    Chanukah is Almost Here!

Welcome back to the blog Kat Scrappiness fans!

We interrupt this Christmas card making frenzy to bring you a few Chanukah cards. Since Chanukah is so early this year you might want to start making some cards now so you have them in time!

Chanukah starts December 3rd this year so you don’t have much time, but don’t worry because I have 2 extra cute cards to share with you to give you some ideas.

The first card I made uses the stamp set by Stamping Bella called

    “Teeny Tiny Townie Chanukah”

After I stamped and colored the cute little girl and menorah I die cut the image out with the second largest Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Black Onyx ink under the image, it’s my favorite go to ink for stamping crisp black sentiments.

To add some color to the background I pulled out my Doodlebug Swiss Dots Paper Pack The yellow and blue dot paper matched the card perfectly.

To add some sparkle to the card I reached for some Yellow and Blue jewels and spread them out in varying sizes. I love using my Crystal Katana for picking up jewels and sequins, it makes it so easy!

My go to adhesive for adhering jewels and sequins is Glossy Accents.

    ✡︎ ✡︎ ✡︎ ✡︎ ✡︎

The second Chanukah card I have to share with you today features an adorable Chanukah stamp set by Neat and Tangled. This set is called Darling Dreidels and will be available in the shop very soon!

Here is my second card using that set:

Those cute little Dreidel kids were so much fun to color! I cut out the star wreath using the Avery Elle Star Frame die in metallic gold paper. It really gave my card some extra shine and interest! I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment in Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossing it with WOW Clear embossing powder. I backed the sentiment strip with a black piece of card stock to really make it stand out.

This has to be one of the most unique Chanukah stamp sets I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to make some more cards with it!

If you are in need of Chanukah cards this year I hope I have inspired you!

If you would like to go shopping at Kat Scrappiness for any of the products I have used on these 2 cards you can use my code Lisa10 and save 10% on your order!

    Holiday Cards Galore!

Hey Everyone! It’s Priscilla again! Since this is my last post as the November Guest Designer for the  Kat Scrappinessblog, I admit I went just a littlecrazy making Holiday cards with so many of the amazing goodies from Kat’s latest release.

Nothing says Christmas like “stockings hung by the chimney with care.” The Kat Scrappiness “Christmas Stocking Banner Die” was so much fun to work with.

Let’s take a look at two cards I made with it.

    Card #1:

For this card , I removed two of the six stockings so I could fit them on the front of an A2 size card, which I die cut using the largest of the Kat ScrappinessCross Stitched Rectangle Dies“. I inked the background with the Distress Oxide“Fire Brick Red” through a brick patterned stencil. I created the mantle out of wood grain paper and inked it up with several brown Distress Oxideinks. I had fun “dressing” the stocking with patterned paper and of course, fur. LOL! The sentiment is from the Kat ScrappinessMerry Critters” die.

    Card #2:

This time I used all six stocking on an 7″ x 4.25  card base. The brick background for this card was created using texture paste tinted with a Distress Oxide“Pumice Stone” reinker and spread it over the same stencil as the previous card. I dressed the stockings with black velvet card stock, black/gray/white buffalo plaid paper, and burlap. Snowflake sequins from the Kat Scrappiness Snow Flurries Sequin Mix” collection were my finishing touch.

For Cards #3 & 4, I used images and sentiments from the Kat Scrappiness“Merry Critters” stamp set again.

    Card #3:

Rudolph is working over time hauling Santa’s gifts on Christmas Eve. For the night sky, I used texture paste over a snowflake stencil on metallic navy card stock. The Kat ScrappinessHo Ho Ho Brush Script and Word Sentiment” die completed this card.

    Card #4:

For this card I made a “collage” scene with the “Merry Critters” stamp images, and Copic colored them before fussy cutting them out. I used patterned paper inside each area of the die cut collage frame before foam mounting the critters, the tree, and the gifts. The two sentiments, also from the “Merry Critters” stamp set. are white heat embossed.

Card #5 was such a clean & simple card to make using the Kat ScrappinessHolly Leaves & Berries”dies.

