    Foliage Frame Cards

Hi Everyone, it’s Tina here. Today I am excited to share with you 2 cards using the new Foliage Frame Die which I designed. I wanted to thank Kat for having faith in my design. Below you will finds the steps used to create these cards.

    Card #1

    Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Lightly spray the cardstock, as this will prevent cracks when you emboss. Dry Emboss Foliage Frame using the slightly sprayed cardstock through your diecutting machine. Diecut Double Stitched Rectangles for the edge and another for a window.

Step 3 – Trim Acetate slightly larger than the window and adhere to the inside of panel using double sided adhesive glue. Apply foam tape around the window (2 layers). Add Fluffy Clouds Sequins Mix inside the window. Seal it with a slightly larger background panel using patterned paper or a DIY background. I created the background using Distress Oxide Inks Faded Jeans and Broken China by applying the inks on a craft mat. I sprayed it with water and dipped the cardstock, heat set it and repeated until I was happy with the design. Adhere the entire panel to the front of the card.

Step 4 – Diecut word sentiment using White Cardstock. Add versamark directly on the sentiment and sprinkle Brutus Monroe Mermaid Tail. Heat set it with a heat tool. Repeat this step 2 more times. Adhere to card using collage medium.

    Card #2

    Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Lightly spray the cardstock, as this will prevent cracks when you emboss. Dry Emboss Foliage Frame using the slightly sprayed cardstock through your diecutting machine. Apply Distress Oxide Ink using an ink applicator. I used Squeezed Lemonade for the edge and worked in Tumbled Glass to the center. For added interest and sparkle I sprayed Shimmer Spritz. Let dry.

Step 3 – Create a background on scrap piece of White Cardstock. I applied Distress Oxide Inks Faded Jeans, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio on a craft mat. I sprayed it with water. I dipped the cardstock into the ink and heat set. I repeated this step until I was happy with the background.

Step 4 – Diecut Double Stitched Ovals using the background created from Step 3. Stamp sentiment using Versamark towards the bottom of the diecut background. Sprinkle White Embossing Powder. Heat set it with a heat tool. Adhere the panel to the front of the card using foam tape.

Step 5 – Diecut Flitter Side Butterfly using White Cardstock to the Detail die and Patterned Paper or DIY background to the Solid die. Assemble the butterfly using collage medium and adhere to card.

Step 6 – For added interest and sparkle adhere Teal and Dark Blue Jewels using a Crystal Katana and adhering it with collage medium.

  • Welcome Baby!

    Welcome Baby!

The Crafters Essentials 1 die has so many options.  The design team gals have come up with so many great ideas for this set.  I thought today, since I had this cute baby stamp, I would use some of the shapes from the set for a little “welcome baby card”.

I chose these shapes from the set along with some Watercolor Wishes paper from Lawn Fawn.

I cut my shapes using various colors of the paper.  I love how the stitching on these dies are farther apart.  It’s a softer look–perfect for a baby card!

I colored my stamp using various gray Copics, then cut it out with scissors.

I arranged my shapes on the front of a white notecard, using foam squares for some.  I wanted the squares to kind of mimic baby blocks.  I then added a few sequins for shimmer and texture.

  • Creating a Floral Background

    Creating a Floral Background

For this month’s release of the new Stitched Scalloped dies, I wanted to showcase all the ways you can use these dies to create wonderful layers on a card front.  To break it up a bit, I added a layer of background stamping in a unique way……

I started off with a white card stock panel and stamped the floral layer from Hero Arts’ Color Layering Hydrangea stamp set right in the middle.  I followed up by stamping it again right next to the first flower, kind of fitting it in like a puzzle piece.  A stamp platform works really well for this.  I used my new favorite summer-y ink pad from Lawn Fawn–Forget Me Not.  I continued to stamp the flower all around until I filled the panel.

When I was finished, I took one of the Stitched Scalloped Square dies and used it to cut out the center of the stamped panel.

I backed that panel with a piece of gray card stock I cut using one of the Never Ending Square dies.

I layered everything over a note card I made using woodgrain cardstock and added another white scalloped square over the top layers.  A sentiment strip and some sequins finished it off.

Those bright blue hydrangeas remind me of summer at the sea and those layers add such great texture.

Thanks for joining me today.  I have the products from the shop linked below.  Feel free to use my code HEIDI10 to receive 10% off your purchase in the Kat Scrappiness shop.

  • “Thankful For You” Shaker Card featuring Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die by Kat Scrappiness

Hello crafty Friends! I am super excited to stop in today to share a card I created using the newly released Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die and other amazing products by Kat Scrappiness.

I must admit that I am in LOVE with all of the new dies that Kat Scrappiness has been releasing and the new Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die is now one of my fav’s!!!

To begin creating my card, I first decided to work on all of my die cuts. I started out die cutting the Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die by Kat Scrappiness using 110lb White Card Stock.

I then die cut my sentiment using the “Thankful for you” Brush Script Word & Sentiment Die by Kat Scrappiness out of some Card Stock from my ReCollections “Magic Hour” 6X6 Paper Pad.

Because my card base is the standard A2 sized card and because I knew I was going to create a shaker, I then cut a piece of acetate and a piece of card stock (again from the ReCollections “Magic Hour” 6X6 Paper Pad) about 1/8″ smaller than my card base.

I adhered the Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die Cut onto the piece of acetate using some Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and set it to the side to let it dry.

Once dried, I flipped it over and applied Scotch Foam Tape along the edges.

I then used the Fluffy Clouds Sequin Mix Shaker Card Fillers as well as the AB White Butterfly Confetti Shaker Card Filler as my sequin mix and carefully applied the completed Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die Cut (from the previous step), over the sequins to create my shaker.

And to complete my shaker card, I then adhered my sentiment over the top of the Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die Cut.

I am extremely pleased with how this shaker card has turned out and I hope that you have enjoyed today’s quick tutorial on how to create your own shaker card. You can find a complete list of all of the supplies used in this tutorial below. Remember to use Code: Jana10 during check out at the Kat Scrappiness Store to receive 10% off of your order.
