Making Masculine Cards With Spring Fling Paper

You can make some great masculine cards with the new Spring Fling paper.  The secret is in the geometric papers!

There are 5 fabulous geometric patterns that are perfect for everyone in this patterned paper set.  I created this quick card using the fabulous arrow patter with the bold yellow background.  I think the bold yellow background and the black elements really make this a versatile paper.

You can see that I even fussy cut out a few of the arrows to use as die cuts on my card.

My sentiment came from the Happy Day sentiment builder stamp set.  You can build your own sentiments all year long with this one simple set!  I added some of the fussy cut arrows from the patterned paper to fill and decorate the circle die cut I used to ground my sentiment and create my focal point for the card.

I also added a black frame using the A2 Never Ending Rectangle dies.  Yellow enamel dots finish off my card by adding a pop of that yellow into my focal point.

Years ago, I never would have ever fussy cut patterns from my patterned paper.  After taking some new scrapbooking classes, I learned that there are other ways of using your patterned paper besides just as a pretty background.  You can cut it up and use it to decorate your project as well.  That opened a whole new world for me!

For this second card, I used the zig zag pattern with the black back to do some foiling and create a shaker card.  The black back size of the paper is foilable using the Gina K Fancy Foils.  You can see that I also foiled the shadow die from the Happy Birthday word die set.

The Birthday Essentials die was used to create the party hat. Again, yellow enamel dots finished off the hat.  I used the Beer Mug shaker elements along with some Black Tie Affair shaker elements to create an interactive card for a touch of fun.
