“Wine Not?” Wineglass Card

Hello, crafters!  Thank you for joining me today as I create this adorable card featuring Kat’s brand new stamps and dies.  The sentiment is from the Wine Not stamp set and the wine bottle die is from the Wine Not die set.  There are plenty of different cutting options in this die set, but I decided to only use the wine bottle.  Let’s go ahead and walk through the steps of making this card.

When I was cutting out multiple wine glasses to start playing around, I realized that the scrap of card stock left behind had a fun, retro look to it, so I decided to use it as a stencil.  I carefully taped it down to a piece of kraft card stock with some washi tape.  Using an ink blending tool and some pretty Cranberry dye ink, I gently sponged over the stencil.  I was as careful as I could be, slowly building up layers of ink using more of a dabbing motion than a rubbing motion.  Once I did this end of the card stock, I flipped the stencil upside down and repeated the blending on the opposite end.

One of my favorite things is printed vellum.  I happened to find this sheet at my local craft store and decided to use some of it today.  This strip is about 2.5″ wide so that it comfortably fits the Wine Not stamp.  I treated the surface of the vellum with my anti-static tool, stamped the image in embossing ink, then sprinkled on some gold embossing powder.  I made sure my embossing gun was nice and hot, then quickly melted the powder.  Be careful with this step – vellum is very thin and your powder will melt A LOT faster than it does on card stock!

It can be a bit of a challenge to adhere vellum to your project without glue or tape showing through.  To prevent that, I like to run the vellum across the front of my card and fold the edges over to the backside.  I can then tape it securely without having anything show!  Problem solved!

For my wine bottle, I die cut it with some black card stock and used kraft to create the cork.  For my label, I used a piece of cranberry card stock and embossed the edges with more of my gold embossing powder.  It’s a pretty effect, and a nice way to tie things together.  I also attached my wineglass background to a piece of this same cranberry card stock to act as a matting layer.  My last step was to pop up my wine bottle on a bit of foam tape and attach it next to the sentiment.

And here is my final card!  I think this one turned out so pretty, and the wine bottle is adorable.  Can you picture making wine bottle tags to put on hostess gifts?  I’m going to be doing that this weekend for sure 🙂  If you would like to pick up this stamp set and die set for yourself, follow the shopping link below to the Kat Scrappiness website.  Don’t forget to use the shopping code “CYNTHIA10” to receive 10% off your entire purchase.  Thank you again for joining me, and have a crafty day!
