Easy Cardmaking – Make a Happy Birthday Shaker Card using Die Cuts!

    Hello my Crafty Friends!

Angelique Vuur here, one of Kat’s creative makers! From now on, you will see me here monthly with a new card. I hope you all will like what I show you! I always love to read your comments, and please let me know if you’d like to see a particular project.

Now back to the card! We all have those moments, when you need a birthday card but don’t have one in your stash. well, I’ve got you covered with an easy card, made with the new Kat Scrappiness Card Builder Dies

    🧰 Kat Scrappiness Supplies Used

    • Card Builder craft dies 1
    • Birthday Quokka 6×6 paperpad
    • Birthday Quokka Ephemera Pack
    • Glitter Sequin Mix – Peacock Blue
    • Silver Bullet Shaker Dots

    📋 Card Details:

    • I mostly make 5×7 inch cards, because I like the extra border around. So a 5×7 side-folding cream card, but you also can use an A2 side-folding cream card base. By this last option you don’t have the extra border.
    • Using the new Kat Scrappiness Essential Card Builder Dies 1, with the yellow cardstock with bubbles from the paperpad, created a frame for the shaker front.

    • Die cut again a frame with this die on a yellow cardstock.
    • Adhered the normal yellow frame to the red cardstock out of the paper pad.

    • For an extra festive look, I die cut again on a cardstock with colored circles out the paper pad, but this time with the little pieces within the frame.
    • Adhered these pieces on the red cardstock, being the background of the shaker.
    • Furthermore, I adhered a piece of clear acetate behind the yellow frame with the bubbles, being the front of the shaker.

You can fill up the shaker with shaker bits of your choice. Kat Scrappiness has a HUGE assortment with all kinds of shaker bits. Don’t forget to look on the website by Embellishments!

    • Adhered the front of the shaker to the foam tape. And the shaker part itself is done!

    • Now the decorating part, you can use whatever you like! Adhered some ephemera pieces to the front of the card, as you see on the picture. I wanted to keep the separate areas on top of the card intact. So I placed the presents in one area and the sweet quokka with balloon in another. Some with glue and some with some foam tape. For a sentiment, I used the “Happy b-day” from the ephemera pack.
    • If chosen for an A2 card: adhere the whole shaker part to your A2 side-folding card and your card is finished.
    • If you choose a 5×7 card: adhere the whole shaker part to a slightly bigger dark blue piece of cardstock and next adhere this to your 5×7 card. I cut off a bit of the card so the border is evenly wide. And the card is finished!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Happy Summer Birthday!

    Happy Summer Birthday!

Hello crafty friends! Sammi here sharing a birthday card because it is my birthday today! Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE flip flops and the Summer Fun Essentials dies have flip flops! My favorite color is purple, so purple flip flops it is! I just love these dies! Here is how I made this card:

    1. First, I cut the card panel using the Stitched Rope Nesting Rectangle dies. Using Distress Oxide inks, I ink blended the card panel with the browns first to make a beach and then I ink blended the purples to meet the beach. I then took darker colors and ink blended the edges and corners to add some depth. I then sprinkled some water for water splotches, and then added some gold and dark brown splatters.
    2. I then die cut out the flip flops pieces and ink blended them with Oxide inks. I then glued them together using Bearly Art glue.
    3. I then cut the Happy Summer word die out three times and glued them on top of each other. I then took some brown ink and brushed on some brown ink on the tops and bottoms of the Happy Summer sentiment.
    4. I ink blended some dark brown ink onto a piece of cardstock, and then stamped the “birthday” sentiment from the Happy Day stamp set in embossing ink, then heat embossed it with white embossing powder after I treated the cardstock with my Telescopic Embossing Powder Tool. I then cut it into a strip.
    5. Using Bearly Art glue, I glued the Happy Summer sentiment onto the card panel. Then using foam tape, I glued the “Birthday” strip and flip flops onto the card panel.
    6. I then added some Mocha Pearl Mix embellishments and then glued the card panel onto a card base.

I love how this card turned out and it is the perfect birthday card for me!! Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

    Under The Sea Happy Birthday!

