    Missing You Card by Maria

It feels like it’s been ages ago since I last posted on this blog (or maybe it’s the jet lag talking) but Maria here with you today to share this very simple shaker card, showcasing the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die with the Missing You Brush Script Word & Sentiment die, the Fab Flowers 4×6 Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn and the Fab Flowers Dies with some Pretty Pink Jewels and Hearts of White Sequin mix.

I stamped my images with some Lawn Fawn inks using my Tim Holtz stamping platform.  I die-cut the images with its coordinating dies.

I die-cut another piece of some Neenah 110 lb. card stock using the new Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die.   This die cuts like butter and is perfect for shaker cards!

I adhered my acetate onto the die-cut and added foam adhesive to create the well for my shaker card.  I poured the Hearts of White Sequin Mix on my card base and positioned it to make it easier for me to adhere my shaker well on top of the card base.

I also die-cut the “Missing You” Brush Script Word and Sentiment die twice on some black and white card stock.  Since the card has mostly white on it, I wanted to create a shadow behind the Missing You script die so that it stands out, without overwhelming the design of the card.  I adhered this piece on top of the acetate.  Here’s what the card looks like:

I just love this card design.  I think all the elements I used for this card just complimented each other.  Here’s a little close-up:

The new Hearts of White Sequin Mix is so beautiful, I cannot wait to order more from the shop.  Also, don’t you just love the stitching details on the die-cut?  I am in-love with this design.

I hope you like my shaker card today.  The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “MARIA10” for 10% off your order at the shop.  While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the sales and specials going on.  I hope you have a wonderful day and happy crafting!

    “Happiness Is Handmade” Card

Good morning, crafters!  Cynthia here with another blog post featuring some brand new items from Kat Scrappiness.  Today’s card was made with the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die, the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set, and some White Jewels.  So let’s roll up our sleeves and get started.

The first step was to create a background using the stamp set.  I used a piece of smooth white card stock and stamped with my Memento Black ink.  I knew I’d be coloring with my alcohol markers, and the Memento ink won’t smudge.  I stamped the scissors first, carefully repeating the image several times.  Then I brought in the pencil stamp and added more of these, since they were smaller.  I turned the stamp so that some images show the point of the pencil, and other images show the eraser.  I then stamped the marker stamp, making sure to keep the nib end in the image.  Then all I had to do was scatter the medium sequin stamp all around the main images, filling in the white spaces as evenly as I could.  By starting with the big images, filling in with the small, and keeping the angles true, you can easily create a custom background that doesn’t look jumbled or messy 🙂

Now it’s time to color!  I decided to use my Copic Sketch markers, but anything you prefer will work just as well.  I kept the colors pretty simple, using only two shades for each color, although I did use three different blues to give the sequins some dimension.  I also used a light, warm grey marker to create shadows around each image.  This doesn’t take much time, but has a big impact in bringing your images to life!  If you don’t have a grey marker, it’s also good to use a grey pencil to add the shadows.

I found a very nice green card stock in my paper supply and used it to mat my background piece.  Then I used the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die and cut out a piece of heavyweight black card stock.  I absolutely love the size of this big die, and there are tons of different ways to use it!  You can put two different papers in each triangle, turn one of the triangles into a shaker, put an image in one and a sentiment in the other, or lots of other things.  I love that the triangles are also large enough to really show off all the stamping I did – it would be a shame to cover it all up, don’t you think?

Before I attach my diagonal panel down to my project, I needed to add my sentiment.  I prefer to heat emboss when the card stock is still separate in case the heat causes some warping.  Whenever you come across a stacked sentiment stamp like this one, you can stamp it all in one line with some simple masking.  I just used a bit of washi tape to cover some of the words while I stamped the others, then reversed the process to finish the sentiment.  I used White embossing powder which really pops against that intense black card stock.

I attached the diagonal piece flat to the card front with some strong adhesive tape, centering it carefully over the green mat layer.  This card would have also looked good had I popped up the black piece with foam tape – I was probably too lazy to get up and find my roll of foam tape!  Haha!  The very last little detail I added was just three of the gorgeous White Jewels that are also new in Kat’s shop.  These jewels are amazing!  They all have a gorgeous iridescent sparkle to them, each one is perfectly faceted to reflect the light, and there are four or five different sizes in every bag.  I can’t recommend them highly enough!

