Swatch Samples using the Swatches Stamp Set

    • Hello everybody! It’s Jana and today I am stopping in to share a few different ways that I have been using the new Swatch Stamp Set that has just been released this month from Kat Scrappiness.  This stamp set comes complete with eight stamps including a large square, rectangle, two circles, a heart, a star, a splatter spot and rectangular box stamp. This set is perfect for swatching out your inks, markers, pens, pencils….just about everything!

In this sample, I have swatched out just a few of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks that I have. I have been looking for ways to swatch out my inks and other various mediums to allow me to easily look through and find a specific color or color combination that I want to use while crafting. In this sample, I used the large rectangle to stamp the ink swatches onto a 2.5 x 3.5 card which I keep in a page protector.  I typed up the names of each ink along with the brand onto sticker paper and applied to each color accordingly.

For this next swatch, I used the open circle from the stamp set and stamped as many as I could fit onto an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. I then colored each using some of my Copic markers that I have and labeled to allow me to see which number and name are associated with each.

For my third sample, I used the boxed rectangle stamp and stamped continually down the page.  I wanted to create a sample page for the Nuvo Crystal Drops that I have. I added a small amount of each Nuvo Drop color and again, typed up labels so that I new the name of the color at first glance.  I also plan to create more swatch pages like this for all of the Stickles I have as well as embossing powders, glitter, etc.

This is an amazing Swatch set and is so versatile too.  Not only can I create any type of swatches I need to, I can use these basic shapes and designs to create simple cards and/or projects as well.

I hope that you enjoyed this quick share of my swatch samples. If you are looking for a way to create your own, you can find the Swatch Stamp Set here. Thank you for visiting and have a fabulously crafty day!

    3 Easy-to-make Patriotic Cards!

Greetings, Friends! Memorial Day and 4th of July will be coming before we know it, how is that possible? It seems as if we JUST celebrated Christmas. This only means one thing, we’d all better get busy crafting in advance! Fortunately, for us, Kathleen has new stamp sets that make this a breeze!

It’s Hannah, by the way, intrepid Design Team Member for Kat Scrappiness. Today I’m sharing you 3 variations on the same card, these options will make your celebratory card making a snap! AND, if you’re mass producing it will provide you with a break from making the exact same card over and over again!

I created these three similar cards using my stamping platform and 2 of Kat’s new stamp sets! The Everyday Brush Strokes set, and Swatches. Additionally, I thought that the Stitched Postage Stamp Rectangle Dies would finish these cards off to perfection while helping to give the Americana look I was looking for.

To start, I lined up one of the brush stroke stamps and the star, from the above-listed stamp sets onto my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform. There are a lot of stamping platforms on the market, but in my opinion, the Tim Holtz one is superior for this project because it allowed me to shift my cardstock as much as I needed, without the worry that my paper would run off the platform. LOVE that option on this tool!

For this card, I embossed the stars and the stripes with Versamark Ink and WOW! Clear Embossing Powder! Then I lightly dusted Distress Inks over the embossing. I believe I used Candied Apple for the red, and Salty Ocean. I used a finger dauber, and made sure that I first brushed it off after I touched it to my pad each time, this helps ensure no harsh lines. Once that was done I took a clean paper towel and burnished off any ink from the embossing, this cleaned up that area and made it shine!

For this card, I used the same Distress Inks but just stamped the inked images directly onto my cardstock. YUP, if you didn’t know, you can stamp using Distress Inks! That was all there was, easy peasy!

Where the other cards were stamped onto Neenah Solar White Cardstock, I stamped the Distress Inks directly onto Watercolor Paper, this time. Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper to be exact. Just like the card before this, I stamped my Distress Ink directly onto the paper. Once my stamping was done I took a wet paintbrush and just carefully ran it over the inked portions of the card.

I adhered my card front to the base using EK Tools Adhesive Foam Strips, the added bulk provided just the extra finishing touch these CAS cards needed!

I used the same stamps, the same set up on my stamping platform, the same dies, and the same inks to achieve 3 different looks. Isn’t it remarkable how flexible our crafting products are? I think that is one of the reasons why I just ADORE paper crafting so much!

    Lots of Envelopes

    ?HAPPY MAIL?

I don’t know about you but that sentence brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it, not to mention when I see it in my mailbox and at my front door!

Welcome back Kat Scrappiness fans, It’s Lisa here today to bring you some fun envelopes to give your snail mail an upgrade!

The April Card Challenge here at Kat Scrappiness is Envelope Art and there are 2 new stamp sets that make it easy to add some PIZZAZZ to your envelopes!  Giraffe Envelope Art and Owl Envelope Art. Here are 2 examples of how you can use the Giraffe stamp set to take your envelopes from drab to fab!

