  • Crafter’s Essentials 2 Inspiration

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness die sets for the July release. The new Crafter’s Essentials 2 die set is so fun and versatile. The design team has already shared a lot of great cards with these dies so be sure to check them out in the store.

When I got the Crafter’s Essentials 2 die set I knew the background die would be a favorite for me and I got right to work making some cards with it. I knew instantly that I wanted to make a rainbow chevron pattern down the side of one and decided to combine it with all those fun little faces from the Punny Snacks stamp set.  I have a full video tutorial for two of the cards that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLdDHXI10HU]

I found that the sunburst image in the set was perfect for using up some scraps of Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring that I had left over and combined it with an image from Lawn Fawn’s Easter Party I had colored months ago for some Easter cards I shared. As mentioned in the video, if you need a piece of cardstock for layering, like the pink piece on the second card, you can make it with your inks. Finally I have one last inspiration card combining Crafter’s Essentials 2 with Lawn Fawn DuhNuh.

  • Ocean Shaker Card featuring Crafter’s Essentials 1 and Heffy Doodle

Ocean Shaker Card featuring Crafter’s Essentials 1 and Heffy Doodle

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness die sets for the July release. The new Crafter’s Essentials 1 die set is so fun and versatile. Just wait until you see all the beautiful cards the design team has in store for you. I combined them with the Heffy Doodle Oceans of Love because Heffy Doodle is new to the Kat Scrappiness store.

The inspiration for this card was creating an aquarium shaker card. The large three paneled die worked perfect for this visual. I wanted to add some fun color so I picked my sequins first and let that guide my other color choices. I went with the Mint Sparkles mix from Kat Scrappiness and then used Distress Oxide Inks to create my colored papers. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

At first I thought I would color my narwhal in true colors, but then considering the sentiment I decided to have a bit of fun and make the narwhal pink and the other animals true colors so it would really pop. I also made sure the narwhal was adhered directed to the front so the sequins would shake behind it and not distract from the star of the card.

  • Rainbow Preview of the June Stitched Scalloped Dies

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness die sets for the June release. These new Stitched Scalloped Shapes are so fun and versatile. Just wait until you see all the beautiful cards the design team has in store for you. I combined them with the Punny Snacks stamp set because it’s one of my favorite sets from Kat.

The inspiration for this card was seeing the dies stacked up as I made my design team haul video this month. I wanted to show what the dies looked like cut but loved the look so much I wanted to do it in rainbow. The Stitched Scalloped Rectangles are perfect for this. I cut all the different layers from a rainbow array of cardstock. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blpXgJgL0bw]

After I had my layers cut I realized the red layer would be too small and decided to find another way to incorporate red to complete the rainbow. This is where the Punny Snacks set comes in. I thought the ketchup bottle would be great but knew I was more likely to use a thank you so I decided to color up a soda cup red and use the “You’re too sweet” sentiment.

  • Distress Oxide Stamping with April NEW Release!

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness stamp sets and diecuts for the April release. I love a beautiful scripty word diecut and Kat has nailed it with this Hello Crafty Friend Die. My favorite thing is that the words are separate so you can use just the hello, the hello friend, or the whole sentiment.

The inspiration for this card was the shape of the stamps in the Swatches stamp set. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoRGP2sM7LU]

I started by stamping the shapes on some plain white paper using Distress Oxide inks because the dye and pigment blend leads to better stamping results with solid stamping.

Then I die cut out the patterned paper I had made with the Wonky Wavy die of the same shape. I created a Distress Oxide background with the same colors and added a bit of interest with my Distress Sprayer. In the video I only show the circle card but as you can see I also created a heart card and changed up the sentiment.

  • Soda Distress Oxide Ink Background for Punny Snacks Stamp Set

Soda Distress Oxide Ink Background for Punny Snacks Stamp Set

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness stamp sets for the March release. I absolutely love this Punny Snacks stamp set and know it will be used over and over. My favorite thing is that the sentiments work for a variety of occasions and are not all love based as I have seen in the past.

The inspiration for this card was trying to create a background that evoked the snack from the set. I decided to try to create the look of soda with Distress Oxide ink. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFcQd19aCP8]

I started by stamping the soda cups in a row with the sentiment underneath. Then I masked off that area to make my ‘soda’ background. I covered the area with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo, dried it and then sprayed the background. I like the look of spraying and then dabbing to remove more color. I think you would be great results with traditional Distress Inks as well. I will be sharing another Punny Snacks card on my personal channel soon and I can’t get enough of this set!

  • Conversation Heart Card featuring Large Alphabet Dies

Conversation Heart Card featuring Large Alphabet Dies

Conversation Heart Card by Jess Gerstner featuring Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to be sharing a valentine project for Kat Scrappiness. For today’s cards I will be using two Kat Scrappiness dies including the new fabulous Large Alphabets.

Conversation Heart Card by Jess Gerstner featuring Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts

The inspiration for this card was trying to incorporate the large letters into a card project. I have a full video tutorial for you today that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkVNPI3pQr8]

I started by creating a heart card base using the Wonky Wavy Stitched Hearts and then I decided on some short phrases that I could cut with the Large Alphabet dies. I used the Lawn Fawn Conversation Hearts Add-on set as some inspiration and the Lawn Fawn Pink Flamingo ink to match the pink letters I diecut. I decided to use pink letters to match the classic look of conversation heart candy.

I think personalizing the card with the initials of someone you love would be another great way to use the Alphabet dies.
