  • You Are My Happy by Maria Russell

You Are My Happy by Maria Russell

Hello my crafty friends!  I’m super excited to share my first post for January 2019 and it is the January release by Kat Scrappiness.   Have you seen all the projects made by the team?  They are awesome and I am so proud to be on the same design team as these girls.  For Day 1, we are showcasing the Lacy Layered Heart dies and the Stitched Sentiment Strip dies.  They go perfectly well together or on their own.

For my first card, I inked up some Bristol smooth white card stock with my distress oxide inks and die-cut the piece with the outer layer of the die.  I also die-cut some Lawn Fawn glittered card stock using the lacy heart die.  I adhered this piece onto my colored heart with some Nuvo liquid glue.

On another piece of some heavy-duty card stock, I used the Fancy Floral Coverplate die with an embossing mat to dry-emboss the details on the card stock.  I think this turned out so beautifully.  I love the impression it makes on the card stock.

    img_0433

I adhered the heart on this embossed piece with some foam tape.  I also adhered this piece onto an A2 size card base.  Here’s what it looks like:

    katscraplacyheart1a

I stamped my sentiment on some black card stock with versamark ink and heat and sprinkled some white embossing powder.  I used my Wagner heating tool to heat-emboss the sentiment, and cut this piece using the new Stitched Strip Sentiment dies.  I finished the design by adding some Sparkling clear jewels.  Here’s a closer look:

I love how this card turned out!  I know this is a simple card but that glitter heart in the middle compliments the colored background.  Here’s another look:

For my second project, I used the Everyday Brush Strokes stamp set and stamped the image with Ballet Slippers and Pizza Crust inks by Lawn Fawn.  I used the Stitched Sentiment Strip die to die cut the middle piece.   I used foam adhesive to adhered my foreground on an A2 size card base.  I stamped the sentiment on the strips and adhered the pieces using Nuvo liquid glue.

To finish my design, I added the Silver Scissor Sequins mix.   Since this is going to a crafty friend, I know she will appreciate those cute little touches that I added on this card.  Here’s a closer look:

I added some Nuvo glitter drops on the heart to give it some dimension and shine.  I also love how this card turned out.

  • Dropping by to say “HI”

    Dropping by to say “HI”

Hi there! Hannah here! 😀 I have a SUPER bright card for you today!

This card came about primarily because I wanted to use For You, Deer Stamp and Die set by Lawn Fawn. It came out just prior to Christmas and I didn’t want it to become one of those “one use” stamp sets that got used once and never gets used again. Also, Lawn Fawn has a similar set coming out and I really can’t wait to play with it, so this was partially me just messing with ideas that may or may not potentially work.

The stamp set works PERFECTLY with the letters “H” and “I” in the Kat Scrappiness Large Alphabet Dies, with the partial sentiment of “Dropping By To Say.” All I needed to do was figure out how I was going to combine the two aspects. I decided that it would be super cute of one of the characters from the stamp set was hanging out in the letter “H.” The deer fit better than the bear, in my opinion, so I colored him in and adhered him to the letter “H” that I had cut out of some fun patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs that I had floating around my craft room.

From that pad of paper, I selected two other sheets that I was going to use, the pink flower background was obvious that I was going to use as a background for the card. I wanted my little deer to feel as if he was frolicking in the flowers! I dusted the outside edges with some Distress Oxide so that any paper showing along the outside edge would look like it was receding.

After die cutting an opening in the other piece of patterned paper using the NEW Distressed Edge Oval Dies I trimmed the panel down with the Stitched Rope Nested Rectangle Dies, also by Kat Scrappiness. The edges of this paper I also ran some Distress Oxide around as well, and because this paper was so bright, I ran some around the front, just to tone it down. Because I love dimension, I cut a piece of fun foam down to be just slightly smaller than this top piece of paper, I also die cut fun foam letters “H” and “I” too.

Using more Distress Oxide, and some clear embossing powder, I embossed the sentiment “Dropping By To Say” in the corner of this panel. Then it was a matter of piecing everything together with my favorite adhesives and decorating with some sequins. For this I loved the Grandma’s Garden sequin pack from Kat Scrappiness, there are little tiny flowers in it, which I could insert some gems from the pack onto the inside. PERFECTION!

Sometimes you just need a fun card to send to a friend, and I hope that this card fits the bill. If I have inspired you, please let me know! • I Lava You, Valentine!

    I Lava You, Valentine!