On the first envelope I stamped the Giraffe with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink so I could color him with copic markers and then cut him out so he could sit at the bottom corner and then I added some fun leaves around him. The stamp set also comes with 2 cute stamps that say “to” and “from” in a fun font.  I thought it would be fun to stamp them and highlight them with Lawn Fawn Cilantro ink using the rectangle shape from the Swatches stamp set.  To finish the envelope off I stamped the cheeky sentiment “It has been so long” diagonally near the giraffe’s head.  For the second envelope I stamped the entire Giraffe with his sign and colored him in and then added some fun leaves around the border of the envelope.  The sign is the perfect space to add your recipients name and address. The “to” and “from” stamps look cute in their respective places on the envelope as well.  HAPPY MAIL for KAT!!

The next envelope I have to show you is a mini envelope that is meant for hand delivery as opposed to sending in the mail.  It has a super fun shaker element on the front and uses the star stamp from the Swatches stamp set again and some dreamy Sent from Heaven sequin mix.  I stamped the star with some Golden Glitz Pigment ink by Delicata for a sparkly look.  This envelope will be a keepsake that your lucky recipient won’t stop shaking!

The last 3 envelopes I decorated using the Swatches Stamp Set one more time.  This stamp set is so versatile with its basic shapes and the sky is the limit with what you can create after you’ve swatched your inks and markers with it.  For the top envelope I stamped only half of the circle stamp in a rainbow of Lawn Fawn inks to give the look of a fun scalloped border along the bottom edge.  I highlighted the “to” and “from” stamps with that same circle in red and blue ink.  The “happy mail” sentiment from the Giraffe Envelope Art set was the perfect addition to repeat along the scalloped border.

For the bottom two envelopes in the picture I combined the Swatches stamp set with the Everyday Brush Strokes set for fun side border stamped in Distress Oxide inks.  I love the chalky appearance the Oxide Inks give and I love the look on kraft paper!

I hope that I have inspired you to have some fun with your envelopes today and dress them up with your stamp sets!  It is our responsibility to add some fun to the mailbox for our hard working post men and women!  Not to mention distracting your recipient from those nasty bills and junk mail!

    Bring on the Coffee……

    Hi Everyone!

I’m back with a cute gift card project using Kat’s new Layered Coffee Cup die set.  This is a very realistic looking take out coffee cup when it’s all put together.  I love all the options you have for assembling it.  For this card, I chose to use some Doodlebug paper to decorate the the cup and images from the Owl Envelope Art  stamp set to decorate the sleeve and the little gift card holder inside.  I had to turn it into a shaker since the flowers matched Kat’s Mixed Floral sequins.  I have lots to show you!

To start, I die cut all the coffee cup pieces in white except for the little cup outline and the opening of the cup.  I did the outline in black to give some shadow to the cup and I did the opening in kraft paper to make it look like coffee.  I covered the cup with some Doodlebug Swiss Dot paper and gathered some bright Lawn Fawn inks to stamp the flowers from the Owl Envelope Art stamp set onto the coffee sleeve.

My 2-way glue pen was helpful in attaching the white outline of the top of the cup to the “coffee”.

For the inside of the shaker, I wanted to use just the “Coffee” word from the Echo Park But First Coffee stamp set, so I cut apart the “Coffee” from the rest of the sentiment.  It’s easy to do if you’re careful and have sharp scissors.  You can put the words back together again then, and use the stamp as you normally would.

After stamping the “coffee” on the front of the card in light gray ink, I created the shaker frame using the Neverending Rectangle dies and attached the coffee cup to the front of it.  I poured some of the mixed floral sequins down on the card and adhered the frame over the top with foam tape.

I stamped “coffee”on the inside of the card as well and added another sentiment from the But First Coffee stamp set.  I stamped it on a Double-Stitched Heart die.

For the inside of the card, I created a pocket for a gift card.  I first folded a piece of white card stock over the gift card to get the size correct.  I left about a half inch on either side and scored it close to the edge of the gift card.

I then, snipped across the fold with my scissors to the score line.

After stamping some flowers from the Envelope Art Owl stamp set as I did on the coffee sleeve, I folded in the snipped edges of the gift card pocket and secured them with Scor Tape.  I then trimmed off the excess with my paper trimmer.

Here is the finished card inside.

I added another thin frame to go inside the shaker frame made from gray card stock.  I thought this made the card look a little more “finished” on the outside.

Thanks for joining me today.  I hope this card has given you some great ideas for using the Layered Coffee Cup die set.  You can purchase this over at the Kat Scrappiness shop and see the “key” for assembling all the parts.  Feel free to use my coupon code: Heidi10 to receive 10% off your order.  I have all the products I used from the Kat Scrappiness shop linked below.  Have a great day!

