Howly Christmas to you by Jo Herbert

Hi All, Welcome to today’s blog post where Gold Glitter the whole Peacock background die for this sweet card. The peacock background is already stunning on its own but with the added WOW! Embossing Powder Gold Glitter Sparkle I felt it added that Christmas feel to the card even more.

I have directly pressed my embossing ink on the already die cut background to get good coverage of ink all over it. Then I poured the embossing glitter all over it repeatedly until all the background die is covered which I then heat set it.

The stampset I have chosen for today’s card creation is the Gerda Steiner Christmas Puppies. It has the cutest images in this set and it has been fun copic colouring them in.

I have kept the card super simple as I found the glitter was already adding the extra shine that I needed. I added a scalloped circle die cut then the cut out copic coloured image foam mounted on top. I added a heat embossed sentiment to the side of the image and that is my card.

I have created a process video of today’s card creation.

  • Happy Fall Card by Jo Herbert

Happy Fall Card by Jo Herbert

Hi all, Jo Herbert here bring to you another blog post using the beautiful Happy Fall stampset. I have enjoyed copic colouring this main stamp image from the set.

I started by repeat stamping the leaf image randomly on a white cardstock slightly smaller than the black top folding card base.  I have chosen a grey ink as this is soft in tone and I didnt want to take away from the cetnre coloured image.

To maximize the usage of the Stitched Scallop Collage Frame Dies iI rimmed it down to one frame to add as a border for my card. I felt this help frame my copic coloured image. I copic coloured the frame to coordinate with the main image. I did the same for the sentiment strip and heat embossed with white over the top. It’s a great way to colour coordinate and tie in all your creation.

I have made a youtube of my card making process over on the Kat Scrappiness youtube. Come and visit and say hi. I would love to hear from you.

  • Merry Critters Waterfall Card by Jo

Merry Critters Waterfall Card by Jo

Hi all, Jo here and welcome to today’s blog post where I have made a waterfall card with the brand new Merry Critters stampset.

I have copic coloured each of  these little cuties in. My paper of choice is from Pinkfresh Oh Joy 6″ x 6″ pack.

    The main mechanism is the waterfall rectangle. It measures 2″ x 8″ and scored at 2″, 2 1/2″, 3″ & 3 1/2″.

The anchor measures 3/4″ by 4 1/8″. My tip with the anchor is to only place really strong adhesive on the outer edge only.

Slip the longer part of the waterfall compinent behind the anchor. THis will be your pull down function.

Cut up 4 pieces of the 2″ x 2″ square in cardstock.  Adhere some pattern paper 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ on top of the cardstock. These panels are the square panels that need to be adhere straight on the ling rectangle pull mechanism.

I have made a quick process video for you all. Sit back get a cuppa and hop you enjoy today’s creation.

  • Wine Not? by Jo Herbert

Hi all, Jo here and welcome to a clean and simple card design for you. One thing I like to do is stretch the dies I have and use them in different ways. For today’s card creation I have used my dies as a back drop on my card front. With using white cardstock on white cardstock I was able to get a tone on tone effect. I find this technique can be impactful in a subtle way. The die I have used today is from the September release Wine Not?  from Kat Scrappiness collection.

For a pop of colour I have used a deep red / cherry colour cardstock die cut with the stitched hearts from the Kat Scrappiness collection.

For the sentiment I have used the coordinating stampset and heat embossed with Opaque Bright White Super Fine from WOW! Embossing Powders.

I finished the card off with some Clear Sparkling jewels.

I have made a quick video tutorial on how I made the card below.

  • Pink Fresh Watercolour Card

    Pink Fresh Watercolour Card

Hi All, Jo here and welcome to my blog post using one of my favourite ‘go to’ items in my Kat Scrappiness collection. The Crafters Essential II Dies is one of my favourites and loved using it on today’s card creation.  With watercolour cardstock I have die cutted the main large background die from the collection. The stitching details around the whole die and the chevrons detail adds such a fun element.

I have heat embossed with the WOW Embossing Powder the Pearl White embossing powder the image from Pink Fresh Studio stampset towards the left hand side of the watercolour cardstock.  I have very loosely watercoloured the image in working around the image first  as a light colour wash then making my way colouring in the image.

I wrapped some black twine around the bottom half of the watercoloured cardstock then adhered down with foam mount tape.  From the same stampset I have heat embossed on black cardstock the Opaque Bright White embossing powder as this stand out so bright on black hence the name LOL I have double mounted this to add dimension to the card.

