Creating a Spotlight Effect

valentines card, valentine's card, love you, Kat Scrappiness, Nicki Hearts Cards

Hi, everyone! This is Nicki from the design team here at Kat Scrappiness. I have a full instructional video on the YouTube channel so make sure to check it out.

First, let’s start with the stitched heart background die and some beautiful blue card stock. After running this through a die machine, it’s time to add some shadows to work on the spotlight effect. I used Black Soot distress oxide ink to darken the edges of the background.

While the background was drying, I die cut the “love you” die from Bristol smooth paper. Next, I ink blended with a darker color at the bottom fading to light at the top of the letters. I used Festive Berries because it matches the clay heart embellishments that I am going to use.

After I finished the ink blending, I glued the sentiment to the vellum shadow. Next, positioned it in the center of the card and added clay hearts around the sentiment. I hope you enjoyed this project! Make sure to check out the YouTube video for all the details. Please click through the links below if you are going to the store today.
