Gingerbread Cookies Card

Hello again, crafters!  Cynthia here with another Design Team project, this time featuring some wonderful holiday themed items from Kat Scrappiness.  Christmas crafting is my absolute favorite thing to do, so it was a pleasure to create this little plate of Christmas cookies on a card.  I used the tree die from Kat’s Build A Stocking Dies, a lacy border from Kat’s Elegant Border Dies, the winter backdrop die from Kat’s Crafters Essentials WINTER Dies, and finally a sprinkle of snowflake sequins from Kat’s Holiday Fun Sequin Mix.  Keep on reading to see the details of how this project came together.

My first step was to use the little Christmas tree die and cut out several pieces from some kraft card stock.  To enhance the idea that these are gingerbread cookies, I sponged the edges with soft brown ink and used my white gel pen to add icing details.  I hope that you can see the look I was going for!

Step two was to cut and layer all of my background pieces.  I chose a pretty red Lawn Fawn patterned paper for the wide band, then edged the piece with some lacy borders in crisp White.  These were both layered over a piece of Kraft card stock, which I then ran through my BigShot machine with the gorgeous wintery backdrop die.  It only captured the stitched details and the largest snowflakes, but I could have run it through again with an embossing pad if I had wanted to press all of the little shapes into my panel.

Since I needed a little “platter” for holding my cookies, I cut two circles from some more patterned paper to create it.  I edged all of these pieces in the brown ink as well, because I really like the homespun look it adds.  I attached two of the cookies flat, then added two more popped up on foam tape.

For my sentiment, I used the “Merry Christmas” stamp from the Merry Critters stamp set.  I love using White embossing powder and heat setting it over Kraft – it has such a classic look to it!  It also helps it stand out and not get lost on the card front.

For just a bit of extra fun, I sprinkled on some of the tiny white snowflakes that are in Kat’s Holiday Fun Sequins Mix.  This mix is ADORABLE, and has snowflakes, gingerbread men, Christmas trees, and an assortment of sparkling round sequins in reds and greens.  This mix will be a staple in my sequins drawer for sure!

And that’s my final card!  I just HAD to add a fifth cookie with a little nibble out of it, because if there are gingerbread cookies lying around you KNOW I’ll be all over them 😀   I hope that you enjoyed this project, and that you’ll give these new items a try.  Kat always provides such a generous assortment in her sets, and you’ll be amazed at all the darling things you can create.  I’ve included a shopping link below for you to use, and please don’t forget to use my coupon code “CYNTHIA10” to save 10% off your entire order.  Thanks for reading through my post, and I’ll see you all again soon!
