    Thanks

    Hello all,

Creating a fall thank you card today using the slim line dies from Kat Scrappiness along with the large Alphabet dies. Love how easy slim line cards are to make when using these great dies to get the perfect sizing for the different layers.

Started with a slim line card base then die cut the next layer of yellow and added it to the base. Using the Stitched Frame dies, I chose the size I wanted and cut a blue frame to add a space for the message. Next I cut out leaves and blended fall ink colors onto the leaves. Using a leaf stamp I had, I stamped leaf veins onto the leaf cut outs. Before adding the leaves I decided to splat some black paint to the card front. Finally I glued on the leaves to the corners to add additional color.

Using the large Alphabet dies I cut out the word thanks in both black and wood grain paper. I glued the wood grain letters offset onto the black letters creating a shadow for the letters. Thanks was then attached using foam tape to add dimension to the card front. My final step was to add a few sequins.

Quick and Easy Love You Card

    Hello card making friends,

Wanted to share my colorful Valentine card with you today. This is a quick and easy card great for mass production.

I started by cutting 1/4 inch pieces of various patterned paper. These pieces I attached to an A-2 layer 2 piece of cardstock.

Next I cut a Neenah white layer 1. Then using the Kat Scrappiness Large Alphabet Dies I die cut love into the center of the layer.

The layer 1 was attached to the stripped layer allowing the colors to show through.

I die cut the word “you” out of pink card stock and added some pink hearts. I then added a thin black frame. Finally I put the layers onto a matching pink card base.

    Supply List:

    KS – large Alphabet Dies

KS – Condensed Uppercase Alphabet Dies

    Neenah White 110# card stock

  • Fun With Envelope Art

One of the great things about this month’s stamps in the Kat Scrappiness release is that they are so versatile.  You can use them as they were intended or branch out and create all kinds of variations.  The Envelope Art stamp sets are no exception.  For this first project, I used the Giraffe Envelope Art stamp set along with some fun patterned paper to make a safari-themed card.

After stamping the image onto a white card panel, I colored it with Copics, then added some background color using Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink.  I used a stencil brush to add the color instead of an ink blending tool.  This gives a great, subtle, smooth background and allows you to easily put color where you want without hurting your main image.

I decided the sentiment needed a little more interest, so I took a piece of white woodgrain cardstock and colored it with a Copic marker.   I popped it up with foam tape over the original sentiment that I stamped on the sign, then re-stamped the sentiment onto a small strip I colored with the same Copic.  I popped this up with foam tape over the woodgrain piece.

To finish the card, I added a few wood veneer hearts I colored with a red Copic marker.

I made a little envelope and card set for my next project using the Owl Envelope Art stamp set and the Got Coffee word die.

For the frame of the card, I gathered a bunch of the little faces from the Punny Snacks stamp set and placed them on an acrylic block.

I then, stamped them all over the front of a white card panel and cut a frame out using my Neverending Rectangles die set.

Before adding the frame with foam tape, I cut out a question mark from the Large Alphabet die set using some Gina K. cardstock in Wild Lilac.  I heat embossed the coffee cup from Echo Park’s But First Coffee stamp set and added the Got Coffee die along the bottom.  I backed the white die cut with black to give it a shadow effect.

I added a cute little stamped detail to the envelope flap using some of the flowers and words from the stamp set.

Some simple coloring using Copics to match my card finished the envelope.

Lots of options–I hope you were inspired today :).  You can head over to the Kat Scrappiness shop to find the products I used (also listed below).

Be sure to join in this month for the April card challenge where we would like you to show us your envelope art.  The winner will receive a $25 gift card to the shop.  The challenge is open through April 30.  Thanks for joining me today!

  • Happy Heart Day!

    Hi Everyone!

Today I have a card featuring the versatile Large Alphabet Dies by Kat Scrappiness.

The letters make such a nice focal point, I wanted to attach a few together to make an almost chipboard-like embellishment.  I first adhered black “fun foam” to the backs of 2 Xs and 2 Os using liquid adhesive.  This not only gives more thickness, but also gives a nice shadow effect.  You could use other colors as well and those would look great too!

I then clustered the Xs and Os together so they fit nicely, adhering them with flat glue dots.  This bold embellishment would be really great on a scrapbook page too!

I’ve been in love with Lawn Fawn’s new How You Bean?-Conversation Hearts Add-On stamp set.  The little hearts are so fun to color with Copics!  This time, I went with bright colors to offset the black and white of the letters.

After laying out my design, I wanted to stamp a few of the open hearts and a sentiment directly on my card.  I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform to be sure I got everything straight and close enough together.  For a graphic card like this, being precise is very important for the look.

Copics tend to show through cardstock if you color directly on it, so my remedy for that is cute patterned paper.  I took a strip of paper from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petit Paper Pack and added it to the inside of the card where the Copics ran through.  The paper coordinates with the front of the card and adds a cute detail to the inside.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you’ll try this clustering technique with your letter dies.  It’s a fun way to make a bold statement on the front of your card.  All the supplies from the Kat Scrappiness shop are linked below.  Be sure to use my coupon code Heidi10 to receive 10% off your purchase.

Conversation Heart Card by Jess Gerstner featuring Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to be sharing a valentine project for Kat Scrappiness. For today’s cards I will be using two Kat Scrappiness dies including the new fabulous Large Alphabets.

Conversation Heart Card by Jess Gerstner featuring Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts

The inspiration for this card was trying to incorporate the large letters into a card project. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkVNPI3pQr8]

I started by creating a heart card base using the Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts and then I decided on some short phrases that I could cut with the Large Alphabet dies. I used the Lawn Fawn Conversation Hearts Add-on set as some inspiration and the Lawn Fawn Pink Flamingo ink to match the pink letters I diecut. I decided to use pink letters to match the classic look of conversation heart candy.

I think personalizing the card with the initials of someone you love would be another great way to use the Alphabet dies.
