Winter Diamond Wire & Wood Shaker Card

Hello crafty friends!! It’s Saturday!! Sammi here to show you a beautiful winter scene showcasing the Kat Scrappiness Crafters Essentials Winter Dies and the new 5×7 Diamond Wire & Wood die! I love shaker cards and I love the winter scene the Winter dies provide! Today’s card is very easy to make and here is how you can make this card!

    1. Cut out a piece of 110lb white card stock with the 5×7 Diamond Wire & Wood die. I use 110lb so it is sturdy since it will be a shaker card. I then took some silver ink/wax and lightly swept some silver in random places to add some pizazz.
    2. Cut out a piece of white card stock 5×7 and ink blend a blue background. I used Distress Inks for my background, and then I added some white splatter for a snowy effect. You can use Picket Fence Distress paint or any acrylic paint watered down a little.
    3. Using the Winter dies, cut out the trees with some silver metallic card stock, and some black metallic card stock. Then cut the deer out in the same black metallic card stock. Cut out the snow banks with white pearl or metallic card stock.
    4. Glue a piece of 5×7 acetate on the back side of the 5×7 Diamond Wire & Wood piece and then add some foam tape around the edges of the frame.
    5. Add the shaker pieces, which I used a combination of Winter Sky Sprinkles and Black Tie Affair Sprinkles. After the shaker pieces are on the blue sky card stock, place the Diamond Wire & Wood piece with the foam tape on top of the blue sky card piece sealing in the shaker pieces.
    6. Using Bearly Art glue, glue the black trees on the lower left corner of the card panel, then glue the silver trees a little to the right of the black trees to give a staggered look. Then glue the deer onto the card panel.
    7. For the sentiment, I used the Baby It’s Cold Outside from the Merry Critters stamp set and stamped it with Memento ink, then I cut it out with the new Boxed Sentiment Strips. I then glued it onto the upper right corner of the card panel.
    8. I then glued the card panel onto a 5×7 white card base made with 110lb card stock.
    9. The final touch is that I added some Silver Pearl Mix embellishments around the sentiment and the trees.

This was such a fun card to make!! I hope you enjoy this project as much as I do. I LOVE the Crafters Essential Winter dies to much! They are perfect to make beautiful winter scenes!

  • Masculine Christmas Card

    Masculine Christmas Card

Creating masculine cards always seem to be a challenge, but Kat Scrappiness has several awesome dies that make it a snap!

For my slimline card, I first layered light blue cardstock for the sky.  I then used the new Slimline Mountain Scape dies to create the mountains in the background and tree border in the foreground.  The iconic dear and evergreens are from a die set I use all the time:  Crafter’s Essentials Winter Dies.   The sentiment was created by cutting vellum and gold glitter cardstock using the Merry Christmas with Shadow dies.  To finish, I glued on the snowflakes found in the Frosty Wonderland Sequin & Sprinkle mix.

While this card is for Christmas, it’s a great ‘base’ for any masculine-themed card using another sentiment (and minus the snowflakes)!

  • Merry Christmas!

    Merry Christmas!

Lucky Friday the 13th!  It’s lucky for me because I get to share a project created with some awesome Kat Scrappiness goodies!!

For my card, I cut light blue cardstock with the cover die in the Crafters Essentials Winter Die set which gives just the right touch for a winter feel.   The snowy hills, evergreen trees and fabulous deer are also included in the Crafters Essentials Winter Die set (yes, it IS an incredible die set!)

The Merry Christmas with Shadow die makes a bold and beautiful focal point!  I used vellum for the ‘shadow’ and bright red cardstock for the actual words.  To finish, I added the snowflakes and glittery sequins from the Snow Flurries Sequin Mix.

Hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!

  • A Merry Little Christmas

    A Merry Little Christmas

Hey, everyone!  It’s Kathy here and I’m thrilled to be guest designing today for Kat Scrappiness!  I’ve been having too much fun playing with Kat’s awesome stamps, dies and sequin mixes!!

If you’re like me, you can’t stop making Christmas and holiday cards…they are so fun to create!  This absolutely adorable Kat Scrappiness stamp set, Merry Critters, is one of my favorite holiday sets that I couldn’t wait to play with!

For my card, I first used white cardstock and the background die from the Crafters Essentials Winter dies.  I love how it adds texture with the stitched swirls and embossed snowflakes!  The shaker was created using Embossed Edge Circle Dies, Retro Christmas II Sequin Mix and Peppermint Candy Sprinkles (eep…they are too darn cute!)  The sentiment from the Merry Critters set was embossed with WOW Super Fine Silver embossing powder on black cardstock.  Each of the images were copic colored and popped up with Scrapbook Adhesive 3D foam squares.

So, who’s ready to make some Christmas cards?!!
