Thankful For You Card by Maria

I am so excited to share with you today’s post!  It is that time of the year again.  Falling leaves, sweater weather (at least for some of you), pumpkin spice, and the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Amy Tsuruta and the rest of her team responsible for facilitating this great hop!  I don’t know how you guys do it but you all rock!

Today I made a card showcasing products from the #KatScrappiness shop (www.katscrappiness.com).    THERE IS A SPECIAL COUPON CODE at the shop from September 15th to September 22nd only, so hurry and shop for all the crafty products you’ve always wanted (use coupon code: “COFFEEHOP” for 15% off your order).  THERE IS ALSO A GIVEAWAY!  Kat is a super sponsor and is giving away a $25 gift card from her shop.  Please check all of the details for the giveaway on the www.coffeelovingcardmakers.com.

Here’s my card today and I also have a process video for you if you’d like to see how I made the card.  I didn’t have the dies for this stamp set so I will also show you how I cut the image, using my Brother Scan N Cut 2.  I love this machine and even though it is quite the investment, it will save you money because you don’t really have to buy coordinating dies anymore. [The part where I was showing you how I used the ScanNCut on the video was a bit shaky so I apologize for that.  It was hard to film and do the cutting at the same time. I will be better next time] .

And here’s my process video.  I hope you like my card.  The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Have a wonderful day!

I listed all of the products I used below. Click on the link to go directly to the product. Where available, I used compensated affiliate links which means if you make a purchase I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support.

Otterly Merry Christmas – by Hannah Rubenstahl

Run, don’t walk, RUN to Kat’s shop and grab yourself some of the most recent releases by Lawn Fawn. While you’re there, you need to grab her Never Ending Circle Dies too! I mean, the last bit is a no brainer, because they can be used for an endless number of possibilities, but if you don’t have them yet, add them to your order.

Which of the newest Lawn Fawn items are you grabbing? You want to grab the Winter Otter Stamp and Die Set, as well as the Mini Wreath Die Set. When they first came out I was wondering if I could fit the otter into the wreath, turns out it fits perfectly inside! And if you are anywhere from where there are otters in the ocean, then you’ve seen them play amongst the kelp, which is what the otter in the wreath reminds me of! The Christmas cards I made out of this set were quick, easy, and so different! I am sure a lot of my Oregon and California relatives will get a kick out of seeing an otter in kelp on their cards!

Another REALLY great thing about this card design is that you can make a lot of the same cards, or similar cards, in almost no time. If mass producing is your thing, or if you just don’t have a lot of time, this is the design for you.

To start, I cut my card base down to an A2 size, 4.25″x11″, and I scored it in half. Before I folded it over, I masked the back half of the card and spritzed some Sheer Sparkle Shimmer Spray by Imagine Crafts. The result was a white background with a subtle hint of shimmer, giving my card an incredible festive feel. Then, when that was dry, I stamped my sentiment, also from the Winter Otter Stamp Set using some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

Next, I die cut a circle out of some heavy weight cardstock, I used the smallest circle out of the Never Ending Circle Dies of Kat’s. I used this as a stencil for applying Distress Ink. I layered my blues, in increasingly lighter shades, to achieve the color I wanted, but you could easily do this with just one shade of Distress Ink. Because I was using my cardstock as a stencil, I could make as many circles as I wanted! In this case, I made a total of two circles out of this one stencil.

After the initial circle was stenciled in, I used the next size up in Kat’s Never Ending Circle Dies. While stenciling I tried to make my circles as concentric as possible, I also die cut the circles out of the same thick cardstock making concentric rings. I was going for a ripple effect with my stenciling, and the concentric rings could be used to make a third, slightly different, card.

The only main difference between the cards I’d make out of the stenciled circles and the card I made with the die cut rings is primarily in the colorization. As I stenciled I made my shading go from light to dark, but because the cardstock I used as a stencil got more and more ink on it, the circle it ultimately made went from dark to light. Additionally, in constructing the die cut circle it ended up being a touch thicker than the other cards.