I used  one of the holly leaves dies to cut two matching leaves out of red/black buffalo plaid paper. I also cut out two eyes and a nose from some of the berry dies. The card stock layers were cut with the Kat Scrappiness“Cross Stitched Rectangle” dies. The “Merry Christmas” sentiment is from the “Merry Critters” stamp set.

For Card #6,  I used two new dies, “Fancy Floral Cover Plate” die and “Happy Holidays Brush Script and Word Sentiment” die.

This was a super easy card to make! I simply die cut the “Fancy Floral Cover Plate” from gold card stock and adhered it to a bright red card stock under layer. Then I die cut the “Happy Holidays” die from green card stock and adhered it on a gold strip and placed it across the center of the card. The Kat ScrappinessChristmas Cheer” sequins, scattered about, were the finishing touch.

And for my final card I used one of the just released Kat ScrappinessCrafters Essentials Winter Dies,” which includes this A2 sized “Cut & Emboss Stitched Snowflake Swirl Background die,” combined with theKat ScrappinessHappy New Year” die.

I ran this really unique background die through the Big Shot the first time to die cut it out on navy metallic card stock, with a 2nd pass through using a silicone embossing pad to add the raised snowflakes you can see in the final card. I die cut the “Happy New Year” sentiment out of sliver glitter card stock and adhered it to the front of the card. Finishing touches? I tinted the white snowflake sequins from the Kat ScrappinessSnow Flurries Sequin Mix” silver and sprinkled them across the front of the card.

The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “Priscilla10” for 10% off your order at the shop.

And on a personal note, it’s been a real honor to have been the November Guest Designer on the Kat Scrappiness Blog.

    Build a Stocking

    Hi Crafters!

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week!  Where has the time gone?  I’m looking forward to decorating for Christmas though.

I’m in love with the Build a Stocking die set that was just released at Kat Scrappiness.  I started making one for the release, and I couldn’t stop making them.  I made five of these for my niece and nephews.  There are so many options that you can use these for.  I’m going to use these as gift tags.  These could easily be added to a card front.  They can be cut out using felt and would make great ornaments!

I loved that I could use some of the plethora of Christmas pattern paper that I’ve been hoarding.  I customized each one with my niece and nephews’ name using an alphabet stamp set.  Here is a close up of each one.

Crafting with the Foliage Frame and Snowflake Kisses Dies

Hey Everyone! It’s Priscilla again, happy to be back as the November Guest Designer on the Kat Scrappinessblog. Today I have several cards to show you, all using the new “Foliage Frame” and “Snowflake Kisses” dies from Kat‘s new release.

I had a blast creating some “snow themed” cards with these, then a Christmas one, and finally some autumn-inspired Sympathy cards.

    Here’s my first card:

I used several blue toned Distress Oxide Inkson a white die cut “Foliage Frame,” and then sprayed it with a shimmer mist to give it that “frosty” look. I layered a second frame under it to give it more dimension before adhering it to slate blue card stock layer that I had sponged “Picket Fence”Distress Ink through the opening of a snow stencil. Next, I die cut three  “Snowflake Kisses” from heavy white card stock, adhered them together to make one very dimensional sentiment, and centered it at a slight angle in the leafy opening of the card. For finishing touches, I sprinkled Kat Scrappiness‘s “Snow Flurries”sequin mix around the sentiment.

    On to Card #2:

I created a similar card, but this time I added “snow” on the leaf edges with a “Snow Marker”. I also changed the sentiment to match the sponged blue frame before adhering it to a white “bead board” background. Again I sprinkled some of the “Snow Flurries” sequin mixture across the front of the card.

For Card #3, I added the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Kat ScrappinessMerry Critters” stamp set to make the snow themed card into a holiday one.

I also sponged blues and purples Distress Oxide Inksto make a striking back drop for the white die cut “Snowflake Kisses” sentiment. I added a die cut snow bank and two  snowflakes in the left bottom corner. This snowflake die was part of the “Snowflake Kisses” die set .

