardstock and adhered that to my card base (Neenah Solar White 110lb) using my favorite tape runner, then using the same taper runner I adhered my heart/rectangle panel. Using more Scor-Tape I started to adhere the pink rectangle frame in the center, however, I only adhered one side. I very carefully snuck some sequins from the Hearts O’Plenty sequin pack, then I sealed up the other three sides.

And voila! It was done! It didn’t take a huge amount of time, but it did come with a lot of love! Any person would LOVE to receive this card from you! If you need any of these products, use HANNAH10 at check out for 10% off.

I used the following products on this card:

Distressed Edge Rectangle Dies by Kat Scrappiness

    Distress Oxides

Neenah Solar White in 80 and 110 lbs
    Pink Cardstock

  • Hannah’s Top 10!

    Hannah’s Top 10!

Hi there! Hannah Rubenstahl here, from Fanciful Spaces! I can not believe that this is my first Kat Scrappiness blog post for 2018! I am so excited to see what this new year brings to us! With the coming of the new year, I thought it would be a great time to go over my top 10 products that can be found in the Kat Scrappiness shop! Kat carries her own brand of stamps, dies, and sequins, but she also carries a variety of other products! My list combines all of these to bring you, what I think, is the best of the best!

I have a video for you, showcasing these products down below, first here is a collage of my faves!

I also have a card for you! I made this card last year, and I wanted to create a video for it, but never got around to it. I wanted to share it anyway because I thought it was clever and fun!

I started by taking an 8.5″ x 5.25″ piece of paper and scoring it so that the front panel of my card was bisected to open in the center.

Then I took Kat’s Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies and just cut off the edge of the two center portions.

I took some Lawn Fawn paper, cut it down so that it covered the front panels, and also cut with the Fancy Scalloped Edges. I covered the inside with blue cardstock, in order to help hide the scars my die cutting machine left on the underside of my white paper and to add an extra something special on the inside. I needed to offset the fold line so it would fold correctly, which took some trial and error. I also traced the curve of the scalloped edges so that that design element would carry through to the inside.

I colored and die cut these ADORABLE critters from Lawn Fawn using the For You, Deer Stamp and Die sets and snuck those in between the layers of paper, being careful that they overlapped and didn’t cross in front of each other. I used my tape runner to adhere the paper and the cardstock panels, however, I used just a touch of Scor-Tape to help adhere the critters.

I silver embossed the outside edges of my card to help give a more finished look with Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder, however, this embossing powder from Lawn Fawn would be a perfect substitute! I also silver embossed the inside sentiment which is from Hero Arts, a set called Poster Christmas Carols.

Whew, that card took quite a bit of math and work, but it is so different that I think it was worth it! I love the inner sentiment, it still works for these cold January days making that Hero Arts sentiment set work outside of just the Christmas season!

The products I used for this card are:

Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies by Kat Scrappiness
Perfectly Plaid Winter Petite Paper 6×6 by Lawn Fawn
Silver Embossing Powder by Lawn Fawn
For You, Deer Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn
For You, Deer Dies by Lawn Fawn
Poster Christmas Carols by Hero Arts
    Scor-Tape
    Tape Runner
Neenah Solar White Cardstock in 80 and 110lb
    Blue Cardstock

If you are interested in any of the Christmas themed products I used you can save 30% by using 2017CLEARANCE at checkout! This works from now until the 15th and is only good for Christmas items.

If you are looking to save money but aren’t shopping for Christmas items, use HANNAH10 at checkout!

Now, back to that Top 10!