And that is today’s finished card project.  I really hope that you had fun reading over this blog and that it inspired you to try out these new items for yourself.  Even as I was doing the stamping I was thinking of at least three other cards I wanted to design, using those fabulous images in different combinations.  The stamp set, the die, and the jewels (which come in six different colors) are all available now in the shop.  Follow the link below to get started, and don’t forget to use my discount code “CYNTHIA10” to receive 10% off your entire order.  Thanks for looking, and happy crafting!

    “Shine Bright” Shaker Card

Hello everybody! Design Team Member Jana stopping in today to share a quick tutorial on how I created a beautiful yet simple shaker card using some amazing newly released products from the Kat Scrappiness store.

The first step was to create my card mat which would also serve as my background scene of my shaker card. To do this, I used a piece of 110lb. Neenah Solar White cardstock and taped it down to my craft mat using some Purple Tape (as seen below) to keep it in place. Using my blending tool, I applied Twisted Citron and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks by Tim Holtz in no particular fashion to the paper. Once I was happy with the lay down of the ink, I spritzed some water over top and dabbed off the excess to achieve the look you see below. I then set it off to the side to dry.

While my inked up paper was drying, I moved on to my die cutting. I die cut a piece of textured cardstock from the ReCollections “Mermazing” Paper Pad using the newly released Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die by Kat Scrappiness.

I knew that I wanted my sentiment to be stamped across the thick diagonal portion of the die cut, so I stamped my sentiment, “Shine Bright” (from a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit that I had received awhile back) using VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink and then heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder by Hero Arts.

Once my inked up background was dried, I cut it down to measure approximately 3 6/8″ x 5″. I also cut a piece of Acetate measuring the same dimensions. I adhered the acetate to the back side of my die cut using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. Once dried, I applied some foam tape over that in order to form my shaker pockets. I adhered the inked background mat to my card base using some double sided adhesive tape.

Now for the FUN part……. I combined three different sequin mixes from Kat Scrappiness to use as my shaker elements: Fairy Dust Confetti Mix, Brilliant Blush Sequin Mix and the 6mm Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti Mix. I then removed the backing of the foam tape on my die cut and carefully adhered it over the sequins onto the mat to form my completed shaker. These sequins are absolutely gorgeous and as you can see below, they compliment each other and work perfectly together.

And of course, we are not done just yet, LOL! I had to add one element to my shaker card…..jewels! Again, I used a combination of the Pretty Pink Jewels, Sparkling Clear Jewels and the White Jewels and adhered them onto both sides of my sentiment using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

And now our shaker card is complete!!!!

I hope that you have enjoyed this quick shaker card tutorial today and will stop back again soon for more inspiration, tutorials and project ideas that the super talented Kat Scrappiness Design Team has ready for you.  All of the products and supplies I have used for this project are listed below (most with links). Life is Tough Card

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a card featuring some of the amazing dies in the Kat Scrappiness store!!

I started with the Stitched Scallop Border Dies, using the one with the smallest scallops. I took some of this yummy coordinating paper, 4 sheets total, and cut them to 4″ x 5.25″, perfect as a mat on this card. Then I started running them through my diecut machine, making sure to stagger them out so you could see the beautiful patterns. I tried to make the curve in the Stitched Scallop Border Die sorta line up on each layer, but I wasn’t super exact.

Then I used some matching baker’s twine as an accent behind the sentiment, cut out using the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies and used one of my favorite sentiments from the Everyday Brush Strokes Stamp Set, stamping it out Memento ink in Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap piece of white paper. The last thing I did was use my Crystal Katana to add some of these amazing new Jewels in Champagne to the card. They’re a beautiful yellowish-gold in the package, but because they’re kinda clear, they pick up some of the color of whatever they’re sitting on. So I love that they pulled some of the blue-grey from the paper!! So pretty!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon! Don’t forget to take part in our awesome monthly challenge for your chance to win a $25 Gift Card!!

    Crafters Gonna Craft Cards

Hi Everyone, It’s Tina here. Today I have 3 cards to share with you using the Crafters Gonna Craft Stamp set. It is such a fun stamp set that I found myself making cards one after another. Below you will find the steps to replicate these cards.

    Card with Distress Oxide Background

    • Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)
    • Step 2 – Trim Black Cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
    • Step 3 – Trim White Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Stamp Crafters Gonna Craft using Versamark Ink. Sprinkle White Embossing Powder and heat set it with a heat tool.
    • Step 4 – Apply Distress Oxide Ink starting at bottom darkest to lightest going towards the top. (I used Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey & Abandoned Coral.)
    • Step 5 – Diecut Stitched Scalloped Border Die using the background created at the top. Adhere to card using Clear Double Sided Adhesive.
    • Step 6 – Adhere White Jewels using Collage Medium. The Crystal Katana is a great tool to pick up the jewels and place them.

