Thanksgiving Shaker Card

Hello everyone! It’s Juhi, today I have a Thanksgiving Shaker Frame to share with you. I used the Kat Scrappiness Stitched and Layered Christmas Tree die to create a fall tree. I used the negative space of the die-cut tree as the focus of my project.

After die-cutting the tree on white card stock I take the negative and cut along the outer edge leaving a quarter inch gap from the die-cut area. I stick a piece of acetate big enough to cover the tree and cut off the excess. I then cut thin strips of double sided foam tape the stick along the outside edges of the tree, ensuring I don’t leave any gaps. Finally, I pour in the gorgeous
Autumn Harvest Sequin Mix and seal off the shaker tree with a piece of patterned paper cut to size.

For the background, I used one of my all time favorite techniques, distress ink blending on water color paper. I used Distress Inks in Fall colors to create the background. I sprinkled some water droplets and also stamped on some areas to add interest.

I masked and stamped a 2 line sentiment in 1 line from the Thanksgiving Sentiments – Words To The Rescue Stamp Set. The set has some beautiful Thanksgiving quotes and sentiments.

Finally, I mounted the finished project onto a 5″x7″ wooden frame.

Nice, what a great idea to use the negative space to make a shaker! And your colors are so vibrant, it’s got a little mixed media vibe going on too..love it!