Hannah here! How are you this lovely February day? Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I am SO excited! I don’t know why I love this “holiday” so much, we hardly celebrate it at our house, I think it has to do with my love of hearts. 😉

I recently came back from Creativation where I had the opportunity to play with alcohol inks for the first time ever. We were using them for a much different purpose than they are generally used for, however, it did inspire me to purchase a bunch and start playing with them. This really was the basis for my card, I wanted to play with alcohol inks. 😉

So, play I did! I gathered 3 inks in “lava” colors, and some Yupo paper, and went to town having fun!

While that was drying I stamped out my image from Avery Elle, the Lava You set, using Memento Tuxedo Black. Then using the filler stamps from the set I stamped those in with other Distress Inks. I then die cut this image out using the coordinating Lava You die set and colored the ocean water with Copic Markers.

Because I was making a shaker card, when don’t I made a shaker card, I needed a frame, so I created a lovely blend of Distress Inks on a piece of paper using Clarity Stencil Brushes. Next, I die cut my frame out using two of the Distress Edge Rectangle Dies by Kat Scrappiness.

I built my shaker window to this frame with the help of some fun foam, some acetate, and score tape. I adhered my volcano onto the front and added a bit more fun foam behind the volcano for stability, and used score tape to adhere this to my Yupo paper while sneaking in a TON of sequins in there. Like A TON!

I didn’t care for the Yupo Paper that extended past my frame, so I trimmed it down and adhered that to some red paper which I had run some Delicata Golden Glitz along the edge of.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the inside of my card using some Distress Oxide.

I hope I have inspired you, and I hope you’ll find the products you need to create at Kat Scrappiness! If you need a discount code to save a little money, please feel free to use Hannah10 at checkout!

Thank you for following along, again this is Hannah Rubenstahl of Fanciful Spaces, for a list of the products I used please see below:

  • Happy Heart Day!

    Hi Everyone!

Today I have a card featuring the versatile Large Alphabet Dies by Kat Scrappiness.

The letters make such a nice focal point, I wanted to attach a few together to make an almost chipboard-like embellishment.  I first adhered black “fun foam” to the backs of 2 Xs and 2 Os using liquid adhesive.  This not only gives more thickness, but also gives a nice shadow effect.  You could use other colors as well and those would look great too!

I then clustered the Xs and Os together so they fit nicely, adhering them with flat glue dots.  This bold embellishment would be really great on a scrapbook page too!

I’ve been in love with Lawn Fawn’s new How You Bean?-Conversation Hearts Add-On stamp set.  The little hearts are so fun to color with Copics!  This time, I went with bright colors to offset the black and white of the letters.

After laying out my design, I wanted to stamp a few of the open hearts and a sentiment directly on my card.  I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform to be sure I got everything straight and close enough together.  For a graphic card like this, being precise is very important for the look.

Copics tend to show through cardstock if you color directly on it, so my remedy for that is cute patterned paper.  I took a strip of paper from Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid Rainbow Petit Paper Pack and added it to the inside of the card where the Copics ran through.  The paper coordinates with the front of the card and adds a cute detail to the inside.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you’ll try this clustering technique with your letter dies.  It’s a fun way to make a bold statement on the front of your card.  All the supplies from the Kat Scrappiness shop are linked below.  Be sure to use my coupon code Heidi10 to receive 10% off your purchase.

  • Large Alpha Dies with Lawn Fawn Sweet Friends by Maria

Large Alpha Dies with Lawn Fawn Sweet Friends by Maria

Hello my crafty friends.  I am back today to share with you a simple Valentine’s Day card, showcasing the new Large Alphabet dies and Christmas Red Sequins by Kat Scrappiness,   Lawn Fawn Sweet Friends stamp set and Lawn Fawn Sweet Friends coordinating dies, plus other supplies available at the shop.

I started out by stamping my images on Neenah Solar white card stock and I colored the images in with my Copic markers.   I cut another 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Bristol Smooth white card stock and used my Tumbling Hearts stencil to create my background, with my Worn Lipstick distress oxide ink and the ink blending tool.

    IMG_7065

I wanted to create a Valentine’s Day shaker card and also use the new Large Alphabet Dies.  I chose the letters, X and O and used my die-cutting machine to cut my background.  I covered it with my acetate and used my foam tape to create my shaker window.  I have been meaning to use the Christmas Red sequins and thought that this was the perfect color to use as my shaker element.

    IMG_7064

To finish my design, I added my little Froyo images and stamped my sentiment.  I also added the little strawberries to the Froyo and covered it with glossy accents.  Here is the card:

Isn’t this adorable?  I hope you like my card today and got inspired.  Please visit www.katscrappiness.com for inexpensive dies and craft supplies.  Don’t forget to use my coupon code “MARIA10” for 10% off your order at the shop.  The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Have an amazing day!
