    Fall Leaves

Welcome back to the blog Kat Scrappiness fans!

It’s Lisa here today and I have a sparkly card to share with you!

The new Fall Crafters Essentials dies has a maple leaf shape in it that I am in love with! I’m not usually a fan of fall colors but I do love seeing these leaves in a variety of oranges and browns.

I wanted a pile of leaves that look like they just fell off the tree so I got out a variety of glitter paper in brown, orange and gold. The tree die is also from the Fall Crafters Essentials die set and it’s perfect for all of your Fall cards and projects.

I thought the sentiment from Happy Fall Y’all was so appropriate for this card, and it’s true, you’re never too old to play in the leaves!

I finished the card off with some clear jewels scattered around the sentiment for some extra shine!

Make sure to check out and follow the new Kat Scrappiness Fan Group Facebook page if you haven’t already! You will find inspiration, sales and lots of other fun activities!

In other news, Kat Scrappiness is also hosting a blog hop in December to benefit a local charity called “The Coffee Oasis” and we would love for you to be a part of it!  You can get all the details here as well as linking up your blog or YouTube channel to join in!

    Merry Christmas Critters

Hi Eveyone, it’s Tina here today. I have a Holiday card to share with you using the new Merry Critters Stamp Set and the Double Stitched Rectangles Die. Below you will find the steps to replicate this card.

    Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/2″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)

Step 2 – Trim White Cardstock to 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Apply Distress Oxide Ink using an ink applicator to create a sky. I used Tumbled Glass starting from 1 1/2″ from the bottom and working up to Stormy Sky. I sprayed it with water to create some droplets. I sprayed som Shimmer Spritz for some added sparkle. Once dry I placed the Snowed In Stencil and applied Nuvo Glimmer Paste Moonstone. Let dry.

Step 3 – Stamp Merry Critters images using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Color in the images with medium of your choice. I used Winsor and Newton Promarkers. Fussy cut the images or use a scan n cut.

Step 4 – Dry Emboss the scene from Step 2 using the 2 largest dies. Spray a little water to help prevent cracking of the paper. Adhere to the card front using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive Glue.

Step 5 – Optional – Create hills – Stamp sentiment in bottom right corner using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Adhere to card front using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive Glue and foam tape for the last layer.

Step 6 – Adhere the images from Step 3 using collage medium and foam squares for the tree. Using a white gel pen add some snow to the tree.

Step 7 – For added interest and sparkle adhere Dark Blue Jewels using a Crystal Katana Tool and collage medium.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. The Merry Critters Stamp set is a fun way to create your holiday cards. Below is a link to all the products used. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

    Golden Autumn Leaves Card

Good morning, crafters!  This is Cynthia for the Kat Scrappiness Design Team, and I’m bringing you a fun Autumn project today featuring some beautiful new items. I’ve used the Kat Scrappiness Crafters Essentials FALL die set, and the lovely Happy Fall Y’All stamp set to create my card.  Follow along with me and I will walk you through the steps to create this project for yourself.

My first step was to cut my background panel using this gorgeous cover-plate die featuring a leaf cutout and stitched detailing.  I used a rich red card stock over a kraft card base for warm and toasty colors.  I also sponged the edges of my background with some Memento Rich Cocoa ink to add even more warmth to the design.  If you’ve never sponged your edges, I really encourage you to give it a try – you can use any color you want, and it really makes your layers pop!

Next, I used the die to cut out some leaves.  I used more kraft card stock, this time covered in a layer of double-sided tape.  I made sure that the tape was on top of my leaves because of the foiling I’m going to do.  These pretty leaves can be cut for many different projects.  I’ve seen one of our designers make a wreath with them and it’s beautiful!

I carefully removed the release paper from the stick tape, then used some gilding flakes to cover the fronts of my leaves.  This happens to be the Cosmic Shimmer “Red Blaze” flakes that I used, but there are many choices you could make here – including using foil sheets.  I am just in love with these particular flakes and all of their rich colors, so it was a perfect choice for this project.  A word of warning:  these flakes get EVERYWHERE!  Please make sure your window is closed, no fans are blowing, and you don’t breathe directly on the flakes.  I worked carefully on a sheet of typing paper to contain the pieces, and then tapped the excess back into the jar when I was done.

Once the flakes were burnished (I just rubbed them with my fingertip), I nestled one of them back into the die cut opening and added the other two.  These were popped up slightly on some thin foam squares to add a touch of dimension.  Don’t you just love all the colors?  I could cover the whole dang card with these flakes! Luckily, I restrained myself and left plenty of room for some stamping  🙂

This lovely quotation stamp is from Kat’s Happy Fall Y’All stamp set, and I thought it was perfect for this card.  I stamped it in VersaMark embossing ink and used a fine detail gold powder I had in my stash.  I also took one of the leaf stamps from the same set and added a couple of them to frame my sentiment.  I think the gold powder stands out beautifully on this dark red card stock, and it looks great with the colorful leaves.

And here is my finished card.  I am so happy with the way this turned out!  I think it’s simple but elegant, and I hope that you like it, too.  Both the Happy Fall Y’All stamp set and the Crafters Essentials FALL die set are available now in the Kat Scrappiness shop, and I’ve included a shopping link below.  Don’t forget to use your coupon code “CYNTHIA10” to get 10% off your entire order, including these new items.  Have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you all again soon!

Merry Christmas Critters – Box Card

    Hi Crafters!

Today, I have a fun box card I made using the new Merry Critters stamp set from Kat Scrappiness.  Box cards are so fun to make and receive!  They are also pretty easy to make with so many options.

I colored all the images from the Merry Critters set with my Copic markers.

    01

I used the box card die from Lawn Fawn.  Several companies offer them.  Here are a few that are available that are available at Kat Scrappiness. I used various pattern paper from Lawn fawn to the panels of the card.  I then added the critters and sleigh to the inside of the box.  I attached a piece of black and white bakers twine from the sleigh to the cute reindeer, so that it looks like he is pulling the sleigh.  I stamped the sentiment Merry Christmas (also from the Merry Critters set) to the front panel and added the tree and gifts.

At this point, I thought I was finished with the card, but also thought it was missing something.  Mona, from the design team, suggested snowflake sequins – which was perfect!  I used snowflake and tree sequins from the Sugarplum Fairies and Frozen II sequin mixes from Kat Scrappiness.

Hello my crafty friends! Maria here on the blog today with this cute Halloween Card, showcasing the Crafter’s Essentials – Fall Die Set, Stitched Scalloped Border Dies, some Purple Jewels and Distress Oxide inks.

I have a video tutorial for you today (link below) so I will keep this blog post short.  Here’s my card:

I love the “evening sky” colors I blended using my distress oxide inks.  I didn’t want to use the typical orange and black for Halloween.   Here’s a little close-up:

Don’t you just LOVE the stitching details to the die-cuts?  Also love the Purple Jewels.  It just adds a little more oomph to the overall card design.
