  • Wedding Heart | Love | Shaker Card

Wedding Heart | Love | Shaker Card

    Hello KS Friends!!

Sheri here with a festive Wedding card featuring the NEW Wedding Heart Shaker Card Kit! If you missed the Shake It Up Release this past weekend you can find the full release HERE.

31 NEW Shaker Card Kits were added to the store and can be found HERE.  The shaker kits are super easy to assemble and just need to be filed with shaker bits of your choice.

    Steps to Create Card:

    • Create 5″ x 5″ Square Card Base (5″ x 10″, scored at 5″).
    • Cut Silver Mat: 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.
    • Cut White Panel: 4 5/8″ x 4 5/8″. Next you can emboss with a favorite embossing folder of your choice or create a faux embossed background like I did. To create a faux embossed background, I cut out approximately 16 hearts (smallest heart from the Layering Nested Hearts die set). I then glued them randomly on my panel.
    • Assemble the White Panel to the Silver Mat and attach it to your white card base.
    • Assemble Wedding Heart Shaker. First I painted the heart with white acrylic paint and to add a bit of shine I did emboss twice with white embossing powder, next I attached the foam heart to my card panel, filled with shaker bits, attached Acetate heart to Wood Heart and then glued it to the foam heart. I used a combination of 1/8″ double sided tape and liquid glue. My shaker is not going anywhere.
    • For a sentiment I added the word “Love” die cut in silver card stock from the Love You w/Shadow die. The sentiment is cut out twice and stacked and glued directly to the bottom of the bridal couple.

  • Clean & Simple “Love” A2 Card

Clean & Simple “Love” A2 Card

Sheri here today with a CAS (clean and simple) Valentine card idea!

I love the look of Clean & Simple cards but sometimes struggle with leaving all the white space.

For today’s card I used the white space to show off the texture of KS NEW Stitched Hearts Cover Plate and just added a trio of hearts and a sentiment! Do you like to make CAS cards?

    Steps to Create Card:

    • Create A2 Top Fold Card Base: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″).
    • Cut White Mat: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
    • Take a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel and cut it out with the Stitched Hearts Cover Plate. Next you will cut down the panel using the Never Ending Rectangles die set to create a panel measuring  3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.
    • Cut out 3 hearts using the second largest die from the Nested Heart die set (2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″). I used Gina K Red Hot, Dusty Rose and Innocent Pink for my colored card stock. For a little added texture I ink blended the edges of the hearts with the coordinating ink colors.
    • Cut the “Love” from the I Love You Shadow die set with red glittler card stock.
    • Cut a Vellum belly band to wrap around card behind sentiment measuring 5″ x 1 1/4″.
    • For embellishment I cut out a few tiny hearts from the Heart Dounut Builder die set to sprinkle on the right side of my card.
    • Assemble Card. To add a little dimension, I used foam tape to pop up the card panel to the card base along with the three hearts.

  • “Love” Mini Slimline Shaker

    “Love” Mini Slimline Shaker

    Hello Friends!

Sheri here today with a Valentine Shaker card idea! I don’t know about you but I’m totally ready to start creating some Valentine themed projects!

For today’s card I pulled out a bunch of my favorite Kat Scrappiness dies and came up with this fun shaker card. It was super easy to create!

    Steps to Create Card:

    • Create a mini slimline card base using red card stock measuring 3 1/2″ x 6″ (7″ x 6″, scored at 3 1/2″ on 7″ side).
    • Cut out the largest die in the Mini Slimline Scalloped Edge die set using white card stock. Panel measures 3 1/8″ x 5 5/8″.
    • Cut Red Mat measuring 2 13/16″ x 5 3/8″.
    • Cut out the Mini Slimline Heart Panel with red card stock.
    • Trim a piece of acetate to fit under the Mini Slimline Heart Panel. Approximate size 2 5/8″ x 5 1/4″.
    • Cut out 2 hearts from the Layering Nested Hearts die set using white card stock (I stacked them to add a little dimension).
    • Cut out 3 “Love” from the I Love You Shadow die set (1 red mirror card stock and 2 white card stock and stack them for dimension)
    • For shaker filler I used a combination of 50 Shades of Red and Red Heart Sprinkles.
    • Assemble shaker window and card.
    • For embellishment I added a few Diamond Rhinestones.

  • Did Somebody Say Cake?

    Did Somebody Say Cake?

Hello hello hello, it’s Lisa from Oh So Cute By Lisa and I am so excited because I am up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today with a really fun card I made for my daughter’s friend’s birthday. I love to take out a bunch of different Kat Scrappiness dies and use them in new and creative ways.  Today I decided to make my own stencils with the Nested Layering Heart Dies. I needed to have a heart shaped stencil to do some ink blending in and I didn’t have anything like that.
I started by taking the 3 smallest dies in the Nested Layering Heart Dies and cut them out of some 6×6 stencil sheets. I just love blank stencil sheets because you can create any stencil you want with dies that you already own. How’s that for getting double duty out of your supplies!
I just love using my Distress Oxide Inks to do ink blending and I thought it would look really neat to do some ink blending over an embossed background.
I took a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and stamped a scripty text background stamp in Versamark embossing ink and sprinkled white embossing powder over the panel. I then heated it until the powder was smooth and melted.
Next it was time to put my stencil to work. I placed my handmade heart stencil all over the panel in different positions even overlapping in certain spots and used 2 different color inks on each heart to get some beautiful blends. I had so much fun making a random pattern using my favorite colors.  I was sort of going for a rainbow effect as much as possible. I just love the look of the text being highlighted over the heart shapes.
I’ll be honest, the ink blending looked way better than I thought it would. I was very happy with how it turned out! Once I liked the layout of the hearts, I used the largest die in the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies to cut out the panel and give it a finished edge. I used a bright piece of pink card stock to matte the panel on so it would really stand out.
For the sentiment I wanted a bold black die cut for the front and the Hooray w/ Shadow die was the perfect choice. I used a piece of vellum paper to back the black die cut and it looked great against the bright rainbow colors. The two smaller sentiment strips matched so well with white embossing on black paper!
And last but not least, what card would be complete without some Sparkling Clear Droplets?
I love how they let the color show through behind them!
I love how this card turned out and I love how with a little creativity and imagination you can create anything you want. You just have to think outside the box sometimes!
Here’s another picture with all of the fun Kat Scrappiness products I used on my card:
Thank you so much for joining me today, I’m so glad you stopped by to check out my latest card and I hope you’ll check out all the fun stamps and dies over at Kat Scrappiness!
