Quick and Easy Coloring on the Back of Vellum

Hello and Happy Holidays everyone!  I’m excited to share a really quick and easy technique with you that works well with outline dies like the ones I’m showcasing below.

I’ve included a process video for you below, along with some detailed pictures and links to all of the products I used.

I used the same technique to create both of these cards.  I started out with the Christmas Ornament Shadow Dies and the Angel Die by Gina Marie Designs.  Both of these dies have an outline pattern that works great for this method of coloring.

After cutting out the dies from my cardstock I applied a piece of vellum behind each.  I then used alcohol markers to color the back side of the vellum, using the outline of the die as a guide.  As you can see the back side doesn’t look very nice, but when you turn it over you get a beautiful soft effect that is nicely defined by the outline of the die.

I love these Christmas Ornament Dies because they cut the interior details, but they also include two separate dies that cut the outer perimeter, or the shadow of each ornament.  I colored these the same way I did the other card, by using alcohol ink markers to color the back of the vellum.

I used my Stampoholic Nano to stamp my sentiments.  I used the Merry Messages Stamp set by Lawn Fawn, along with the Joy To The World set by Honey Bee Stamps.  Both are fabulous sets full of great holiday sentiments.

I kept the cards fairly simple because I really wanted to focus on the beautifully detailed dies.  This was such an easy technique – it took no time at all.  I’ve included links to all of the products I used below.  Thank you so much for stopping by!
