    Sequins Galore with Jess Crafts

Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the Kat Scrappiness die sets from the August release. The Stitched Diagonal Background is so simple but has great details. I’m also using some stamps from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set. The design team has already shared a lot of great cards with these stamps and dies so be sure to check them out in the store.

I love to create multiple cards from one diecutting and this die was perfect for that. I was able to cut it once out of pink then purple then blue and rearrange the pieces to make 3 cards. Once I had my panels cut I used from Distress Oxide inks to stamp the sequins from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set. The sentiment is from the Sunny Studio Born to Sparkle stamp set. I have a full video tutorial for two of the cards that you can watch below or on YouTube.

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNiFQdB4eX8]

Even though there was stamped sequins on the card I knew these cards wouldn’t be finished without some actual sequins. I went through my sequin stash to find some coordinating colors and picked out sequins from Breakfast at Tiffanys, Rock Candy, Boo Who, and Ghostly Greetings. It was a good example of how sequins can be used outside their mixes if needed which really adds value to them.

  • Flowers on Wood

    Flowers on Wood

Welcome to the Kat Scrappiness blog.  It’s Lisa here with you and I have a quick post to share. I wanted to show you two cards that I made using pretty florals on a wood background.  The first card uses bright flowers on a dark wood background. The sentiment is from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set.

The second one uses pastel flowers on a lighter wood background and the sentiment is from the Everyday Brushstrokes stamp set.

I’ve always loved the combination of flowers and wood together!  The Stitched Scalloped Collage Frame Die  on the first card and the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die on the second card created the perfect backgrounds to achieve these 2 looks.  The 2 cards came together fairly easily.  I used some wood patterned paper for the backgrounds and some flower dies from my stash.  To give the flowers some dimension I inked the edges of the pastel ones and dry embossed them and for the bright flowers I lifted the edges off the card.

To add some bling to my cards I placed some Sparkling Clear Flower Blossom sequins on the flowers and around the edges.  I hope you enjoyed the cards today, I will be back next week with some new cards using some exciting new stamps and dies from our September release so make sure to check back then!

If you haven’t entered our monthly card challenge yet make sure to do so!  You still have today and tomorrow and you could win a $25 gift certificate to the shop! Get out your coffee and critter stamps and dies and click here to enter!

  • Boo!

    Boo!

Hi everyone!  I am ready for fall, how about you?  I live in a college town – there is always a buzz around town when school starts and football begins.

After Christmas cards, Halloween cards are my favorite.  I love the bright colors and cute characters!  Today’s card features the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die by Kat Scrappiness.  It is such a versatile die.

I die cut this out of orange paper and backed it with a piece of purple polka dotted black paper.  I die cut and colored with Copics the cute little monsters from the Monster Mash stamp set and dies from Lawn Fawn.  I used foam adhesive to pop up the monsters on the card.  I kept the sentiment simple with the word boo in jewels from my stash.

  • Missing You Card by Maria

    Missing You Card by Maria

It feels like it’s been ages ago since I last posted on this blog (or maybe it’s the jet lag talking) but Maria here with you today to share this very simple shaker card, showcasing the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die with the Missing You Brush Script Word & Sentiment die, the Fab Flowers 4×6 Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn and the Fab Flowers Dies with some Pretty Pink Jewels and Hearts of White Sequin mix.

I stamped my images with some Lawn Fawn inks using my Tim Holtz stamping platform.  I die-cut the images with its coordinating dies.

I die-cut another piece of some Neenah 110 lb. card stock using the new Stitched Diagonal Backdrop die.   This die cuts like butter and is perfect for shaker cards!

I adhered my acetate onto the die-cut and added foam adhesive to create the well for my shaker card.  I poured the Hearts of White Sequin Mix on my card base and positioned it to make it easier for me to adhere my shaker well on top of the card base.

I also die-cut the “Missing You” Brush Script Word and Sentiment die twice on some black and white card stock.  Since the card has mostly white on it, I wanted to create a shadow behind the Missing You script die so that it stands out, without overwhelming the design of the card.  I adhered this piece on top of the acetate.  Here’s what the card looks like:

I just love this card design.  I think all the elements I used for this card just complimented each other.  Here’s a little close-up:

The new Hearts of White Sequin Mix is so beautiful, I cannot wait to order more from the shop.  Also, don’t you just love the stitching details on the die-cut?  I am in-love with this design.

