Hello, crafters! I’m back today with a brand new card using the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Circle Dies and Lawn Fawn’s “One In A Chameleon” Stamp Set and matching Lawn Cuts Dies. These fabulous new circle dies are absolutely a must have in your collection, and with seven different sizes to choose from, you won’t have any trouble finding just the right size for your projects. The bright colors and graphic designs make this card pop, but it’s really quite simple to recreate. Let’s get started!
The first thing I did was choose two of the scalloped circle dies and cut them out in black and white card stock. I found a plain circle die that was just a bit smaller and cut a blue piece to act as my “sky” background. A softer blue could also be used here, but I just loved that rich aqua. I then attached them all together, centering each layer carefully. I chose not to add any dimension between these layers because I will be popping up the entire focal piece later on.
These adorable images are super quick and easy to color, and I chose to keep things bright and vivid with some Copic alcohol marker coloring. I shaded my little branch with two lighter browns, then flicked some “bark” onto it with a deeper chocolate color. The little leaves are stamped with green ink – any shade that you have on hand will do. I stamped and hand-cut the tiny heart as well, but you will see that I didn’t end up using it in my final design.
As I was trying to figure out where to put my one little stamped heart, I luckily remembered that I had a bag of these adorable heart confetti shapes from Kat’s shop! The pretty red is just perfect, and I had two sizes to choose from. They were easily attached with tiny dabs of the Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive. Aren’t they just so cute?
This gorgeous green (lime green? green apple?) is my very favorite color in the world, so I knew I had to use it with my cute chameleon. The graphic pattern speaks for itself, so I just used a strip of it, adding three wraps of baker’s twine and a narrow strip of black card stock to balance the colors. This is a favorite layout of mine, so you will definitely be seeing it again in the future 🙂
I used some of my 3M foam tape to add a little dimension to my focal circle. I wanted lots of stability, but I also left some open space so that my piece could “straddle” the baker’s twine beneath it. Believe it or not, those few strands could really make your circle bumpy if you’re not careful!
As my sentiment, I naturally used the perfect one that comes in the stamp set. I opted for clean lines again, so I stamped it on black card stock and trimmed it neatly into a rectangle. The white heat embossing really makes the words pop, but you could use maybe another color from the design if you have it in your stash. I also popped this piece up with some of the same foam tape so that it didn’t get lost in the background.
And that is my card completed! This one was so much fun to make because I love Lawn Fawn and I love coloring stamped images. This simple layout is something I encourage you to try, because you can easily adapt it to any type of card you’d like to make.
