Stitched Scalloped Button Card

Hello, crafters!  I hope that you’re all enjoying your Summer, and looking forward to your July 4th celebrations.  Today I’m going to share a card project I made using several shapes from Kat’s new Stitched Scalloped die sets.  These dies will literally work for every single card that you make, and when you mix and match multiple shapes, your options are truly endless.  Let’s get started!

My first step was to cut out all of the shapes I would be using.  I used the largest Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die to cut a piece of lovely floral patterned paper.  Then I cut two Stitched Scalloped Oval dies in two sizes to create my focal piece.

My final cutting was using the smallest of the Stitched Scalloped Circle dies to create my flowers.  These are super cute, and just the right size to allow for a small grouping on a card front.  I used a pretty piece of raspberry pink felt to create them, which cut just as crisply as my card stocks did.  Since I knew that I would be sewing my buttons on, I “felt” like using felt!  Haha!

To create my stems and leaves, I lightly penciled in the lines to give me something to follow.  Then I used my piercing tool and mat to create a series of tiny holes along my lines.  After that, it was easy to use some DMC embroidery floss (all 6 strands together) and a tapestry needle to sew in my lines.  The thick thread completely covered my pencil lines so that I didn’t need to fuss with erasing them.  I think they turned out pretty cute!

Now for some simple assembly.  To help prevent any bumpiness from the threads and knots, I carefully arranged some foam tape pieces across the back of my focal piece.  I centered it on the card and pressed it firmly into place.  All that was left to do was add my sentiment.

For my little sentiment banner, I selected a pretty simple message from one of my many stamp sets.  That way, I can send this card for any occasion.  It’s nice to have a good assortment of all occasion cards on hand so that you’re never caught without one.  I adhered it to the lower right corner of the focal piece, using a little piece of foam tape on the end to raise it up to the same height.

And that’s the finished card!  I hope that you enjoyed this project and got inspired to try something similar.  I cannot encourage you enough to add some (or all) of these Stitched Scalloped shapes to your crafting stash.  They are SO versatile, and really give you some serious bang for your buck!  Please remember that you can use my discount code “CYNTHIA10” when shopping at Kat Scrappiness to save 10% off your entire order.  Thank you for reading my post, and happy crafting!