I hope you like my shaker card today.  The supplies I used are listed and linked below.  Please don’t forget to use my coupon code “MARIA10” for 10% off your order at the shop.  While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the sales and specials going on.  I hope you have a wonderful day and happy crafting!

  • “Shine Bright” Shaker Card

    “Shine Bright” Shaker Card

Hello everybody! Design Team Member Jana stopping in today to share a quick tutorial on how I created a beautiful yet simple shaker card using some amazing newly released products from the Kat Scrappiness store.

The first step was to create my card mat which would also serve as my background scene of my shaker card. To do this, I used a piece of 110lb. Neenah Solar White cardstock and taped it down to my craft mat using some Purple Tape (as seen below) to keep it in place. Using my blending tool, I applied Twisted Citron and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks by Tim Holtz in no particular fashion to the paper. Once I was happy with the lay down of the ink, I spritzed some water over top and dabbed off the excess to achieve the look you see below. I then set it off to the side to dry.

While my inked up paper was drying, I moved on to my die cutting. I die cut a piece of textured cardstock from the ReCollections “Mermazing” Paper Pad using the newly released Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die by Kat Scrappiness.

I knew that I wanted my sentiment to be stamped across the thick diagonal portion of the die cut, so I stamped my sentiment, “Shine Bright” (from a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit that I had received awhile back) using VersaMark Clear Embossing Ink and then heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder by Hero Arts.

Once my inked up background was dried, I cut it down to measure approximately 3 6/8″ x 5″. I also cut a piece of Acetate measuring the same dimensions. I adhered the acetate to the back side of my die cut using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. Once dried, I applied some foam tape over that in order to form my shaker pockets. I adhered the inked background mat to my card base using some double sided adhesive tape.

Now for the FUN part……. I combined three different sequin mixes from Kat Scrappiness to use as my shaker elements: Fairy Dust Confetti Mix, Brilliant Blush Sequin Mix and the 6mm Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti Mix. I then removed the backing of the foam tape on my die cut and carefully adhered it over the sequins onto the mat to form my completed shaker. These sequins are absolutely gorgeous and as you can see below, they compliment each other and work perfectly together.

And of course, we are not done just yet, LOL! I had to add one element to my shaker card…..jewels! Again, I used a combination of the Pretty Pink Jewels, Sparkling Clear Jewels and the White Jewels and adhered them onto both sides of my sentiment using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

And now our shaker card is complete!!!!

I hope that you have enjoyed this quick shaker card tutorial today and will stop back again soon for more inspiration, tutorials and project ideas that the super talented Kat Scrappiness Design Team has ready for you.  All of the products and supplies I have used for this project are listed below (most with links). • Oceans of Love

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a card featuring the one of the new backdrop dies, the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die in the Kat Scrappiness store!!!

I thought it was perfect to make a shaker card with, and wanted to use one of the adorable Heffy Doodle stamp sets from my latest KS haul (video coming soon!) as well! This set is Oceans of Love and there are some adorable sea creatures in here!! I was too lazy to mask the stamps, so did my best to line them up close to each other and with the exception of the sting ray’s tail, tried not to overlap them. After I stamped them out with my Memento ink in Tuxedo Black, I stamped out some of the bubbles that come in the set in blue ink, and then colored up these fishy friends with my Copics and trimmed them out. I also added some glitter to the bubbles and the narwhal’s horn, because GLITTER. haha!

After stamping out my sentiment across the diagonal panel (also using my Memento ink in Tuxedo Black), I added some of the smallest Pretty Pink Jewels to the card. I also used some of the beautiful Mint Sparkles Sequins Mix to fill my shaker. I absolutely LOVE the texture in the gold stars as well as the big clear iridescent sequins. So pretty!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon! Don’t forget to take part in our awesome monthly challenge for your chance to win a $25 Gift Card!!