Hello crafty friends! Sammi here to show you a colorful card I made with the Life Under The Sea dies, the Embossed Edge Wavy Frame dies and the Layered Bubbles 6×6 stencils from the new release! Have you seen the new release yet? It is AMAZING! I love everything! You can never have enough birthday cards, so I decided to make this card a birthday card using the Happy from the Happy Fall w/ Shadow die and the Happy Day stamp set. Here is how I made this card:

    1. First I cut out a frame with the Embossed Edge Wavy Frame dies (I cut out three frames and glued them together to add dimension) and ink blended the frame and middle piece with Distress Oxide inks. I then added the bubbles using the Layered Bubbles 6×6 stencil and Distress Oxide inks. I then glued the pieces onto a A2 cardbase with Bearly Art Glue.
    2. I then cut out the Life Under the Sea pieces and ink blended them with Distress Oxide inks. I glued the bigger coral piece in one corner and glued a piece of seaweed in the other corner. I then popped the rest of the of pieces onto the card panel with foam tape.
    3. I cut the Happy from the Happy Fall w/ shadow die three times and glued them together to add dimension. I then ink blended the Happy with Distress Oxide ink and glued it onto the card panel. I then stamped the birthday sentiment from the Happy Day stamp set and cut it down to a strip and edged it with some Distress Oxide ink and glued it onto the panel.
    4. I then added some white splatter and some Unicorn Dual Color Pear Mix for my embellishments.

I love the look of this colorful card! I love tropical and sea life cards and these dies are perfect! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

    Birthday Essentials Slimline Card

Hello crafty friends! Sammi here to share with you a slimline card I made using the newly released Birthday Essentials Dies and the Happy Birthday Sentiment die w/ Shadow. The new Birthday release is so much fun!! It’s an amazing release and you can always use birthday cards!

Here is what I did to make this card:

    1. Using the Slimline Film Strip Border Dies, I cut out the film strip with some 110 Neenah cardstock. Using Bearly Art glue, I glued the film strip onto a white slimline card base.
    2. I then used the negatives from the insides of the film strip to measure the three squares and cut out the balloon paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack. Using foam tape, I popped the squares onto the card base.
    3. I then took the balloons, candles, striped hat and ribbon and bow from the Birthday Essential dies and cut them out with the polka dot and solids paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack. I then glued them onto the card panel with Bearly Art glue.
    4. I then cut out the Happy Birthday sentiment using the Happy Birthday Sentiment die w/ Shadow using the red and yellow solid paper from the Birthday Essentials paper pack and glued them together. I then popped it onto the card panel with some foam tape.
    5. I then added some Bumble Bee Pearl Mix and Spring Leaves Pearl Mix embellishments to complete the look.

  • Birthday Food!

    Birthday Food!

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a fun foodie card for a special birthday!!

I used the brand new Crafter’s Essentials 1 Dies on this card – just two of the ten million dies in this set… I kid!! But there really are TONS of dies in this set and they’re all amazing!! So from this new die set, I used the window die and fishtail banner die. I stamped out the “happy birthday” sentiment from the Everyday Brushstrokes Stamp Set using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink. And then I stamped out a bunch of the foodstuffs from the Punny Snacks Stamp Set, fussy cut them, and then colored them up with Copics. I tucked them into the windows and tried to spread them out… LOVE!! This Punny Snacks Stamp Set is just too much fun!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon! Don’t forget to take part in our awesome monthly challenge for your chance to win a $25 Gift Card!!

    Watercoloring with Distress Inks

Hi there! Hannah here! 😀 Today I have a technique video to share!

I created this card and I thought I’d show you how! Watercoloring with Distress Inks is one of my favorite techniques the colors stay true to the ink, and the ink moves so wonderfully. You can dilute it as much as you want, or keep it as strong and rich as you wish.

This card was the perfect reason to showcase Kat’s new Stitched Flag Dies! The sentiment I used is from the new Dad’s Tools stamp set, which just shows you how versatile the set is!

Have a quick look at my video!

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xux1h4HreEA]

I hope you enjoyed my card(s) and my video. I also hope that you took my mistakes to heart, it is just paper and it is a great learning experience!

This has been Hannah Rubenstahl, of Fanciful Spaces, hoping you have a crafty day, and if you need any of the products I used, feel free to use my discount code: Hannah10!