    Cards One Layer

    • Step 1 – Trim White Cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and fold in half for a vertical side fold card. (A2)
    • Step 2 – Stamp Crafters Gonna Craft directly on the card front using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Color one above the sentiment or color all. I colored one and stamped in color the brush stroke.
    • Step 3 – Optional – Add Sequins for interest.

The Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set is such a versatile stamp set. You can have so much fun making your own backgrounds on a one layer card or adding a layer as the examples I have shown you. 3×3 Card Gift Set

Hi everyone, happy Friday!  Have you seen all the new Kat Scrappiness products that were released this month –   so many great dies and a wonderful craft themed stamp set.  I’ve made a set of 3×3 cards with some of the new products released.  These sets are quick and easy to make and are great to give out as gifts.

The first two cards use the new Stitched Scalloped Border dies by Kat Scrappiness and sentiments from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set by Kat Scrappiness. I embossed the sentiments using Versamark ink  and WOW embossing powders.  I used a few Clear Jewels by Kat Scrappiness on the first card and Birthday Confetti Sequins by Kat Scrappiness on the second card.

For the second two cards, I used the second largest heart from Stitched Scalloped Heart dies by Kat Scrappiness.  I then die cut the words friend and happy from the Scripty “Hello My Crafty Friend” die by Kat Scrappiness.  I cut each work out three times and layered them to give it a little dimension.  I used a Pretty Pink Jewel by Kat Scrappiness to “dot” the i in friend.

    Guest Designer & Scallop Love

Hello Crafty Friends, Karen Bull here and am I just the luckiest girl in the world! I was delighted when I was asked to be the August guest designer for Kat Scrappiness and you are going to love this release! I have many examples to share with you today so grab your favorite beverage and settle in (there is an offer just for you at the end of this post!).

Rainbows make me happy! How about you? For this card, I used 3 Scalloped Stitched Boarder dies and cut strips of scrap paper in all the shades from the rainbow. I adhered them to a piece of cardstock cut to 4×5.25. Once the strips were glued in rainbow order, I cut the excess off and adhered the colorful panel to a top folding notecard. The sentiment is from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set. It was black heat embossed on a strip of white cardstock and adhered using foam tape. Scattered around the sentiment are Sparkling Lime sequins for shine!

The August release included some really stellar sparkles, sequins and other shiny bits! For this card, I again used the three scalloped dies, but instead of cutting through the paper, I repeat dry embossed with them on a white cardstock panel. Starting first with a piece of white cardstock cut to 4×5.25, I set my die cut machine up the same way I would if I were going to use an embossing folder. But instead of using an embossing folder, I will use an embossing mat and make an impression of the scalloped dies on my cardstock.

I seated the dies diagonally on my paper to offer additional interest. Once the entire panel was dry embossed, I added it to a top folding notecard with a piece of craft foam inbetween. The sentiment was from the same stamp set as above and I black heat embossed it on a piece of vellum.

For each of the larger scallops I put Pretty Pink and Silver Jewels in the smallest and largest sizes. These jewels add such interest, sparkle and shine to my project and I can’t get over the stitched detailing!

This next card employs the same technique as above – dry embossing. The Scalloped Stitched Hearts are swoon worthy and I wanted to showcase all that wonderfulness! Here, I nested two dies and made an impression on a white cardstock panel cut to 4×5.25. The panel was adhered to a piece of black cardstock and added to a top folding notecard. Using the same stamp set, I silver heat embossed the sentiment on two strips of black cardstock and used foam tape to add them to the center of my hearts. In keeping with the heart theme, I used Hearts of White to add interest to the sentiment and a pop of color.

I recently played with my alcohol inks and had a smaller piece leftover. I cut the remaining piece with the second largest heart. On a white cardstock panel cut to 4.25×5.5, I dry embossed the larger heart. Using a sentiment from the same stamp set, I white heat embossed it onto the pink die cut heart. I added it to the center of the dry embossed panel and adhered the entire panel to a top folding notecard. To finish the card off, I added more of those fantastic Hearts of White sequins.

Phewh! Those are all of my cards for this post. I hope  you are inspired by what you have seen here. If so, I have a special code for you to use in the shop – use karen10 valid until September 1, 2018 and receive 10% off your order.
