    Hooray!

2020 is just about over — HOORAY!!  It’s been one for the record books without a doubt!  My card is to celebrate a ‘farewell to 2020’ and hopes for a much better 2021!

For my card, I first cut black, gold glitter and silver glitter cardstock with the Cityscape Slimline dies and layered them onto navy cardstock.  To create the shaker, I cut navy cardstock with one of the Tri-Frame Slimline Dies and adhered a sheet of Slimline Acetate to the back.  Then, using double-sided adhesive foam, I lined the frame.  For the filler, I used Celebrate Silver Sequin Mix and Light Gold Stars Sequins and enclosed the shaker frame with the Cityscape piece.   For the card base, I cut shiny silver cardstock with one of the Slimline Never Ending Nesting Dies and adhered the slimline shaker to the base.  To finish, I cut vellum and silver glitter cardstock with the Hooray w/Shadow dies.

Wishing you and yours a blessed, hope-filled and loving New Year!

    Did Somebody Say Cake?

Hello hello hello, it’s Lisa from Oh So Cute By Lisa and I am so excited because I am up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today with a really fun card I made for my daughter’s friend’s birthday. I love to take out a bunch of different Kat Scrappiness dies and use them in new and creative ways.  Today I decided to make my own stencils with the Nested Layering Heart Dies. I needed to have a heart shaped stencil to do some ink blending in and I didn’t have anything like that.
I started by taking the 3 smallest dies in the Nested Layering Heart Dies and cut them out of some 6×6 stencil sheets. I just love blank stencil sheets because you can create any stencil you want with dies that you already own. How’s that for getting double duty out of your supplies!
I just love using my Distress Oxide Inks to do ink blending and I thought it would look really neat to do some ink blending over an embossed background.
I took a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and stamped a scripty text background stamp in Versamark embossing ink and sprinkled white embossing powder over the panel. I then heated it until the powder was smooth and melted.
Next it was time to put my stencil to work. I placed my handmade heart stencil all over the panel in different positions even overlapping in certain spots and used 2 different color inks on each heart to get some beautiful blends. I had so much fun making a random pattern using my favorite colors.  I was sort of going for a rainbow effect as much as possible. I just love the look of the text being highlighted over the heart shapes.
I’ll be honest, the ink blending looked way better than I thought it would. I was very happy with how it turned out! Once I liked the layout of the hearts, I used the largest die in the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies to cut out the panel and give it a finished edge. I used a bright piece of pink card stock to matte the panel on so it would really stand out.
For the sentiment I wanted a bold black die cut for the front and the Hooray w/ Shadow die was the perfect choice. I used a piece of vellum paper to back the black die cut and it looked great against the bright rainbow colors. The two smaller sentiment strips matched so well with white embossing on black paper!
And last but not least, what card would be complete without some Sparkling Clear Droplets?
I love how they let the color show through behind them!
I love how this card turned out and I love how with a little creativity and imagination you can create anything you want. You just have to think outside the box sometimes!
Here’s another picture with all of the fun Kat Scrappiness products I used on my card:

  • Hip Hip Hooray

    Hip Hip Hooray

Hi everyone, happy Hump Day!  I have a fun, clean and simple card for you today.

I used several Kat Scrappiness dies  and a couple of sequin/jewel sets to create this card.  I die cut “hip” twice using the Condensed Lowercase Alphabet dies from light turquoise card stock.  Hooray is from one of the dies released this month – Hooray with Shadow die. I cut this out of a little bit darker turquoise card stock.  My yellow star background panel was die cut using the Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle dies.

I added my letters and words to the star panel using foam adhesive and adhered the panel to a white card base.  To finish the card, I added a few clear sequins and teal jewels.

I love the way this card turned out.  I can use this card as a birthday or celebration card.  Thanks for stopping by!

  • Use Your Words

    Use Your Words

You don’t always need to say a lot to get your point across.  Sometimes little words said with love and sincerity can mean so much!  Today I’m sharing a few cards featuring three new Kat Scrappiness word dies that are simple, but say so much!