For the card that would be comprised of a bunch of rings, I cut out a circle using the biggest circle used out of another piece of card stock and I colored it with Distress Inks. While coloring the larger circle, I also colored in a smaller circle, one that was created when I initially made my stencil.

The final use I had for the Never Ending Circle Dies was to cut circles out of fun foam using the second largest die that I had used. This will elevate the “water” off of the white base and add a touch of POP! Though this step is completely optional.

I adhered the concentric rings onto the bigger circle using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then adhered all of the circles to their circles of foam using the same adhesive. Once this was done, I stamped the otters, colored them with Copic Markers, and then die cut them out. I also die cut the wreaths and colored them with a green Copic Marker.

I did work hard at getting the otters to look like they were holding onto their kelp wreath, in order to do this I used a craft knife and cut the outlines of their little paws.

These guys were glued to the concentric blue circles, and then using some Scor-Tape I adhered the fun foam to my card base. Viala! In almost the same time that it would have taken me to make one card, I made three! And, you can make a lot more than 3 if you like!

    Crafting Time

Hello everyone this is Mona back with a card featuring  Kat Scrappiness brand new Never Ending Rectangle Dies and a fun stamp from Prima called, Valentina Prima Doll.

I first started by selecting the paper I wanted and took the largest rectangle from the  Never Ending Rectangle Die Set and then skipped one and took the next size and placed them carefully on my paper securing them with washi tape to make sure it wouldn’t move when I pass it in my Vagabond. This made my frame for my card. I proceeded by adhering the frame to my card base which is 4 1/4″x 5 1/2 ” .

Now for the fun part. I stamped Valentina twice, once on white cardstock and once on patterned paper with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink . I coloured the skin and hair on my doll and fussy cut the dress from the patterned paper.  Once that was complete I added a sentiment called Craft Today from Art Impressions and added back cardstock to mat it. For the finishing touch I added Kat’s beautiful sequins called Pink Wood grain sequins.

This completes my card for today, I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial. Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon. For your browsing convenience here is the link to Kat Scrappiness.

    Sending You Prayers

    Hello Everyone!

It’s Heidi, and I’m back with a project using the Never Ending Oval Dies as well as the Waves Border Dies.

Every once in awhile, we need to send cards to people during difficult times.  Soothing words and comforting scenes are always nice options for these types of cards.  I thought the waves paired with a sentiment from Hero Arts Prayers Stamp & Cut set would work really well.

I started off with 3 colors of Distress Ink to create a sunset to go over the water.

Using Post-It tape, I masked off 3 sections to layer the colors with an ink blending tool.

When I was done, I used my ink blending tool and more ink to blend the lines together.

For the waves, I die cut one of each of the Waves Border Dies with an extra scalloped wave to make four total.  I used white cardstock and did not separate them from the paper until after blending some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Cornflower Blue onto each wave.  This was my first time using the mousse and now I want every color!  It blends like butter and gives a subtle  frosted sheen that is so pretty.

After blending the mousse onto the waves, I adhered them to the bottom portion of my notecard using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and cut off the excess on the sides.

Using the second largest Never Ending Ovals die, I cut a frame from navy blue cardstock to adhere to the front of my notecard.

Before securing the frame down, I placed it over the front of my card so I could stamp the sentiment right where I wanted it.

I decided the navy blue frame needed something else, so I took the oval a size below the one I used originally, and die cut it into some white cardstock to create a mat to go underneath the navy frame.

I decorated the word “prayers” with a Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Marker just on the thicker areas to highlight them.

I added a few large sequins from the Rock Candy Sequin Mix and a couple of tiny clear sequins from the Peppermint Twists Sequin Mix.  These little sparkle sequins that come in some of Kat’s mixes are great, because you can use them alone just when you need a little something, but not too much, for an embellishment.  I used Glossy Accents to adhere them to the card.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  You can head over to the Kat Scrappiness store to shop for the supplies I used on this project.  Be sure to use the coupon code: Heidi10 to get 10% off your order.  Have a great day!

