    Creating a Junk Journal . . . with a Vintage Vibe

Hello Crafty Friends! Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. Today I am sharing a two-page “Junk Journal” spread with a “vintage vibe” using several products from the Kat Scrappiness “Vintage Romance” collection of stamps, dies, and patterned papers. Sometimes it’s just fun to take a break from clean and simple card making and get messy! And with junk journaling, there are no rules! Enjoy!

Along with the Kat Scrappiness Vintage Romance Stamps/dies and Vintage Romance paper pad, I used Kat’s Love is in the Air stencil and Burlap Background stencil to create this junk journal.

    Journal Creation Details:

    • Adhered a vintage feel tissue paper across a two-page spread and sponged turquoise acrylic paint over it.
    • Brushed “Vintage Photo” Distress Oxide ink along the edges.

    • Added the title “Vintage Romance” using tiles from my stash.
    • Adhered a metal embellishment also from my stash for added interest.

    • Created a medallion element by staining a white doily with tea colored ink and then adhering a a circle of patterned  paper from the Vintage Romance paper pad over it.

    • Adhered the medallion to the top of the left page, cutting off the excess.
    •  Sprinkled several heart images from the Vintage Romance stamp/die set across the spread.
    • Completed the junk journal by stapling a fun film strip embellishment to the camera image.

    Eat,Drink & Be Scary!

Hi everyone this is Mona back with a cute journal page featuring Kat Scrappiness brand new stamp and die called Toils &Trouble Layered stamp set.

I started out by putting a thin layer of gesso all over my page . Oh! By the way this is in my Dylusion Creative Journal . Once my gesso was dry I used a brick stencil from my stash and my Dream weaver Stencil brush to add Tim Holtz Iced Spruced Distress Oxide to imitate the bricks.

Once my bricks were dry, I used the same stencil brush and a wood grain stencil this time using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Oxide to make the floor.

While all my background is drying I used the toils and trouble stamp set and my Tim Holtz Stamp platform to stamp 3 cats in 3 shades of grey then I used the matching Die to cut them out.

Here I did the same thing using the skull stamp one in 3 shades of brown and the other using 3 shades of green. I also Die cut those using the matching die.

Sorry for my messy desk ☺️. This is where I drew 3 light bulbs using a pencil and when I was satisfied I used a black sharpie to trace them. I also used a yellow marker to colour the bulb and a grey for the metal part of it. I then glued everything in place using Ranger Multi Medium. Once everything was glued in place I added the twine for the suspended shelf and also for the light bulbs. For the finishing touch, I used my Faber Castell big brush markers to do all the shading and a white gel pen for the highlights.

This concludes my mini tutorial,I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot for stopping by,hope to see you again very soon.

  • Shopping Therapy

    Shopping Therapy

Hello everyone this is Mona back with a fun art journal page featuring Kat Scrappiness brand new Gift Card Holder die.

I started by die cutting three gift bags in different colours.

For the background I Mod Podged yellow tissue paper from my stash, then distressed the edges using Jet Black Ink from Lawn Fawn. I then pulled different dies from my stash to add elements for the shopping bags. Once I had all my elements picked out, I coloured them, and adhered everything into place using my Nuevo Deluxe Adhesive.

I finished off my project by decorating my bags and adding a sentiment. Hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial. Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon. Don’t forget to browse the Kat  Scrappiness store for all your crafting needs, https://www.katscrappiness.com/

    Choose to be happy

Hello everyone this is Mona back with a fun journal page featuring the brand new die set from Kat Scrappiness called Cute Layered Owl Die Set.. everyone knows I love owls so this is a favourite of mine. Let me walk you thru the steps of my journal page.

I started by adding modpodge with torn pieces of script paper  in random places  on my background , once that was dry I added a thin layer of light blue paint on top. Now for the fun part, I used several different stencils from my stash, white and dark blue paint, and stenciled, using my Dream weaver Stencil Brush. For the finishing touch I added a bit of stamping using a old script stamp and some Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink.

These are what I used to cut the elements for my page… Kat Scrappiness cute owl die set and a Stampendous stamp set for the tree. I also stamped a fence twice and fussy cut them. I used my alcohol markers to colour in all my images.

Once everything was cut out, I placed them on my page and adhered them with modpodge. This is where I noticed I needed more stenciling so I added a bit more. I continued by adding the shadow all around my images, used a green marker to add grass and finished off by adding my sentiment.

This finishes off my mini tutorial.  Thank you very much for stopping by . I hope to see you again soon. Bye bye for now ?

  • SEAL AT SEA

    SEAL AT SEA

Hello everyone, this is Mona back with fun art journal page using Kat Scrappiness brand new Seal dies.

I started by using my Dylusions Creative Journal.  I gave a coat of gesso to my background.  I then applied two tones of blue paint to make the sky and my water.  I applied  some white  paint thru a stencil to give it dimension .  Next I took my script stamp and my Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink to stamp at random places to finish off my background.

Now for the fun part I die cut two seals and the iceberg then decided where I wanted them on my page. I proceeded to colour all my pieces using my copics. Then used my big brush markers to add snow mountains in the background and the shadows and highlights around my seals.  I made my sentiment using a large sharpie marker and highlighted with my Uniball White Gel Pen.

This completes my mini tutorial, thanks for stopping by. I hope I see you again soon.

  • Who let the dogs out?

    Who let the dogs out?

Hi everyone this is Mona with another fun art journal page featuring this fun stamp set called Puppy Dog Tales from Kat Scrappiness.

I started by doing my background using a few different items. I first added a coat of Gesso then used my Distress crayons to create the sky and the ground. I then took a stencil from my stash and added texture using again the distress crayons to give it some interest. Once all that was completed I added a light coat of Ranger gel medium to seal everything.

Now for the fun part, I used my stamping tool and Memento black ink to get all my dogs stamped and then coloured them in using my Spectrum Noir markers. I also used my scissors to Fussy cut them.

I used my vagabond to die cut 5 cactus and clay pots from the Year round cactus die set.  Next. I colored them in with my  Spectrum markers.  Once everything was cut and coloured I adhered everything down in place again using the gel medium.

Now for the fun part, adding the final touches. I used my big brush markers from Faber  castell to add the shadow and my white gel pen for the highlights. I also  used my Krystal Katana to add some sequins from Kat Scrappiness.

Thanks everyone for looking.  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. See you again soon!