My first card features the Thank You with Shadow Die.  I first layered kraft cardstock to the base.  I adhered two pieces of pattern paper together and using the shadow die, cut an opening in the center.  I adhered a piece of acetate on the back over the opening, then used  Scrapbook Adhesive Foam Strips to outline the shape of the shadow die.  Kat Scrappiness has SO many fun sprinkles and I selected Rainbow Bright, Yellow Candy, Orange Confetti and Dark Brown Teddy Bear Sprinkles for my shaker elements.  After removing the tape from the foam adhesive strips, I then adhered another piece of kraft cardstock to encase the sprinkles. I used Scrapbook Adhesive Crafty Foam to pop up the entire card front layer before adhering it to the card base.

I then cut orange cardstock with the Thank You word dies and adhered to the acetate.  To finish, I added this sweet image from the Koala-ty Time stamp set.

This birthday card was super easy to put together!  After layering cardstock and pattern paper to the card base for the background, I used the Hooray with Shadow Die to cut green and pink cardstock.  The shaker star was created using one of the shapes in the Splat Star Shaker kit which I first colored with alcohol ink before putting the kit together.  How perfect are these Candy Explosion Sprinkles for the shaker elements?!  The card is a party all on it’s own 🙂

And last, but certainly not least….

My last card features…can you guess?…yep, it’s the new You Rock with Shadow die!  I love these Star Bright Sprinkles which gave my card just the right star-studded touch.  This word die is perfect to for creating cards that encourage, congratulate or thank someone!

  • Hooray Times Two

    Hooray Times Two

Hello it’s Lisa from Oh So Cute By Lisa! Today on the Kat Scrappiness blog I have two very different cards using the same die.

I love how versatile the Kat Scrappiness Hooray with Shadow Die is! It is large enough to stand alone on a card and be the main focal point. All you need is an interesting background and your card practically makes itself. I made 2 very different cards today with the Hooray die. One has lots of ink blending and stenciling in the background while the other is more of a clean and simple type of card.

For my first card today I used assorted Distress Oxide Inks in

rainbow colors to get a polka dot ink blended background.

The first step was to take a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and do some ink blending with these Distress Ink colors in this order using an ink blending tool and foam applicators:

    Squeezed Lemonade

    Cracked Pistachio

    Blueprint Sketch

    Wilted Violet

    Picked Raspberry

    Carved Pumpkin

I applied these colors to my cardstock with a fairly light hand and then I applied a

polka dot stencil to the same panel and went back over the panel with the same colors but using a slightly heavier hand to get the large polka dot stenciled look. I just love how it came out!

Next I used the largest die from the Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut a rectangle out from the ink blended panel.  I then took the Kat Scrappiness Hooray with Shadow Die and cut the shadow layer out in black and the actual word layer out in white.  The layers are so easy to put together because the shadow layer is the perfect matte for the word. I added in an extra sentiment under Hooray to make this a birthday card and then I decorated with my favorite embellishment from Kat Scrappiness,  Sparkling Clear Droplets!

I matted the card on a black panel to really make the rainbow colors pop and my card was done.

Here is a look at the card with all the supplies pictured.

For my next card I went a little more CAS but still using the

Kat Scrappiness Hooray with Shadow Die.

I also did some ink blending with Distress Inks on this card but only for the word Hooray.

Once again I did a little ink blending with these 3 colors in this order using an ink blending tool and foam applicators:

    Fossilized Amber

    Picked Raspberry

    Candied Apple

Once I had the blend the way I wanted I cut the word Hooray out of the panel.  I just love how those 3 colors blend together to give a warm tropical look! I cut the word Hooray out 4 more times, twice in white and 2 more times in a coral color.  I used the white words to give a tone on tone look by adhering them directly to the white card base and the 2 coral words I used to build up the ink blended Hooray die cut.  Once I applied the two white Hooray cuts to the top and bottom of the card I did some ink splattering in gold using the Kuretake watercolor paint in gold to add some interest to the background of the card. Once the ink splattering was done I added the ink blended Hooray to the center of the card and finished off the card with some gold sequins

Here is a look at the card with all the supplies pictured.

Although I don’t often make CAS cards, I like how this one came out!

Thanks so much for joining me today! Head over to Kat Scrappiness to check out all of the amazing sentiment dies with shadows!