    Owl Card Gift Set

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a fun gift set using the new Owl Envelope Art stamp set!!

My niece absolutely loves owls (and birds in general!) and loves crafting with me so when I saw this set I knew I wanted to make her a set of cards that she could finish/color and give to her friends! I started by stamping this owl + sign on some white A2 envelopes. It’s tricky for me to stamp with large images, but this one was easy to use! I just had to clean out the middle of the sign on the stamp itself before I put it to paper because I tend to smoosh my ink pad in there and get ink everywhere lol!

Then I stamped the little individual owl from the new Owl Envelope Art stamp set 3x onto a card front. I also used the bold Happy Mail sentiment. I figured that was sentiment enough on the outside; she could put whatever sentiment and message she wanted on the inside and it would definitely still be relevant!

Because I gifted her with some crayons to color these cuties up, I didn’t worry about what ink pad I used. So I just grabbed the closest one to me lol!! It ended up being the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad. I had to use my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform to stamp that image out because I wanted to make sure it was a nice dark-lined image for her to color but it worked out so nicely! Stamping multiple times in the exact same spot was a piece of cake with that platform!

I’m sure she’ll love it… and I’m also pretty sure I’ll be stamping out more for her very soon! Thanks for stopping by friends!

    lovies, =o) kel

    Why, Hello, My Crafty Friend!

    1. Happy Spring, my crafting friends! It is Hannah here with another project showcasing Kat Scrappiness products! Kat has really been building up her brand’s products lately. This means that there is no end to the creative possibilities!

Today’s card is no exception, it features one of her new dies, along with one of her older dies! Her new die is the Scripty “Hello My Crafty Friend” which is not to be confused with her small word and die sentiment which says the same thing. Different sizes, different fonts, different price points, LOTS of options. See both of these dies here!

I paired the sentiment with the Wonky Wavy Rectangle Dies, I thought the stitching worked PERFECTLY as a border for the sentiment.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

    Creating the Card:

    1) Using Distress Oxides, you could just as easily use any ink you have, I covered 6 panels of cardstock with 1 color each in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. Then I cut them up using my paper trimmer so that they were in thin strips. Cover a panel with a sheet of Scor-Tape and layer those strips. Layer another sheet of Scor-Tape over the top and cover that with clear glitter. This is the BEST part!

    2) Cut an A2 card panel and die cut with the largest of the Wonky Wavy Rectangle Dies, and then with the Scripty “Hello My Crafty Friend” die.

    3) On a card base, layout where the top layer will go, the die cut layer and remove the most extreme edges of your word die, if it hasn’t been removed already. Carefully add tick marks on the card base, using a pencil, to mark where the top and the sides of the sentiment go. This step is important because it will allow you to lay your inlaid rainbow in the correct spot. Once you’re sure the rainbow strips are in the right location adhere this down, I used Scor-Tape for this.

    4) My front card panel was ONLY adhered to the glittering rainbow. I did this for a couple of reasons: First: I didn’t want my card front to be extraneously elevated from the front. Second: If I had taped the whole thing, you’d see indents for the edges of the rainbow panel. I used SO MUCH Scor-Tape, and to keep it even more secure I used a bunch of Ranger Multi-Matte Medium, to ensure the finner bits stayed down, and to act as back up for the tape.

    5) Glue down the negative bits of the sentiment using more Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. I found out that the Crystal Katana was an EXCELLENT tool for this job! I’ll be doing a video shortly, for Kat Scrappiness, showcasing this tool soon. Look for it shortly! P.S. If you can, leave the entire sentiment in the panel and remove slowly, after you’ve adhered the negative bits. This makes lining up the negatives of the letters a breeze!

The final result is a CAS card that is sweet, cheerful, and bright! 😀

Cards from the Swatches Stamp set

Hi everyone!  It’s Caren here and today I have three cards using the Swatches stamp set from Kat Scrappiness.  I wanted to showcase how this stamp set can be used other than making swatches.

For the first card, I used the solid circle stamp with a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks.  I used a stamp positioner tool to get the spacing precise.  I then heat embossed with white powder the sentiment from Everyday Brush Strokes from Kat Scrappiness on a piece of black cardstock.

For the next card, I used the solid star stamp again with a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks.  I used a stamp positioner tool to get the spacing precise.  I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I then wrapped pink and white twine around the top of the card and tied a bow.

The last card used the same techniques as the first two with the solid square stamp.  The stamped the sentiment, from Lawn Fawn’s Simply Celebrate stamp set, in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!
