Angeline here to share with you some tags I made using my brand new scrappy supplies — the yummy-licious Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks. I wanted them for the longest time and finally got them and never regretted it! They are just so so beautiful and the “oxide” effect is truly gorgeous.
First, I wanted to test the oxide inks on different cardstocks, so I cut 2 tags from watercolor cardstock and textured cardstock using the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tag dies.
I first swiped the ink pad on my craft mat, then spritzed it with my Tim Holtz distress sprayer to get the droplets. Then I smooshed my cardstock on the inks — drying and spritzing as I go — to get the “oxide” effect. Once it’s all dried up, I stamped the sentiment. I also cut out the heart using the Kat Scrappiness Double Stitched Heart dies and added some Metallic Bright Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops.
What I noticed is, the inks blended better on the watercolor cardstock and gave a more opaque look. Whereas, the textured cardstock did not blend too well and gave a brighter colored look. So, it really depends on which look you prefer, but I like them both 🙂
Then I also tested the inks on kraft paper. The inks turned out beautifully on darker colored paper and although it looks chalky, it doesn’t feel chalky to the touch. I cut out some shapes using the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Sky dies to decorate my tag and also added some Nuvo Glitter drops in White Blizzard. I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Onyx Black Pigment ink.
So, if you’ve not tried out the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks, you should! It is so much fun and it gives such great effects on your card/tags/crafty projects.
