    Winter Wonderland Card

Hello again, crafters!  It’s Cynthia, back again with one last Christmas project before we put the holidays behind us.  This time, I decided to create a wintery scene with lots of layers to highlight each of Kat’s fabulous dies.  I used the Foliage Frame Die, the Pine Tree Border Die, and the Woodland Reindeer Die.  Each one of these dies are perfect on their own, but I decided to combine all of them for a rich, heavily detailed design.  Let’s go ahead and break down the steps for creating this card project.

My first step was to cut the Foliage Frame Die in white card stock.  I apologize that my photo isn’t showing the delicate veins in the leaves, but they are visible when the card is in hand.

To further the theme of a frosty winter night, I edged each one of the leaves with a fine line of glue, then sprinkled on a generous amount of the gorgeous Nuvo Glitter in Ice White.  This glitter is so lovely, with the texture of granulated sugar and a very bright shine.  I also love that it is crystal clear, meaning the sparkle doesn’t have any “rainbow” iridescence to it.  I set this panel aside for the glue to dry while I worked on the next steps.

For a nice border of trees, I cut the Pine Tree Border Die with a piece of medium blue card stock.  This pretty die can be cut in many different colors, depending on the season and the theme of your card.  A die like this one is something I would consider an essential in any crafters stash 🙂

My final layer, which will be the middle layer in my scene, is the adorable Woodland Reindeer Die.  This die cuts like a dream!  Even the delicate antlers cut perfectly, which is not always the case with dies like this.  I have purchased and used many different brands over the years, and I can honestly say that Kat’s dies are the highest quality 🙂  To add a little highlighting, I used my white gel pen and outlined some of the edges of this piece.  You could also sponge the edges if you want – even using a deep navy or black ink would help define the edges.

Here is a look at the background layers, all assembled.  You can see the white detailing here on my Reindeer die, which I also popped up on a single layer of foam tape.  My line of Pine Trees was adhered flat to the background panel, and I completed the look with some “stars” made from super-tiny droplets of glue and more of the Nuvo Ice White glitter.

To add the Foliage Frame die cut panel, I popped it up on two layers of foam tape so that it was clearly in the forefront.  Because of the low profile of the tape, adding two layers still gives you an attractive card that isn’t ridiculously thick.  I will be delivering this card in person, but if you were going to mail yours you’d want to add an extra stamp just to avoid any embarrassing Postage Due to the recipient 😉   Since there is so much going on here, I decided to add my sentiment stamp on the inside of the card.

And there is my finished project!  If you’d like to get yourself some (or all!) of these dies, they are all available right now at the Kat Scrappiness website.  I have included a shopping link for you below to see these and many other fabulous items.  Please be sure to use my coupon code “CYNTHIA10” at check out to receive 10% off your entire purchase.  Thank you for joining me today, and Merry Christmas to you all 🙂