    Fairy Friends card with Angeline

Happy weekend! Angeline here with a fairy card for you, coz fairies always make all things magical right? 🙂

I stamped and colored the fairies with Copic Markers from the Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends stamp set, then it’s time to create a scene! I used the Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies by Kat Scrappiness to create the hills and slopes. Who knew right, that a border die could do that? 😀 I also inked the edges of the borders I cut out with the NEW Tim Holtz distress oxide ink [Twisted Citron] to give it some depth.

To create even more depth, I cut out some borders using the Never Ending Rectangle Dies by Kat Scrappiness to make it look like a shadow box frame. And finally, I added some Nuvo Drops Gloss [Apple Green] to the hills and slopes.

Here is the list of supplies I used to make this card. For all the supplies linked, you can get it from Kat Scrappiness store. Do remember to use my code “Angeline10” to get 10% off your order! Happy shopping.

Happy Fall – By Hannah Rubenstahl

Hi there! I am SO excited for today! Today is my FIRST Design Team post for Kat Scrappiness! Oh, by the way, my name is Hannah, I’m the creative card maker behind Fanciful Spaces. Working with the Design Team for Kat Scrappiness is like a dream come true, I can’t believe I am actually doing this!

Kat’s Never Ending Dies are AMAZING, I am utilizing part of her square dies today and I’ll be using a lot of her circle dies in my next post! The options for the Never Ending Dies really are never ending!

Today I am going to show you how I made this super cute fall themed shaker card using Kat Scrappiness products, as well as other items found in her store!

To start, I used the largest of the Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags Dies and cut 3 different layers with it. One using some patterned paper from the A Perfect Autumn paper pad by Echo Park, a second using fun foam (I used orange, but the foam in Kat’s shop works perfectly too), and the third using acetate.

Next, I created my own patterned paper using some white cardstock, a Carta Bella pumpkin stencil, and Distress Inks. I also ran this through the same tagged die I cut the other 3 pieces from. After my patterned paper tag was cut, I lined up the fun foam layer underneath and cut out a square out of the two layers. I used a square from the Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Square Die and tried to line it up as equidistant from all of the squared edges as possible.

The stitching, from Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags, provides the PERFECT line to trim some of the layers down so that they are more hidden when you build everything up. Along the 3 squared sides, I trimmed the fun foam and the acetate layers down, I also cut away the area where the hole is at the top of the tag on all layers except for the top layer we made with the stencil. I glued this all together with some Ranger Multi Medium Matte. The Ultra Fine Tip Applicator needle made this SO much easier (and neater) than it would have been without it!

In between that previous step, before our handmade patterned paper was adhered to the fun foam, I stamped my sentiment on the top of the tag. The sentiment was from the Happy Fall with Squirell Stamp Set by Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set. I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamping Platform and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for perfect placement and stamping!

When I had my top hand-made patterned paper, acetate, and fun foam glued down (in that order) I added my sequins! The bright colors of the Autumn Harvest mix matched my card wonderfully and really added the POP I wanted! There were some jack-o-lanterns, and a few larger leaves that I didn’t need on this card, so I excluded them in order to use them on another card. After I applied some Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the exposed side of the fun foam, I glued down the pattern paper we had cut out from the Echo Park paper in the first step.

While that sequin/tag sandwich was drying I cut down another piece of patterned paper, from that Echo Park A Perfect Autumn pad. I cut this down to an A2 size, 4.25″x5.5″ and adhered this to my white card stock card base. I also cut three lengths of gold embroidery thread and used it to tie a bow through the hole of the tags. Having cut the various layers from the back part of the sequin/tag sandwich this was MUCH easier than when I tried doing so through all of the layers!

I flipped my sequin/tag sandwich over, adhered it to my card base, and then glued on some Copic colored squirrels that I had previously colored from the Happy Fall with Squirell Stamp Set by Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set.

The result is, I hope, a fun and a festive card that anyone would love to receive. While there were a lot of steps in the making of this card they were all fairly easy and together they pack in a WOW factor that will amaze its recipient.

Thank you so much for following my card making story, it is my hope that I have inspired you today! Should you want to CASE my card, or order anything that I’ve inspired you by in this post, please feel free to use the discount code Hannah10 at checkout!
