“I’m Here for You” Elegant Fall Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. Today I am sharing a fall-themed card using the new Kat Scrappiness “Fall Frame Craft Dies” to create a clean and simple backdrop for a bouquet of dried flowers tied together with hemp string and gold thread.

Along with the new Fall Frame Craft Dies, I used Kat‘s Stitched Foliage Craft Dies and real dried flowers to create the bouquet. Kat‘s new “I’m here for you” sentiment die and her Gold Pearl Mix provided an elegant finishing touch.

    Card Details:

    • Added the dried flowers to create a bouquet.

    • Tied the bouquet together with hemp sting and gold thread and adhered it to the center of the card.
    • Created the sentiment using the new “I’m Here for You” shadow sentiment craft die with white and green cardstock and adhered to the bottom right corner of the card.

  • Clean and Simple Calming Cards

    Clean and Simple Calming Cards

Welcome to the Kat Scrappiness blog, take a deep breath and relax!

It’s Lisa here with you today from Oh So Cute By Lisa!

2020 has been a stressful year and the past few days of this crazy election hasn’t made it any easier.  No matter which side of the political fence you are on, the stress is running high!
The ugliness in the world only seems to be getting worse and it is so scary!

As card makers we tend to craft away the stress and it can be very calming to immerse yourself in making art and pretty things! Today is my day on the Kat Scrappiness blog and I knew I wanted a pair of clean and simple cards to deliver a calming message. It felt so good to sit at my desk and use minimal supplies and some of my prettiest pattern paper to make 2 cards to share today.

I don’t know who needs to hear this today but keep taking deep breaths and surround yourself with people who bring you peace! My 2 cards today are centered on the words PEACE and BREATHE.

I created these 2 cards using minimal supplies but I think they came out so pretty!

I started by taking some of my favorite floral patterned paper from my stash.  I’ve had this paper forever and it is my go to when I want some pretty dainty florals. I cut out all the letters for both cards using the Condensed Lowercase Alphabet Dies  by Kat Scrappiness and put them aside. Next I took some beautiful linen paper and cut out 2 panels using the largest die from the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die set.

I wanted to place the letters down evenly so I used my Wendy Vecchi MAKE ART Stay-tion to line them up. I laid out my letters evenly and placed a thin piece of purple tape over them that extended beyond the letters. I took the strip of letters still on the tape and flipped them over to apply my Nuvo adhesive to the back side of the letters. Having them on the tape made it easier to lay them down on the card panel. Once I laid them down I carefully peeled off the purple tape and pressed the letters down one by one allowing the glue to seep in.

After I adhered both panels to a soft pink piece of card stock the only thing left to do was add some sparkly Pretty Pink Jewels around the letters.

When I apply my jewels and embellishments I like to use the Kat Scrappiness Jewel Picker tool and a Triangle Sorting Tray. It makes the application and clean up so much easier. I pour my embellishments into a sorting tray and pick them up with the jewel picker and place them on a small dot of glue on my card. The process is super easy and very efficient.  After I’m done the triangle tray makes it so easy to pour the jewels back into their bag.

There is even a Kat Scrappiness Mini Pink Funnel Tray to keep your embellishments confined and make it easy for you to funnel them back into whatever is holding them.

Kat has also just released a brand new item that is a MUST HAVE for anyone with multiple packs of sequins and embellishments. It is called the Embellishment Organizer Solution and it is FABULOUS! This awesome case has 64 individual containers to hold all of your beads, sequins, jewels and other such embellishments. It also comes with 196 label stickers so you can remember the names of all of your pretty embellishments.

Here is one more look at my cards with all of the products I used.
You really don’t need a lot of supplies to make beautiful cards!

Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope I brought a little PEACE into your life and encouraged you to BREATHE deeply and go make some pretty art!

    Spooky Cat

    Hello Crafters,

Halloween will be here before we know it.  I am sure everyone will want to send out cards to their special people in their life. Today’s card is quick and fun to create.

I started with a traditional black cat. This cat is a three layered stamp from the Kat Scrappiness Stamp set called Toil & Trouble Stamp and die. Using three shades of gray I stamped the cat. Used green to stamp the eyes then die cut it out.

