    Under the Sea

    I Hello Friends!

Today I am making a card with one of my favorite dies. It is the Under the Sea die by Kat Scrappiness. I love how it creates a beautiful back drop with so many options.

I started this card by cutting a layer 1 in white card stock. I next color blended some blues and teals over the entire piece. Once satisfied with the color range I die cut the background. I cut a card base out of black card stock to mount the Under The Sea Background.

Once the background was mounted I knew I needed to anchor the growing scene. I cut a piece of brown card stock free hand to create a sandy ocean floor. I dotted this sand with dark brown ink to add dimension to the sand. Now I questioned myself on what was needed to finish the scene. I knew it could use a bright color and a ‘yellow submarine ‘ came to mind. I picked out my sentiment next and embossed it in white on a black banner. Instead of fish I decided on some stingrays to complete the scene. I added some acrylic bubbles and the card was completed.

I would suggest you use this Kat Scrappiness Die and create your own under the sea card. Enjoy your trip under the sea.

    Word Search Love

    Greetings Friends and Crafters,

Clean and simple is on the menu for today’s card. Kat Scrappiness has many wonderful dies that allow us to create beautiful cards with little effort.  The embellishments that are available at Kat Scrappiness work so well with the dies to add a bit a pazazz to the creations.

Simply cut a layer one in white and a card base in black. Using the Kat Scrappiness Valentine Word Search die cut the design out of the white.

Die cut the love word out of a scrap of red and glue into the white card layer.

Add a few Kat Scrappiness Red Heart Sprinkles to the card. Next emboss a small sentiment onto a strip of black and attach to the design. We are done! How simple and easy.

Howly Christmas to you by Jo Herbert

Hi All, Welcome to today’s blog post where Gold Glitter the whole Peacock background die for this sweet card. The peacock background is already stunning on its own but with the added WOW! Embossing Powder Gold Glitter Sparkle I felt it added that Christmas feel to the card even more.

I have directly pressed my embossing ink on the already die cut background to get good coverage of ink all over it. Then I poured the embossing glitter all over it repeatedly until all the background die is covered which I then heat set it.

The stampset I have chosen for today’s card creation is the Gerda Steiner Christmas Puppies. It has the cutest images in this set and it has been fun copic colouring them in.

I have kept the card super simple as I found the glitter was already adding the extra shine that I needed. I added a scalloped circle die cut then the cut out copic coloured image foam mounted on top. I added a heat embossed sentiment to the side of the image and that is my card.

I have created a process video of today’s card creation.

  • Peacock cover die feature by Jo Herbert

Peacock cover die feature by Jo Herbert

Hi all, Jo here welcome to a cardset creation using the latest Peacock cover die just released this month.  I have done something a little different where I have I used the cover die as a card base front. To achieve this cardbase I played around with my “bigshot sandwich” .

When running through the cutting mat in the big shot make sure you place your cutting mat so it is not covering the whole die. This technique is called “partial die cutting”.  See below the picture where I have shown where I have placed my cutting mat.

I have also heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powder Bright White Opaque & Metallic Rich Gold embossing powders on the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Heart Dies the sentiments.  The stampset I have chosen for this cardset is the Neat & Tangled Love Notes where I have heat embossed with the add-on sentiments as well.

On the hearts I have ink blended with a heavy hand on the outer edge of the hearts working with a lighter hand towards the centre for a more gradient look.

On one of the cards I have heat embossed the outer edges of the scalloped hearts to add a faux layer to the die cut.

To finish the card off I have stuck the heart die cut has been foam mount directly on the card front.

This card set is quick and easy and can be made in bulk.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card set. To see this card made I have created a Youtube of the card making process.

  • Witches Skirt Treat Bag and Card with Stephanie

Witches Skirt Treat Bag and Card with Stephanie

Hi There!  Stephanie here with two really fun Halloween projects featuring the most adorable Witches Skirt Die by Cheery Lynn Designs.

    img_9802

Today I’ll be walking you through how I made the bag topper.  The card I made also uses the same techniques and supplies as the topper, with the exception of the diagonal striped background, which is embossed with Glow in the Dark Embossing Powder by WOW.  Wow is right!  It really glows in the dark!

The colors I’m using on today’s projects were inspired by this Sea Coral Glitter Sequin Mix.  While it’s not normally a Halloween mix I thought it still worked well with the holiday.  Plus I’m so in love with these glitter sequins right now I couldn’t resist!

Bag toppers are the perfect way to dress up a Halloween treat, and this one is very easy to make.  I first started by cutting the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies from Kat’s collection.  The shorter side of the rectangle is the perfect width to fit a standard sized cello treat bag.

I folded the rectangle in half and used the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Border Die to cut through both layers, creating a decorative edge along the bottom.

Next, I cut two of the witches skirts using black cardstock.  I used one for the front, and the other to finish off the back.  Before adhering them together I sandwiched some double sided adhesive between the two layers to give the inlaid stripes on the stockings something to stick to.

Next, I used the Witches Skirt Die to cut some orange glitter cardstock.  I trimmed away the skirt and buckle pieces and adhered them to the front of my main piece.  The way this die is designed makes it easy to know right where to clip those pieces apart.

I added those glitter pieces to my project, attached the witch to my scalloped topper, and finished it off by adding some bakers twine, along with the word dies that came with the set.  I filled the bag with candy and my project was complete.  What a fun treat to give to your special little goblins on Halloween.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project showcasing the Witches Skirt Die by Cheery Lynn Designs.  Happy Halloween!
