Hello crafty friends! I’m so excited to show you one of the new Kat Scrappiness die sets for the October release. The new Crafter’s Essentials Fall die set is so fun and versatile. The design team has already shared a lot of great cards with these dies so be sure to check them out in the store.
When I got the Crafter’s Essentials Fall die set I knew the tree would make for some beautiful cards. I decided to make it the focal point of a shaker and the star of a distressed ink background card. I have a full video tutorial for the two cards that you can watch below or on YouTube.

I decided to put a bit of a spin on the night time background by adding a spooky full moon. I used Distress Oxide inks in various purples with a bit of black and grey to create a fun sky with a glowing moon! I created a scene with all the fun Crafter’s Essential Fall dies but then the purple jewels really gave it that last perfect bit of shine. Notice that I placed them in a triangle and I added two in each spot in varying sizes. If you ever struggle with where to place your embellishments think of creating a triangle with the elements and vary sizes for added interest.
When I created my shaker I found myself adding a whole bunch of Hocus Pocus sequins and then after a moment decided a bit of Ghostly Greetings sequins would finish it off even better so I mixed the two. The sentiments on both cards are from last year’s great layering set Toil and Trouble. Cutting both large card panels with the Distressed Edge Rectangles also added a great Halloween themed detail!