To create the background I used a Kat Scrappiness A-2 piece of acetate as my palette. On this acetate I dabbed Tim Holtz Distressed   oxide in mowed lawn, peeled paint and forest moss. Then water is spritzed onto the ink. The layer one piece of water color paper is then pressed onto the inks. Dabbing the ink onto the paper to create the background. This is done to the liking of the creator of the card.

Using Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Circle dies cut out a circle/ring for the cat to be framed. Stamp the sentiment from the Toil & Trouble  Stamp set in black. Adhere the circle over the inked background and center the cat in it. Add a few sequins from the Kat Scrappiness Black Tie sequin mix and the card is complete.

Cards can be simple and still be beautiful.

  • Orange Slice Sprinkles

    Orange Slice Sprinkles

Hello Friends, today we are making a cheery hello card good for many occasions. One of the biggest advantages of this type of card is it helps us use up all those bits and pieces we hang onto but never know what to do with them.

First you will need to cut three layers of card stock using white as the base, orange as the thin accent, and an additional white to glue the scraps together to form the stripped section. All three layers are the same length but not the same width. I left 1 inch of white, 1/8 inch of orange and the rest of the space for the stripes.

Now cut orange, green, and yellow  pieces in various widths and shades of colors.

Glue the colored strips onto the small white piece in the order of your choosing. Glue this layer onto the orange layer leaving 1/8 inch showing.

Attach the stripes to the white layer making sure it is right justified. Die cut four hellos, one in each color, using the KS hello brush script word and sentiment die.

Glue the four die cuts together allowing a small amount of each color to show along the right side of the sentiment.

Attach the sentiment onto the stripped area of the card. Glue KS orange slice sprinkles in the white section. Now using black ink splat ink droplets to the card layer. Finally, adhere the layer to a white card base.

    supplies used:

    KS orange slice sprinkles

KS Hello brush script word and sentiment die

  • Crafting Happiness

    Crafting Happiness

For those of us who craft, the statement on this card rings true.  The happy calm we feel when stepping into our craft space is like no other!  Even if it’s just for fifteen minutes or so :).  Today’s project uses the recently released Crafters Essentials 2 die set along with Echo Park’s Eat. Sleep. Craft. stamp set.

The big background panel in the set is perfect for the graphic style sentiment stamps.  I arranged a couple of the sentiments utilizing the chevron arrows to create the movement of “eat, sleep, craft, repeat”.  I really like the sunburst die included in the set.  It’s perfect for cute little focal points like the sewing machine.  Notice the design “triangle” I made with the stamps and the sunburst.  This is a design principle I love using for CAS cards.

I stamped, colored and cut out the little sewing machine adding a little Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen for fun.  I actually have a fun, flowered sewing machine in my craft area that I need to use more.  Threading that bobbin just throws me off every time, LOL!  Someday…….:).

I adhered the sewing machine to the sunburst with some foam tape and the entire panel was adhered to a lavender notecard with more foam tape.

Here’s another card I made with the die set using the big fish tail banner.  I love how wide the banner is.  Perfect for block-style sentiments.  This sentiment is from the same Echo Park set I used in the previous card.  I die cut 2 banners in Crafter’s Companion Silver Spotlight Shimmering Cardstock to back the main banner.  A few drops of Liquid Mercury Nuvo Crystal Drops highlight the sentiment.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  Be sure to head over to the Kat Scrappiness shop and feel free to use my coupon code: Heidi10 to receive 10% off your purchase.

Clean and Simple Cards with Punny Snacks by Maria

Last week, I talked to a crafty friend and she told me that she was so sad because the card she gave to a co-worker was thrown out.  She said that she has put so much work and effort on making the card and she was expecting the co-worker to appreciate it and at least keep it!  I know how she feels!  This is the reason why sometimes, you just need to work on clean and simple cards to give out to other people.  I only really give my “special cards”  to friends and family who I know will appreciate them a lot.

For todays card, I am showcasing the Punny Snacks stamp set, with Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle Dies and a bunch of other supplies available at the shop.

The Punny Snacks stamp set is perfect to create some clean and simple cards.  Don’t get me wrong, I also used this stamp set to make some very elaborate (special) cards but these images are so cute and simple and you can even create just a one-layer card.  It’s good to have a bunch of these cards in your stash for “just-because” kind of days.

I have a process video for you below.  I hope this inspired you to create some clean and simple cards!   I also listed and linked the supplies I used below.  Have a wonderful day!
