Happy Fall – By Hannah Rubenstahl

Hi there! I am SO excited for today! Today is my FIRST Design Team post for Kat Scrappiness! Oh, by the way, my name is Hannah, I’m the creative card maker behind Fanciful Spaces. Working with the Design Team for Kat Scrappiness is like a dream come true, I can’t believe I am actually doing this!

Kat’s Never Ending Dies are AMAZING, I am utilizing part of her square dies today and I’ll be using a lot of her circle dies in my next post! The options for the Never Ending Dies really are never ending!

Today I am going to show you how I made this super cute fall themed shaker card using Kat Scrappiness products, as well as other items found in her store!

To start, I used the largest of the Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags Dies and cut 3 different layers with it. One using some patterned paper from the A Perfect Autumn paper pad by Echo Park, a second using fun foam (I used orange, but the foam in Kat’s shop works perfectly too), and the third using acetate.

Next, I created my own patterned paper using some white cardstock, a Carta Bella pumpkin stencil, and Distress Inks. I also ran this through the same tagged die I cut the other 3 pieces from. After my patterned paper tag was cut, I lined up the fun foam layer underneath and cut out a square out of the two layers. I used a square from the Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Square Die and tried to line it up as equidistant from all of the squared edges as possible.

The stitching, from Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags, provides the PERFECT line to trim some of the layers down so that they are more hidden when you build everything up. Along the 3 squared sides, I trimmed the fun foam and the acetate layers down, I also cut away the area where the hole is at the top of the tag on all layers except for the top layer we made with the stencil. I glued this all together with some Ranger Multi Medium Matte. The Ultra Fine Tip Applicator needle made this SO much easier (and neater) than it would have been without it!

In between that previous step, before our handmade patterned paper was adhered to the fun foam, I stamped my sentiment on the top of the tag. The sentiment was from the Happy Fall with Squirell Stamp Set by Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set. I used my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamping Platform and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for perfect placement and stamping!

When I had my top hand-made patterned paper, acetate, and fun foam glued down (in that order) I added my sequins! The bright colors of the Autumn Harvest mix matched my card wonderfully and really added the POP I wanted! There were some jack-o-lanterns, and a few larger leaves that I didn’t need on this card, so I excluded them in order to use them on another card. After I applied some Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the exposed side of the fun foam, I glued down the pattern paper we had cut out from the Echo Park paper in the first step.

While that sequin/tag sandwich was drying I cut down another piece of patterned paper, from that Echo Park A Perfect Autumn pad. I cut this down to an A2 size, 4.25″x5.5″ and adhered this to my white card stock card base. I also cut three lengths of gold embroidery thread and used it to tie a bow through the hole of the tags. Having cut the various layers from the back part of the sequin/tag sandwich this was MUCH easier than when I tried doing so through all of the layers!

I flipped my sequin/tag sandwich over, adhered it to my card base, and then glued on some Copic colored squirrels that I had previously colored from the Happy Fall with Squirell Stamp Set by Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set.

The result is, I hope, a fun and a festive card that anyone would love to receive. While there were a lot of steps in the making of this card they were all fairly easy and together they pack in a WOW factor that will amaze its recipient.

Thank you so much for following my card making story, it is my hope that I have inspired you today! Should you want to CASE my card, or order anything that I’ve inspired you by in this post, please feel free to use the discount code Hannah10 at checkout!