Here’s all three cards using the “Foliage Frame” and “Snowflake Kisses” dies!

Not wanting to put this foliage die away quite yet, I made three  autumn-inspired Sympathy cards that I unfortunately needed to send.

This time I sponged “Fire Brick,” “Dusty Concord,” and “Fossilized Amber” Distress Oxide Inksonto the “Foliage Frames,” which I had first run through a “wood” design embossing folder, and then added rose gold heat embossed accents. I mounted two of them on eggplant colored card stock, and one on deep navy card stock. I use the same rose gold embossing powder and covered the Kat ScrappinessSorry” die cuts with it and adhered them in the centers of the frames. For the middle card, I found an appropriate sentiment in my stash and heat embossed it in that same rose gold powder.

The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “Priscilla10” for 10% off your order at the shop.

I’ll see you later in the month with more cards from the Kat Scrappinessnew release.

November Release Christmas Cards by Maria

Maria here on the blog with you today!  Have you checked out the new dies and jewels available now from the November release by Kat Scrappiness?  They are to die for!  I can’t even pick a favorite.  Wait til you see the dies next month, hint, hint!  They are fabulous!!  You really need to save up your Christmas money for those.  Or ask Santa to check out your Christmas wish list at the shop then maybe he will be good to you this year!

Since my design team package got a little delayed getting to me, I am on catch up mode.  I created two projects for you guys because I really wanted to show them off!  For my projects today, I am featuring the Holly Leaves and Berries die set, Fancy Floral Coverplate die, Merry Critters stamp set, Avery Elle Starry Scene stamp set, 6mm Sparkling clear solid confetti, Metallic Silver Solid Star Confetti, Stitched Scalloped Border Dies and a bunch of other products available at the shop.

For my first card, I stamped the Merry Critters stamp set and the mountains from the Starry Scene stamp set with a Copic friendly ink and colored them in with my Copic markers.  I fussy-cut the images with my scissors.  On another piece of Neenah solar white card stock, I stamped the mountains from the Avery Elle Starry Scene stamp set.  I adhered this piece onto my A2 size card base.  I used the coordinating die to die-cut both pieces to create the window.  I adhered this piece inside my card.  I also adhered the mountains inside the window.

I used a patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and die-cut a piece with the Stitched Scalloped Border Dies to create my grass hill.  I adhered this piece onto my foreground and added my little critters.

To finish my design, I die-cut some gold stars and stamped the little snowflakes with some light gray ink.  Here’s a little close-up:

I really love how this card turned out.  The critters are so cute.  That little bird reminds me of tweety so much.  The little starry background is just the perfect size to create a beautiful scene to your cards.

For my second project, I die-cut a piece of some heavy weight white card stock using the Fancy Floral Coverplate die.  I know this die is not really meant for Christmas but I always want to share ideas on how to stretch your dies by using it for any occasion.  I covered this piece with some acetate sheet and added foam adhesive to create my well.  I used the 6 mm sparkling clear solid confetti with the metallic silver solid star confetti for my shaker element.   I know you can barely see them in the photo but trust me, this is so pretty in real life!

To finish my design, I die-cut the Merry Christmas sentiment with red foil card stock.  I also die-cut the holly leaves and berries with some Lawn Fawn patterned paper and red foil card stock.  I adhered the pieces using my Nuvo liquid adhesive.  Here’s a little close-up:

The holly leaves are so pretty!  As I mentioned earlier, I can’t pick and choose my favorite from the November release.  They are all AMAZING!!!!!

I hope you like my projects today.  The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  I would be grateful if you can click on the links provided.  By doing so, I will be getting a little commission at no cost to you!  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “MARIA10” for 10% off your order at the shop.   Happy crafting!

    Winter Wonderland Shadow Box Card

    Hello Kat Scrappiness fans!

It’s Lisa on the blog with you today and I have a Winter Wonderland to share with you in the form of a shadow box card.

I made my card following a tutorial on YouTube that can be found here.

For my card I used one of the new releases in the shop called the

    Crafters Essentials Winter Dies.