To finish the card off I added some 4mm clear sequins throughout the card.

I have created a Youtube for you to enjoy this cardmaking process.

  • Peacock cover die feature by Jo Herbert

Peacock cover die feature by Jo Herbert

Hi all, Jo here welcome to a cardset creation using the latest Peacock cover die just released this month.  I have done something a little different where I have I used the cover die as a card base front. To achieve this cardbase I played around with my “bigshot sandwich” .

When running through the cutting mat in the big shot make sure you place your cutting mat so it is not covering the whole die. This technique is called “partial die cutting”.  See below the picture where I have shown where I have placed my cutting mat.

I have also heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powder Bright White Opaque & Metallic Rich Gold embossing powders on the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Heart Dies the sentiments.  The stampset I have chosen for this cardset is the Neat & Tangled Love Notes where I have heat embossed with the add-on sentiments as well.

On the hearts I have ink blended with a heavy hand on the outer edge of the hearts working with a lighter hand towards the centre for a more gradient look.

On one of the cards I have heat embossed the outer edges of the scalloped hearts to add a faux layer to the die cut.

To finish the card off I have stuck the heart die cut has been foam mount directly on the card front.

This card set is quick and easy and can be made in bulk.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card set. To see this card made I have created a Youtube of the card making process.

  • Punny Snacks – Guest Designer Jo Herbert

Hi All, I am very happy to be joining Kat Scrapiness as a Guest Designer for the month of July.  This is my second card creation for the month. I have found this cardset very enjoyable to make and I hope you enjoy the end result.

As a bonus to being a Guest Designer my followers get a special discount code “jo10” .

I thoroughly enjoyed making this cardset with the Kat Scrapiness Punny Snacks .

The Really Rainbow Lawn Fawn paperpack is one of my favourite packs of  late. I continued with the vibrancy of the rainbows by using the Ranger Distress Oxide inks to coordinate with the paper pack. The paper pack has been die cut with the Kat Scrapiness Tag Dies.

TIP: – I have coloured a white strip of cardstock with the Distress Oxide inks to make my own coloured cardstock to match the stamped images.

Even though this is a simple card design I have added details by heat embossing the sentiment and the images plus foam tape to add layers.

I have created a Youtube video of my card making process.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card tutorial. I’d love for you to visit me and stay in touch.

  • Lola the Giraffe Card – Jo Herbert

Lola the Giraffe Card – Jo Herbert

Hi All, my name is Jo and I am super excited to be joining Kat Scrappiness as a Guest designer this month.

Iam a paper crafter from the Sunshine Coast Queensland, Australia. Mum of 3, wife and Instagram addict.
My style is always evolving as I get too tempted with current trends and new products.
Card making and scrap booking has been such an important part of my life for so many years now and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing where it has taken me.
From the early years of plenty of colour and bold embellishments, my style has changed and developed over the years with me and I now believe I am more about embracing white space and bringing the card to life with small pops of colour.

I have made some some fun cards that I will show case with lots of Kat Scrapiness goodies over the the next couple of weeks.

For today’s card I have use the adorable “Lola the Giraffe” stampset AND the very exciting new Crafters Essentials 2 die set.

Here is how I made my card –

    1. Ink blend with Distress Inks Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral and Mustard Seeds on white cardstock then die cut with the largest background die, banner and chevrons.
    2. Die cut with white cardstock with the largest die. I love the stitching detail around the edges that also die cuts out chevrons on the right hand side. I have adhered this down with tombow mono liquid on the white top folding card base.
    3. I have used foam tape that I have cut up in small pieces to fit inside each chevron then I placed the ink blended die cuts of each chevron on the foam.
    4. I have stamped Lola the Giraffe with Versafine Onyx Black ink on white watercolour cardstock and coloured in with Derwent Watercolouring pencils. I then fussy cut out the giraffe and foam mounted on the banner die. I added some last minute detail to Lola with a white sharpie adding freckles on her check and highlighting the ears and feet.
    5. I stamped the sentiment with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink on a the thin strip of banner die cut then adhered down on the card panel.
    6. To finish the card off I added some confetti sequins.

To watch me make this card I have created a you tube of my process.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card tutorial. Don’t forget to check back in for another fun blog post. I’d love for you to visit me and stay in touch.
