Happy Birthday Gift Card Holder…

Hey crafty peeps, Cheryl here today with a gift card holder. Recently Kathleen released some great new dies and this gift bag was one. I love this die and the fact that the slit is there for you! I ended up using it to create an actual card and I’ll take you through how I did it.

The first thing I did was pick some papers from my stash and I cut the image. Then, using my Costco card for sizing, I inserted it and flipped the die cut over. I used foam tape to create a framework so the die would slide in and out and not wobble to and fro. I used my powder tool to take any stickiness of the sides of the foam tape that would cause the gift card to not move well. I then cut another from a solid green paper and offset it just a bit to give it a more 3D appearance. I peeled the backing off the foam tape and stuck it down. I used the same green and cut more handles and glued those over top of the patterned paper ones.

I then took this element and laid it on a piece of teal cardstock and lightly traced with a pencil and offset of roughly a 1/4 of an inch. I used a straight edge to be sure it was lined up right. I then trimmed this out. I laid it onto a folded white card base, lightly traced it and then cut the card base down. This created my shaped card base and I then used liquid glue and attached the entire element to it.

Using the same teal card stock, I used one of the new edge dies and cut a panel to put on the front for my sentiment. I trimmed it to the correct width. Then I stamped my sentiment and cut out using the new circle dies. I cut one other for a mat using the green cardstock left over. I brushed on some sparkle pen and coated in Glossy Accents. I mounted it using foam tape. I tied some twine on the handle and added some sequins.

To finish it off, I pulled out the gift card and added a circle stamped with “pull” and backed it with another circle from behind. This lets the recipient know to be sure not to miss their gift. And it shows just enough to not be missed and yet not take over. I hope you got a bit inspired to try using products for more than just what seems obvious. I thought this die would make a super cute card and I think I pulled it off. I’ll have all the products linked for you to head over to the Kat Scrappiness store and do some shopping.