    This set of dies include:

    Two stitched snow drift/hills

One die with three pine/Christmas trees

    One deer die

An A2 sized *Cut and Emboss Stitched Snowflake Swirl Background Die

***(Click here to see a YouTube video showing how to cut and

    emboss with this background die.)***

Here is the inside of my card using all of the dies from this new set.

I used the Stitched Swirl Background Die for the back drop of the card and I layered the stitched snow drift on top of it.  I adhered the trees and the deer to the front layer of the box for some dimension.  The 3 snowflakes are from the Snowflake Kisses sentiment die and I glued one down to the background and the other two to the outer frame.

The snow drift, trees, deer and snowflakes were cut with glitter paper for some extra sparkle.

I went pretty simple with the front of the card since the inside is so detailed.

The largest Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die in glitter paper was the perfect shape

to showcase the Happy Holidays sentiment.

Three snowflakes from the Snowflake Kisses sentiment look so pretty around the sentiment.

Here is a link to a short video showing the 3 dimensional properties of the card.

Guest Designer & Build a Stocking Dies

Hey Everyone! My name is Priscilla and I am honored to be the November Guest Designer on the Kat Scrappiness blog. I am a 6th grade teacher by day, and when not grading papers, I’m crafting cards like a crazy lady at night. Hopefully, my teacher colleagues at school love receiving them! LOL!!

Let’s get to the cards! So many awesome products in this new release! I didn’t know where to begin creating. But I quickly settled on Kat Scrappiness’s  adorable new “Build a Stocking” dies, combined with a Christmas sentiment from the new “Merry Critters” stamp set. Creating one card just wasn’t enough . . .  I had to create three . . . and could have made 50 more!

When I first opened the die set, I looked at the pieces quizzically, trying to figure out what was the strange shaped die under the stocking in the picture below. Then it dawned on me it was the front of the stocking, which would allow me to create the toe and the heel in a different colored card stock or pattern. Sweet engineering, I’d say!

For my first card, I created an elegant gold and black stocking. Perhaps showing you the pieces die cut out will help you understand how easy it was to “build” this stocking.

It was so quick to assemble! I simply adhered the black “suede” stocking front to the gold glimmer stocking base, added the black oval opening (later on I changed it to the gold glimmer card stock), and then stacked three gold glimmer Christmas trees to create a dimensional “embellishment” on the front of the stocking. Then I got this crazy idea to add real (not really) fur trim to the top of the stocking!!! So fun!

Next, I dry embossed a white card stock layer with a brick design, mounted that to the same gold glimmer card stock I used on the stocking, and adhered both layers to a white card base. I then stamped “Merry Christmas” from the Kat Scrappiness  “Merry Critters” stamp set on a white banner strip, heat embossed it in black, and foam mounted it on the right side of the card. Finishing touches?  I added a few gold snowflakes from the new Kat Scrappiness“Christmas Cheer” sequin mix and a metal brad to “hang” the stocking “by the chimney with care.”

I loved how stocking card #1 turned out!

I repeated the assembly process for stocking card #2, but switching the color combo to red/black buffalo check and black, with a black die cut snowflake for the stocking front. And you guessed it! “Fur” again for the trim at the top, but this time in black. I dry embossed a background of white pine branches, mounted that on red card stock, and adhered both layers  to a white card base. I sprinkled a few red “ornament” sequins from the same Kat Scrappiness “Christmas Cheer” sequin mix to finish off this card.

    Here’s a close up of Card #2.

I was on a Christmas stocking roll by this time, so Card #3 came together quickly. The red/black buffalo check and black papers were replaced by black/white buffalo check and black, the stocking embellishment was now a black heart, and the white ‘fur” returned. The dry embossed background switched to a snowflake pattern with a black card stock layer behind it. I finished the card by adding a black enamel heart on the sentiment strip.

    Here’s Card #3.

I love how these three cards came together. Not sure which one is my favorite. Let me know which one you like the best.

The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “Priscilla10” for 10% off your order at the shop.

I’ll see you later in the month with more cards from the Kat Scrappiness new release.

    Happy crafting!
