Creating a Single Layer Card with Stamping, Masking and Stenciling | Call Me Crafty Al

    Hello crafty friends!

It’s Alicia a.k.a. Crafty Al here to share a look at the “I Love You” card that I created with Kat Scrappiness goodies including the NEW Falling Hearts stencil!

To get started, I stamped two of the quokkas from the Valentine Quokkas stamp set onto the card front, making sure they would fit within the largest heart from the Double Stitched Hearts die set. Next I made a mask of each image and with the largest heart die – keeping the positive and negative pieces.

I covered up the quokkas with their mask and centered the negative heart mask on the card front before ink blending inside of the heart with red ink. I made sure to keep the edges darker than the center. Once that was done I placed the positive heart mask in the open area and removed the negative. I brought in the Falling Hearts Stencil and ink blended those using the same red.

After removing all of the masks I was left with a fun, single layer card. To finish it off I added some small hearts from the Love is Love Sprinkles.

You can check out my video for the full process…

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed today’s card!

  • Creating a Card Using Scraps

    Creating a Card Using Scraps

Hello friends!! It is Nora here on the blog today with a project that combines paper scraps from the Spring Fling Paper Pack, the Boxed Sentiment Strips Dies and the new Kat Scrappiness Falling Hearts Stencil to create a fun card.

    Card Details:

    • On a white, A2 card base, use the Falling Hearts Stencil and dye inks to stencil hearts on the front of the card. I used the part of the stencil that had the most hearts and had to move my stencil to completely cover the card front.
    • Using the Kat Scrappiness Boxed Sentiment Strips Dies, die cut strips from the various Spring Fling Pattern Papers. I only used scraps from this pack for my card because I had a ton from previous projects. This technique is a great way to use all your paper “extras” that you have when you finish a bunch of cards.
    • Adhere your paper strips to the card front on a diagonal. I did this in a random order because some of my strips were longer than others.
    • I created the “hugs” sentiment by using the Kat Scrappiness Sending Paper Hugs w Shadow word dies to die cut a piece of black Spring Fling paper. I then trimmed the hugs sentiment off and adhered it to my card front. This is a great way to extend the use of your dies.

    • Cover the sentiment with Glossy Accents. This gives the sentiment some weight without adding bulk.
    • Adhere various sizes of Kat Scrappiness White AB Glass Bubbles randomly around the sentiment.

I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by today. Be sure to top by the Kat Scrappiness Blog tomorrow to see some fabulous projects from the other Design Team Members.

    Sending Paper Hugs

Happy Thursday Crafty Friends! Priscilla here from the Kat Scrappiness Design Team. Today I am sharing a “crafty” encouragement card, perfect for a friend that is also a crafter like you! The card features Riley the Moose making a card for someone needing a “paper hug” right about now. Note that he is even working on a familiar glass media mat to make it!

I used the Kat Scrappiness Sending Paper Hugs Word Dies With Shadow, the Falling Hearts 6×6 Stencil, and Stamping Riley Cling Stamp by Riley & Co on today’s card.

    Card Details:

    • Created that familiar looking glass media mat using a white get pen over a black Copic colored mat.
    • Created the “card” element by scoring a small rectangular piece of card stock, adding stenciled hearts on the inside and white heat embossed cursive handwriting on the outside.
    • Adhered the sentiment, image, and card to the front of the card.
    • Adhered three Teal Heart Sprinkles for a finishing touch.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Don’t forget to check out what’s NEW in Kat’s Shop, and follow my blog, Instagram, and Facebook for more “Kat Scrappiness Amazingness”!

  • Birthday Kisses

    Birthday Kisses

Hello Crafty Friends!  Donna W. here with a Birthday Card that features a mixed media vibe and one of the newest stencils.  Before we get to my card, I want to remind everyone of the 50% off All Clearance Sale that is currently on offer at The Kat Scrappiness Shop.  Stop by and check out the Clearance Category, now is a great time to get your hands on some crafty items!

Now for my card!  I love stenciling on projects and have been active in my Art Journal so I’ve been “Mixed-Media”  minded lately.  This birthday card has a stenciled and inked background that is similar to how I break a blank page for my Art Journal.

Using shades of Pink and Purple Ink Sprays, I inked a background panel of watercolor card.  Once completely dry, I’ve stenciled using the new Falling Hearts Stencil and a new Mini Stencil and Ink Blending Brush with ink in a shade of deep violet.  I’ve added splatters of white and silver watercolor paint to the background for that artsy look.

To finish off the design, using the sentiment shadow from the Birthday Kisses Sentiment Die, I’ve die cut from the panel, cut the wording from silver mirror card, adhered all together and popped on craft foam for dimension.   Lastly, Pretty Pegasus Dual Colored Pearls and a doodled frame were added for additional interest.

That’s all I have for you today.  Have a wonderful day, get inspired and Happy Crafting!

    Donna W.
