Fun Day Out Scrapbook Layout

Hello friends! Katty here back to share another 12×12 scrapbook layout. I received some fun new goodies from the Kat Scrappiness Shop and I could not wait to use them. I am scrapbooking a photo of my boyfriend and I. This was taken on a recent tour of a cruise ship we took with some friends.  We had a very nice day. I decided to print my photo in black and white so that I could have some fun with several colors.

I began with a lovely Crafters Workshop  6×6 stencil called Mini Rose Butterfly Trail and some white cardstock. I placed my photo in the center of the page and use the stencil on the left hand side of the photo. I flipped the stencil over to mirror the image on the right hand side as well. I used the awesome Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in the color Pacific Teal through the stencil.

I then used some of the Tim Holtz Distress Inks to add color over the stenciled butterflies. I pressed the Distress Ink pad directly onto some plastic and added water to it, creating a watercolor. I then used a small brush to add color between the butterflies. I used three colors, Cracked Pistachio, Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber.

For my tittle, I used the same technique with the distress inks on some white foam Thickers.  All I did was add some gesso to the thickers before adding the color. They turned out great and coordinated perfectly.

I wanted to keep this layout simple but I wanted to add something to the top and bottom of the layout. I used an Amy Tangerine embroidery template of a scallop border and used it across the top and the bottom. I used three coordinating colors of embroidery floss, each scollop a different color but keeping the same pattern of the three colors. I love how this turned out.
