Sending Happy Thoughts

Hello Everyone!

It’s Heidi and I’m so excited to bring you my first card as a Kat Scrappiness Design Team Member.  I used a ton of great products from the store to create this cheerful card, including the Never Ending Square Dies and the Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies.

To make the square notecard, I took an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white cardstock, scored it down the middle and folded it in half.

Then, I took the largest square from the Never Ending Square Die Set and placed it on top with just the edge of the die hanging over the top fold.  This will be where the card opens so keeping the die over the edge will keep that part from cutting.  After it’s cut, the notecard will measure 5 3/8 x 5 1/4 in.

You can use this cutting technique with any of the Never-Ending die shapes to get all types of sizes and shapes.  It’s a great way to get even more value from the dies!

I covered the notecard with some striped paper from Pink Paislee’s C’est La Vie 6×6 paper pad.

Using the 4th largest square from the set, I cut a panel from Gina K.’s Turquoise Sea card stock.

I used the same square to cut another white cardstock panel, then, I die cut one of the borders from the Fancy Scalloped Stitched Border Dies set across the bottom.

Using my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform, I stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s Happy Happy Happy stamp set onto the scalloped panel.

For the flowers, I used some blooms from the Mudra Linen Blooms stamp set and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder onto some vellum.

I flipped the vellum over and colored over the flowers with a Copic marker.

Using scissors, I cut out the flowers.  Vellum is very forgiving, so if you’re not as comfortable fussy cutting, this is very easy.  I did a few more than I thought I’d use just so I could play around with the design.

To put the card together, I adhered the scalloped panel with the sentiment on top of the turquoise panel.  I needed a little more color, so I slipped in a strip of yellow dotted paper from Lawn Fawn’s Let’s Polka in the Meadow 6×6 paper pad in between the two panels.  I popped the whole thing up with foam tape onto the main notecard and arranged the flowers in the corner using glue dots.  For a little embellishment, I added some of Kat’s Sparkling Clear Droplets and and a tiny sequin to the center of each flower.  The sequins were part of Kat’s Fairytale Princess mix.  They add just a hint of sparkle to those big purple blooms.

Here’s a closer look…….
